Depends on if you want to actually own a physical copy of the games. For me, I don't really care.
Same here.

My CE was still SEALED... I made $90 on that, and yea, rebuying the games isn't going to cost me anywhere near $90 ;)

So yea, Frisky, guess I'm not "paying out the ass", in fact I'm actually turning a huge profit, which works for me. Espicially when you factor in that I sold my Master Quest disc for another $40 - $50.

Just gotta sell my complete LttP for SNES now, and I know for a fact I will get more than $8 for that.

Im selling my mini super nintendo soon cause I think I like the VC better than the super nintendo, and we'll have a huge list of VC games within a year.. so yeah :/
I'm thinking better than even odds we get Zelda 2 next week, and... maybe DKC?
I sure hope so. I am a beast in Zelda 2, I once went and got the hammer first because my brother bet that I couldn't. NO candle. There was a lot of leaving and returning back to screens because the jump spell takes up so much magic at a low level haha. I forgot if I had the life spell or not though. I know I had to do it twice because the first time I lost my last life right at the end with those axe throwing wolf guys. I also once went to the Golden Palace without killing all the bosses, which means you get stuck at the entrance because its not open unless all the other ones are sealed. I tried to sneak in as a fairy but Ganon laughed at me.

The other was the broken mess that was Wolverine.

I finally gave in and bought a Classic Controller. Received a $10 Amazon GC for filling out a survey for GameTap (took 4-5 months to send it to me) and used it towards my purchase.

Classic Controller - $19.82
Wii Points Card - $19.82
Free Shipping / No Tax
$10 Amazon GC
Total: $29.64

Not bad, I guess. :)

I cannot wait for Earthbound! Oh and I should replay Super Mario RPG... it's been a long time since I played either of these...

Whoo-hoo, found a Wii Points card at Gamecrazy today (after just trading $20.90 worth of stuff that only cost me $8 to buy ;)) and called home with the code so my wife and kids could put it in ASAP and download Super Mario World... Oh well, damn Shop Channel got stuck on "loading" for a 1/2 hour and they turned it off. I was hoping they could reap the benefits of my hunting and gathering efforts in near real-time... When I got home it was working so the kids will have it to play in the AM.

Have they said anything about Earthbound outside of the initial Virtual Console announcement at E3 ('05?). I have a feeling Nintendo will decide to fuck over the US yet again regarding the Mother series.
Have they said anything about Earthbound outside of the initial Virtual Console announcement at E3 ('05?). I don't think there was an announcement.

I found a points card at Wal-Mart last night, so now I have 3200 points. I'm holding off until Monday to see what we get. No matter what though, I'm setting 800 points to the side that's being used exclusively for Super Mario RPG, which I expect sometime in March.

I'm going crazy waiting for Beetle Adventure Racing (N64). I hope we get it soon. That, Super Mario World, and the Donkey Kong Country Series, are my most wanted games on the VC.

Oh, btw, I wanted to mention that if anybody is looking to get the Genesis games on the VC, you can get all but one of them on GameTap (77 Genesis titles in total) for $5-10/month. Most major controllers, including the Xbox 360 one, are supported.

Me too. I'm not sure that's an official release, though - it's seemed to have vanished from all VC release lists. That would be a total drag if that never hits. 8(

^ I think Nintendo wants to bring it to the VC, but they still haven't been able to finalize deals with EA to use their games. That could explain Beetle Adventure Racing being pulled from the ESRB site and many VC lists (except for this one).

I'll be devastated if this one never hits the VC.

EDIT: EA considers the VC (1/17/07)

GS: And that presumably goes for Virtual Console as well?

CB: We're evaluating all of that right now, and obviously EA brings to the table a huge line-up of classic retro games. I think the content is there, and now we're just evaluating the business opportunity and the operational specifics on how we take those titles to market – which ones, and how we'd go about doing it.

A Question jsut popped up in my head, now well probobly never see it, but could No Mercy be released as a VC title? or any title that features retired athletes and whatnot?

Their names would either have to be removed or the developers/publishers would have to sign new deals with those guys just for that game.

Yeah as was previously said, no announcements yet... but I just cannot wait for it! Hopefully it will sell a lot, and make Nintendo realize that people DO want Mother 3 here. (I can live in fairy tale land, right?)

Nintendo realizes that people want Mother 3 here and that the series has a decent following, they just don't care.

With that info, I won't be holding my breath for BAR. That stinks.

I hate EA with an extreme passion. I haven't bought a game from them since Madden 2001 or SSX3 (can't remember which one came first). This is the reason why I hate them. They can't do anything to please gamers and always think about their monopolistic pockets. BAR was one of the best N64 games and there should be no reason to "ponder" the thought of releasing it.

^ Well in this case, I hope they think about their monopolistic pockets. Releasing BAR or other EA games on the VC would be easy money for them. It would be a win-win situation. I don't see why any company would hold back from releasing old games on the VC.

Anyway, EA is not ALL bad. They do make the SSX series after all (SSX Blur (game #5) coming soon to the Wii!).

keeping my fingers crossed for Streets of Rage tomorrow... it's past due! come onnnnn.

also on my wishlist (of not-yet-announced titles):
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Rock 'N' Roll Racing

Zombies would be so frickin sweet. Add that to my own wishlist, along with Baseball Stars, Ikari Warriors, Tecmo Super Bowl, and SM 2.

SSX Blur will probably average 6s-7s on the scores and will not be nearly as classic as the other games. This is an educated guess though and is based off the Tony Hawk Downhill Jam that they released. And I'm not knocking on them because they are big, but because they make crappy games now. BAR was one of the games that EA used to take their time on and it showed. Even Madden used to be fun. When they bought the NFL rights it became clear that EA didn't care about gamers at all. That's when I stopped caring about them. Hmm...let's go buy scarface! Oh, it's just a GTA clone that plays and LOOKS like GTA3. EA does have the Sims 2 and my sister owns that, but that's the only thing I can say they have done right in the past several years.

I want Streets of Rage and/or DKC. I only have 1000 blocks of space left and am running out of room quick!

There's proof that you know nothing. The NFL proved that they don't care about gamers by going exclusive and auctioning off the license. Nobody just went and bought the license.

That's only after buying out Maxis though . . .

Anything Will Wright touched doesn't count... he's about the only one with a soul at EA, and even his IP has been abused in true EA form.

I was just letting go my hatred for EA when I went shopping for FIFA '07 on the 360. They didn't even bother to include 8 of the national sides that played in the last World Cup. Or over 350 international clubs. I fear they're going to try to sell expansion packs on marketplace live, which is absolute B.S.

But anyway, back on topic, I can't imagine tomorrow will be all that great for the VC. They've given us a couple of weeks in a row with some stellar launches. The timing is right for a week of C-grade NES and TG-16 games, and that's okay. I've got my hands full over here already!

WTF are you talking about?

EA was pushing the deal for years. The NFL finally caved in.

I can agree with this. I downloaded Mario Kart 64, Super Mario World, and Contra 3 on Thursday. These will keep my roommate and I busy for a while. Still, DKC or Streets of Rage would just add to the greatness. Here's to hoping.

Read your own article:

A source close to the negotiations said it was at a spring 2004 off-site meeting attended by top NFL officials that the league determined it would take the league license exclusive. GameSpot was told the league put the license up for bid and that EA was among as many as five software publishers competing for it. An EA spokesperson said today, "Obviously, exclusives are more expensive. We are most certainly paying a premium."
Kirby's Adventure will be the big one for tomorrow
I hope that happens soon. It'd be my first VC purchase since SMB.

It's only going to hurt EA in the long run anyway. Their football games are getting increasingly crappier, and I believe they are not selling nearly as well as past games.

Competition is a good thing for us consumers, thankfully the (if I remember correctly) NHL, and NBA think the same way and have no plans on inking an exclusive deal.
I have no points.
Me either, and I just used what was left in my bank account last night

The True free Wii points can't come soon enough!!!

Another glorious VC Monday. This week = franchises missing next gen sequels week. Half true for Kirby. Its like they saw what the good games bring in and they decided to keep a steady pace. Kirby is a buy for me and I'm eyeing Kid Icarus. Is Ice Climbers in Animal Crossing or was it one of those cheat only games?

Since I never played Ice Climbers, I'll be buying that, whenever I get decide to buy Wii points. And I'll probably buy the other two as well.

Hooray for selling Nightmare in Dream Land for $25 so I can rebuy Kirby's Adventure for $5!

Hmmmm I have 600 points...Kirby or KI? I have beaten Kirby before on the NES, and only played KI once. Isn't KI one of those really hard games to finish?

I already have Kirby on NES, and I'm thinking it's one of those I can pass over.

Actually, I don't own Ice Climbers or Kid Icarus. Maybe it's time I gave Kid Icarus a try.

I'm not at home right now and am trying to figure out how many blocks NES games take up? Preferably in comparison to the snes or sega ones. If I have 1000 blocks left, would I have 900 after kirby or somewhere closer to 950?
Kid Icarus has my full attention. Back the fuck up, eggplant wizards!
Kid Icarus features codes like NES Metroid, right? So I wouldn't have to try to beat it in one sitting, correct?

I remember playing KI when I was a kid, but I don't remember all that much about it, except that it was harder than hell.

VC has save states... you can quit and resume playing right where you left off.

I know about the save states, but they can be lost if the Wii loses power while you are playing, etc. I was just asking for confirmation on the code system.
