MLB 10: The Show - March 2, 2010 - Full Online Season Leagues and Online Priority!
It wasn't bad on MVP 2005. Though it was incredibly hard to steal on the Gamecube. It was a lot easier on the PC.
I'd play MVP 2005, but the Catholic Church took it from me. It's deemed a religious relic now. The damn thing used to ascend out of my Gamecube and I'd have to catch it with a net.
Dude! Come on. How big of a boner do you have for MVP 2005??? This shit is getting ridiculous.
It's true though. The baserunning was pretty much flawless in MVP 05. The only time bad things happened were my own fault.

It was the best baseball game ever and it's sad that no other baseball games have even matched it's quality.

I tried the new baserunning controls at first but they are TERRIBLE so I had to switch back to classic. I get along ok with them most of the time but they aren't perfect by any means.

I know it's been said a million times already, but the online stats reallllllly needs to be fixed. The game I had last night where the guy threw and intentional walk and froze just now showed up on my list and it says I disconnected.

Any word on why there was no roster update this week, or are they taking two weeks to fix the lineup bugs on the Yankees, Twins, Indians, and Marlins?

Same thing happened last year. No big movements have happened over the past week (except for roster cuts, most which happen with players not even in the game). I'm guessing the next update will be out the following Monday after opening day.

The second patch will be live on Thursday 3-18-10. The fix list is below. Also, this patch was worked after the game had shipped, so we had a chance to address issued reported by consumers. We fixed all we could given the time frame for this patch to go live as soon as possible. While I'm sure it doesn't cover all issues you are experiencing, we are continuously investigating other problems and we will update everyone once we have more concrete information. Regarding problems with leagues, some of these issues can be fixed server side, while others may require a patch. Again, we will keep the community updated on this situation as best as possible. We thank you for your patience and help identifying these issues.

PATCH 2::

- Fixed issue with the auto-fix feature in rosters not working correctly all the time when a downloaded roster was used.

- Fixed issue to accurately show the number of games in progress when looking at the game/lobby room list.

- Fixed issue causing players placed on trade waivers to not be withdrawn if claimed by a user controlled team (offline season).

- Fixed issues with attendance.

- Make sure players placed on release waivers retain their contracts until they clear waivers.

- Allow teams to send down a reliever and keep 2 closers on the roster.

- Only allow the CPU to trade a player once per season.

- Unranked Online Games should not count towards points, win/loss nor stats.

- Fixed issue causing trades to be offered by the user's team even when set to MANUAL trades.

- Fix catcher throw decisions when AUTOTHROWING is on

- Create a player using these stances/deliveries:

Stances:
Bay, Jason
Barmes, Clint
Barton, Daric
Fukudome, Kosuke
Kemp Matt
Longoria, Evan

Pitch Deliveries:
Kuroda, Hiroki
Lilly, Ted

- Scout challenge from certain locations addressed.

- Intentional walk Online gaemplay issue addressed.

- Merged Sounds of the show fix. Fix for overflow problem when storing more than 255 songs. This is referring to storing the songs in a playlist.

- Exiting chatroom fix after completing the game.

- Fixed bug with ball warping into fielder's glove from the outfield on a line drive.

- Fix exiting Bullpen issue.

- Addressed issue with large attendance numbers being displayed properly.

- Fixed bug causing position players to be in the bullpen leading to an issue in franchise and career mode.

This is what scares me about some people in the OS community:

wow, this is fantastic!

just over 2 weeks since the game came out, and already 2 patches!

Forgive me for not really thinking of this as a good thing. Of course, it's great that they're fixing the problems they overlooked in the first place, but isn't that really just good customer service? It's not really above and beyond. When you release a broken product, you should be obligated to fix it. I guess most gamers are just used to getting ripped off, so this is something extraordinary to them. But I still gotta feel like the fact that the game NEEDED two patches within two weeks of release has to stand for something. I mean, look at these comments.

Wow, really can't thank you guys enough for this. I was more than happy to play with the workarounds, but this is just beautiful. Thanks so much.

What the hell is wrong with people? You have rights as a consumer. You shouldn't be thanking a company for allowing you to give them money to play their game. It's fucking bass ackwards.

I think it goes both ways. As a consumer we demand more and more for sports titles so that they aren't just another roster and small graphics update. San Diego Studios put in some new things this year 30 team roster control among others and didn't see all of the problems created. It looks like testing was the last thing done for the game and wasn't done long enough. Releasing a sports title every 2 years isn't going to be done when millions buy the game and a profit is made. It's pretty much the buyer beware when buying a sports title opening day. The mass of us are lucky in today's age when a game can be fixed.

People thanked them because they took the time to fix alot in a decent amount of time. You are knocking some poster who might have converted over from MLB 2k series. I have heard stories about how 2k8? 2k7? had a mass of bugs/glitches that were never fixed. I personally haven't had problems with Show 10 because I have been spending most of the time practicing playing exhibition games and an online game here and there.

2011 Improvements I would like to see.

I personally feel that the graphics should be the last thing touched. Maybe work on more correct pitching and hitting animations. I would love to see player specific and team specific homerun and game winning celebrations. Stadiums are 95-99 percent accurate and just get each one 100 percent.

Don't bother posting anything that isn't similar to the ones you listed above or you'll be banned by OS. It's a joke there thats why I stopped posting and only really use it for sliders. Speak your mind about something you don't like and all to quickly they shut you out. I agree completely with everything you posted though, but my issues were mostly with the NCAA games. I think it's nice that they have released the patch and you can't ask much more from them, after the fact that is.

If the online portion of the game doesn't work- leagues not running properly, and games not counting- then that part of the game is, by definition, broken, even if the game as a whole is not.

Hopefully they will get that resolved by the time I get my PS3 back from the repair center.

I made that post before I learned my league was completely broken, with a draft it wouldn't allow us to have, and game results that will not be recorded. I made the assumption that since this year's focus was the online portion of the game, that it wouldn't have many problems. So, definitely. Shame on me for that. But I'm sorry. As more bugs are uncovered, my approval rating for the game drops. As Matt said, the game is not completely broken, but certain parts of it are...for the second year in a row. The fact that they're "willing" to fix it just seems secondary to the fact that those problems still exist.

wildcpac made a good point in saying that people are demanding more and more from sports games, so they're not "just roster updates". And as a result we're seeing more problems. I agree completely. We're getting quantity over quality, and I just don't like it. I've always understood that sports games were more than "just roster updates", so I'm not really one who needs all these play modes and options and everything else they're spending time on.

I don't even play multiple seasons of my franchise and I rarely make it through one complete RttS season. Why? Because by understanding that the game is more than just roster updates, I plan on buying it again the following year. As we've discussed before in these threads, adding so much depth to the Franchise and RttS modes somewhat goes against the "buy it every year" philosophy that I'm sure SCEA wants you to have (unless they start allowing you to import your RttS save file from the prior year).

Of course I don't mind these things, but they should never come at the expense of solid programming. All I want is a game that plays solid for one season. When you start taking away 2 weeks here, a month there, to fix things that don't work right out of the gate, it starts to depreciate that one year value. Don't get me wrong. The game is still a very good game of baseball. I believe that moreso than I did last year. I just know they can do better. It just feels like their priorities are out of whack (again as wildcpac mentioned).
What the hell? Didn't you just get your PS3? What happened?
I got it on November 30th. Ever since January, it stopped playing 80% of the Blu-ray movies I'd try to watch. Games worked fine, though. I had to send it in after almost all the Blu-rays I got from Netflix refused to play.

I don't feel that their priorities are out of whack, I just feel that they just spent alot of time working on the online, graphics (lighting), stadium details, real time presentation, other bells and whistles and just ran too late when it came to testing. We basically live in a community where the first people who buy the game are the testers for every sports game. That is the price that you pay for when you buy a sports game opening day.

I personally got this game for the RttS, and that only. I finally played one game online with my brother, but went immediately back to RttS. I think the 1p aspects should be addressed first and foremost. It seems like playing a pickup game works just fine, but the issues lie with creating a fantasy league of sorts and playing through a season that way. I'm sure it bothers some, but I definitely wouldn't say most. I'm more than happy playing my RttS season. By the time that's done with, this will probably be addressed and hopefully fixed. If not, I'm still happy with my purchase

He said he expected them around or a week after opening day. But with the player potential problem that everyone's been talking about, I think he might wait til SCEA releases another roster with the corrected potentials.

They fixed it for the most part for the real life players. But if you start a franchise, there is a ridiculous amount of pitchers who have an A potential compared to fielders. Forgot the correct numbers but it was something like 80 pitchers who have an A potential compared to 15 fielders with an A potential.

How long does it take till your stats aren't terrible in RttS? I've played so many games and my character still makes unforced errors.

I also hate how the guy with a 350 average bats friggin 7th-9th in the lineup. I asked the coach to move me up, he did for 3 games, then right back down to the bottom. That's including my 15+ game hitting streak :whistle2:(

depends on how you play. or if you pay. couple seasons maybe depending on position. pitchers get lots of points.
i spent 2 bucks for the points and it only rose like 4 stats 5 pts or something like that for my catcher. what screws me is the base running ive been benched a couple times because of it and miss my goals. im still in AA
Anyone know what the two hidden trophies are?
Choker - In any mode, lose the game after inserting your closer with a two or more run lead in the 9th. (Must be a save opportunity).

Stolen Thunder - Throw out two runners attempting to steal a base in any RTTS game.

Not sure about the hidden trophies, but it's going to be a BITCH of a time getting that 500 MLB points trophy. You're talking 50 games over .500. With the way games are never counting, I'm struggling getting to 100 (although I should have been there twice now).

The one thing I'm really enjoying online though is "hustling" people. Since people are free to quit in the 1st inning without punishment, I've been playing like a complete moron in the 1st. I don't use guess pitch at all, I'll swing at garbage, or swing after the ball is in the catcher's glove, haha. And then in the 2nd inning, I just go off. I did this to one guy and scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning. He quit immediately, haha. Of course, the damn game didn't count, but it was still pretty funny.

I also love the people who blatantly try to rush their pitches the entire game. I just hold R2, and take my time, leave it sitting there for 5 seconds until I'm ready to hit. For some people I even do it with nobody on base, just to let them know I'm not playing at their retard break neck pace. But I've noticed a couple times that if they step off/throw over twice while facing the same batter, R2 doesn't work anymore. I've had a few people do this to prevent me from being able to lead off at all. Anyone know what that's about?

n8, apparently if you beat someone that is not a rookie, you get 20 mlb points instead of 10. I've yet to play someone that is not a rookie and i don't know if you also lose 20 or 10 if you lose to someone that is not a rookie. But I assume it will be easier once people play enough games.

The easiest way to get that one is to use Billy Wagner.

I got 20 points for beating a Veteran. I assume you get 30 for the next level up, and so on.

On a related note, Joe Mauer for 8 years, 184 mill???
Of Fat Booby Jenks
It's funny you mention him because I could've sworn I blew a save with him when I was up 2 or 3. Not sure why I didn't get that trophy. Maybe he had to come in for the whole inning?

I had a weird glitch happen when i was playing RTTS i was pitching and the umps gathered together and how to view the video to see if it was a foul or fair...it was fair and the HR was good but it looped the same review of them all meeting and viewing the video 3 times even after hitting X...it was odd

Was there a roster update today?

Edit: Found out when I got home that there wasn't an update for the second consecutive week.

Just use Knights roster on here. He said they should be done by opening day.

Best rosters out there

If anyone didn't get a stadium pre order code they can have mine^^^

No problem. I had the email for that and the Gow skin sitting there and I didn't feel like imputing them. So I took the lazy route and just gave them away

I dunno whats up with that . i even tried an online game at that stadium same problem. i even deleted my gamee data and reinstalled same thing . my replays evenn get saved with that white i dunno

Had an interesting turn in my RTTS. I was in AAA for Cleveland before being called up the majors after Travis Hafner and Jake Westbrook were traded to Cincy in a bench role, so I got a game in here and there. Just after the All Star break, trades happened left and right as I see Matt Laporta (the only 1B above me at this point) traded to Boston and a day or two later, I follow him to Boston with a decent young CP for Daisuke Matsuzaka (Cleveland obviously wins). Somehow Matt gets put in AAA and I get to ride the bench and play here or there. It seems that Kevin Youkilis and Victor Martinez get to sit every few days, so I get a shot at that point. I've been doing okay with maybe a hit a game as I try to get my attributes up to snuff.

This is only in July of my first year, so I got lucky as hell to essentially be playing in the Pros at 18 without grinding a lot in the majors. I wouldn't be surprised to be sent back down after my first season when they realize how I shouldn't be there yet, but I'll enjoy it so far.

I know Knight's rosters are the best Ninja, but they're not done yet and I'm just wondering why Sony has gone 2 weeks without updating the official rosters.

What big transactions have been made? Opening day is in 13 days. Maybe Sony is just waiting for each team to finalize their 25 man rosters. Plus teams are making cuts every day.

Yeah I agree that there is no use in trying to use rosters prior to opening day. I'm shocked that 2K10 has been keeping up with their live updates as well as they have during spring training.

I really hope that The Show will one day have a feature similar to NBA Live's Dynamic Season, where you are willing to sacrifice roster control so that it can be automatically updated daily with the exact rosters and real stats from the games you don't play. The thought of playing a season that mirrors real life 100% makes me . Obviously this would be in addition to the 30 team franchise mode and everything else it currently has.
