That sucks. Oh well

Is there any way to tell how good/bad the VC is doing? Certainly people aren't all going out to buy these games....

R-Type III was a good game, no? Or am I thinking of Super R-Type?
One of those R-Type games was good, I thought.

Better week than I expected, but that's not saying much.

Couldn't they at least release Xenophobe instead of Xevious? I know the games have nothing in common other than starting with X and sucking, but at least I had fond memories of playing Xenophobe at my friend's house long ago. Didn't Xevious get a GBA rerelease? How did that happen?
Xevious (NES)
R-Type III (SNES)
Moto Roader (TG-16)

Who was riiiiiiiiight? Me!

Like I said earlier, I love shmups, but this is getting pretty damn ridiculous to keep getting them week after week after week for such a niche genre.

And next week is already confirmed to suck ass.

After next week, this should be the last of the shitty titles (but not the last of the shmups, there is at least two more I can think of that we're gonna get).

what comes out next week?
what comes out next week?
Bonaza Bros
Comix Zone
Gain Ground

Nothing but shit, because all of these are on the Sega Collection game for PS2 for $15 - $20.

It would cost more to buy these three games on the VC then it would to get them and 25 more Sega games for the PS2.

I really hope they add a different game to that week.

hmmm...not digging the old school shmups. I'm too spoiled by the newer "bullet hell" games.

got 2600 points burning a hole in my Wii! C'mon Tetris Attack and Yoshi's Island!
Same here. I just think we're getting too much at once.

I don't mind them, that much... maybe one day if I have some left over points I'll grab R-Type 3, it's still a good game.

Wow, what an awesome week for the VC! I cant wait for next week! -adds 12th shmup to library-..

I like that word.. shmup, word to whoever founded it.

I love shmups myself. I'm still deciding on Super Star Soldier or Alien Crush. Luckily, I was never a Xevious fan, so I can save my points yet another week. Only have Gunstar to my name at this point, but that will change...eventually...

I love shmups too, but I'd like some sort of variety... it seems like very week we get yet another shmup, sometimes two.

It won't be long before we get two more (Biohazard Battle and R-Type 2).

I just want to know what kind of monumental occasion Nintendo is waiting for to give us LttP and Super Mario World... they aren't going to come in Jan more than likely, so we're waiting three months after Japan to get these two games.

Even Europe is slated to get both games in Jan 2007 =/

The only thing we did get with the Wii launch was to get it first but come on Nintendo had to do that to outshine the PS3 launch. Yeah I am pissed too, but what can you do to change NOA, if they want to act like fuckers there is nothing to stop them,

I'm hoping that the week Europe gets SMW and LttP, we won't be far behind.

I mean, shit, at least give us fucking Donkey Kong Country.

Once I have any of those NoA can do whatever they want.

It was nice to get Wii Sports from them included in the package. (Yes, I know that the system only costs 25,000 yen = $213 in Japan without the game instead of our $250, but converting doesn't exactly work that way except to measure our purchasing power with dollars).

This raises the question: How much would you spend on Link to the Past?
This raises the question: How much would you spend on Link to the Past?
For LttP in 480p goodness?

Whatever they want to charge... I doubt it'll be over 800 points though. Maybe 900 like in Japan, but even then I doubt it because Simcity is 900 there and 800 here.
This raises the question: How much would you spend on Link to the Past?
Well if I didn't own the GBA version I would pay upto 1200 Wii points max. It should be 800, maybe and thats a big maybe 1,000.

Botticus just told me about how some kind of Austrilian equivalent of the ESRB just rated Super Ghouls and Ghosts for SNES for the VC... that's pretty cool.
Didn't Xevious get a GBA rerelease? How did that happen?
Yes, I have it . Though to be fair, it was one of the CC clearance games last spring and it cost me less than $5. I haven't opened it yet.

So, is Rtype III any good? I have yet to buy a shmup. If I can find another card I just might bite on this one depending on reviews.

No clue how they get that (unless that's how their system works), but who knows.

Although I do have hope that they will release something good in febuary because right now, there is well Zelda (which is good but I have already played), and Super Mario Bros. (who never played that).
fuck the virtual console
As for people not getting the games they want, just remember, Nintendo has at least five years worth of Mondays to stretch out. Personally, I don't waiting for the A-list titles. I'm 29 years old, so I have most of thoese games on hard copy, anyway.

Edit: I'm actually 30 as of 12/30. You lose track after a while, kids.

The VC is kinda making me feel like Linus and the Great Pumpkin...

But believe me, one of these days we're gonna get Super Mario RPG! Just you wait! You'll see!

Just wait - it will get worse. Not only do I forget how old I am, I'm losing track of my kids' ages ;).

 • Japan
 • Ikki (Famicom, (Sunsoft) - 500 Wii points
 • Ice Climber (Famicom, Nintendo) - 500 Wii points
 • Contra Spirits (SFC, Konami) - 800 Wii points
 • Moto Roader (PC-Engine, Hudson) - 600 Wii points
 • US
 • Xevious (NES, Bandai Namco) - 500 Wii points
 • R-Type III: The Third Lightning (SNES, Hudson) - 800 Wii points
 • Moto Roader (TG16, 600 Wii Points)

Booyah! I have psychic VC powers ;)
Booyah! I have psychic VC powers ;)
Ok, now lets try this again whats coming out two weeks from now, lol (besides the other two genesis games I hope). Good job predicting Xevious, as well they had to get rid of it sooner or later.

Seriously?

If Sega was serious about getting all 5 games out, we'll see Streets of Rage, Biohazard Battle, and that's probably it.

*Maybe* Ice Climbers for NES.

I'll be happy with Streets of Rage though.

Feb. should start the massive downpour of AAA VC titles because Nintendo has no more junk to port over.

Very true. At 2-4 games on average per week, the numbers add up. Eventually they will run out of shitty games and they will HAVE to give us good stuff.

However, in 2 months we could at least have gotten one AAA title. I truly don't think that's asking much. I know we all want our favorite games, and we will get them most likely in due time....but still. Especially since we don't have many must have games on the Wii itself, it would be nice to play some awesome games on the VC.

A lot of people would sure think so.

While I enjoyed F-Zero and Gunstar, I don't think either are "AAA" Games.

Nintendo could release one AAA title each month for the next five years and never run out. There are so many NES, SNES, N64, and Sega titles (TG16 sucks) that I could name over 60 titles that I would buy. These games that are being released are crazy.

I just think that the arguement and nintendo waiting for a downtime to release good games is void since there are so many games that could be available.

EDIT: I take it back, I can name well over 100 games that people would pay money for. AND THIS EXLUDES THE TG16 since I have no clue what crap came on that system.

I agree I have a list of games I'd buy, and some I'd rebuy (LTTP, OoT, SMW), but browsing the shop channel, you'd think this is the Sega Genesis VC seeing these pitiful lineups of SNES and N64 titles.

I don't think it's not the fact people are hating that there are no AAA games, maybe they think like me and it's like why the hell has Japan had LttP, Super Mario World, and all the regions have had Donkey Kong Country while we don't get them yet?

Didn't you hear? Nintendo hates America.

I say that only half-jokingly because I really feel as if Nintendo has absolutely zero regard for what the American consumer wants.
I say that only half-jokingly because I really feel as if Nintendo has absolutely zero regard for what the American consumer wants.
The "club nintendo" stuff makes me seethe with jealousy. Even stuff I wouldn't play, like "Tingle's Baloon Fight." And the (collector's) cases for the Famicom GBA releases? Bad-ass, and such an incentive would have led to me purchasing the games, instead of getting whatever was leftover in clearance at TRU. Sure, Super Mario Bros and Zelda sold well, but others collected dust, and the entire series was ditched after two sets of releases. How many NES Classics does the US have compared to Japan? That's not so much a product of NoJ *caring* for their customers more, but, rather, different theories of marketing and promotion (which, in the case of NoA, led to $2-5 copies of Bomberman, Xevious, and Metroid).

The VC stuff I can live without, because I know it's temporary. More than anything, I don't care for the "classic" stuff, but I'm more interested in rare titles, old RPGs I never got around to, and imported games (Hagane, Sin and Punishment).

Sorry this takes up a lot of room. I am about to go to class and had nothing else to do. Also, I am probably missing dozens of games since I forgot some of the best until last (FF, Super Metroid). Sorry if I missed any major AAA game

Considering I get at least 120 games (doesn't seem too hard) this leaves 2 good games (IMO) per month for 5 years. Seriously, that's not too hard.
