MORTAL KOMBAT!!!! - "Komplete Edition" coming Feb 28th - see post 970

I thought I was getting a better handle on this game, but after playing some Ranked I realize that I still don't understand how and when to punish things correctly, especially against Scorpion. I'm just not sure when it's safe to retaliate.

I'm also having a really tough time against teleporters. I know that high blocking a teleport leaves a huge punish window, but it seems like teleports are the anti-anything and can beat jumps, projectiles, and slower normals on reaction. They're essentially the Shoryuken of this game, except they can hit from anywhere on the screen.
Does anyone know if the exclusive "classic" skins are going to be purchasable on DLC?
Yes they will. No dates or prices yet.

I would consider buying a bundle. Otherwise, aren't the new costumes way better than the classics?

Raiden Can't duck Shao Khans hammer.. and trying to spam the bolt.. is bs ! every time I throw a bolt he throws a spear that I don't have time to transition out of throwing a bolt to avoid getting pierced. I have it set on hard though

That's kind of the same problem I'm having. It seems like things that are supposed to be punishable aren't and vice versa. There's not really a good anti-air/get-off me move, except uppercuts which are very situational. One thing I've found that's effective with Liu Kang & Smoke against jump-ins or cross-ups is dashing towards where the opponent was jumping from.

As far as teleports - I think most of them like Scorpion/Smoke can be ducked under or blocked on reaction. Unfortunately that's not really possible online, so you kind of have to predict. I know I was having a hell of a time when you were playing Scorpion the other day and not really trying.

There are so many puzzling things about this game .

I took him out without much of a problem last night.
As soon as the match started, I distanced myself and that triggered an awful lot of taunting. Every time he taunted, I did the flying push, and immediately backed up across the screen. Keep doing that every time he taunts, keep your distance, and duck alot. and X-ray him when you get the chance. It's cheap, but it worked almost flawlessly for me.

Well dunno if its my setting, but every time I back away his ass comes right along with me attacking at the same time hahaI can't back up fast enough sometimes

Teleport behind him, A, A, B. Easy.

I'm getting really frustrated with the online community's tendency to only play teleporters.

There are some characters like Sindel that seem so basic and unable to compete. She has two fire balls and a useless hover mode - what's the point? Then you have other characters like Sub - Zero, Cyrax, and Ermac that have 4 to 6 special moves, most of which are useful. Am I missing something?

Also, what is the best thing to do with Quan Chi's mind control? It's easy to pull off, but mostly just leaves you both "stunned" almost the entire duration.

Sindel got some decent moves, though I imagine her hover works best in Test your Luck matches when not touching the ground is an advantage.

As for Quan Chi's mind control, yes it does stun your opponent and yourself somewhat but consider the opponent walking towards you and you unable to move for a few seconds like sub zero freezing your target and then you having to walk toward them. I'd suggest learning some Quan Chi combos and turn on the juice if you get a mind control off...or just for for the neutral punch/pop up.
Twice. You do get your health back after the first set though.
is this where you fight the dead warrior's souls? i swear i hate my life during this fight, almost impossible!(then again i thought this about facing kintaro/goro 2v1 and i spammed attacks and beat it easily so i guess i just have to find a good spam sadly)

Correct

This. Use the teleport and hit a combo. I found it easier to beat him with Raiden than with most others.

Well nice to see the 360 version has now been hacked instead of just the PS3 unless they were unlocked. I wonder when they will come out.

you know there's going to be a lot more alternate outfits for everyone, and probably some silly ones to boot...looks promising, though unless they're a real bargain I think I'll just get my favorite characters.
according to toysrus ad did any dlc become available today?
no.

if it did, it'd be all over these forums with...zomg check out teh new DLCs!

yeah, you can vote for your favorite femme fatale through their FB page. I voted for Kitana.

on a lighter note...I'm glad I was able to find someone to trade my extra Kitana dlc for Scorpion.

so like 50% of who i play online are ermak and kung lol :(

then again i play cage and just shadow kick to death hehe

GGs last night Guardian & Shinobi. Lots of fun matches. And just so you don't think I'm crazy....

The game would be way better if this started playing when you hit Cage's X-Ray ;)

140 wins / 20 Losses... Not bad so far. ;)
The above mentioned people and I usually get a game going Wednesday night. Although I don't know for how much longer if the netcode doesn't get fixed. Especially since BlazBlue's CSII balance patch drops next week.

I have never heard that before in my entire life. I thought you were talking about the movie soundtrack. That is... a painful song.

Good games to Tom and Shinobi!
Tried to play online this morning and it was unplayable due to lag. Is this common?
No, it's not. The online is pretty broken right now... especially against randoms, and especially in high volume lobbies.

I haven't felt so much gaming rage in a while till I got to the last fight in story mode. I think I spent at least 90 min on that one alone last night.

Just spam teleport and uppercut, then use x-ray whenever possible.

you will experience many more instances of gaming rage when you hit the challenge tower...some challenges "seem" simple but the computer's AI wil berserk on you and you'll be like, wtf?

I'm actually having trouble with the Jax mission where you have to kill the Tartakans or whatever they are as they come running toward you. The bigass one that can take 10 hits just...won't die. I've only just started the Mission Tower, so I haven't given it that many tries, but it was frustrating me.

I'm starting to really like Reptile. Seems like hes got some moves that you can start some serious combos with.

If all else fails you can "buy" your way to completion. I'm up to 299 and surprised I haven't thrown my controller through the window yet or skipped any challenges.

I hope somewhere down the road all the kombat kredits earned can be used for something after you've unlocked everything...i.e. buying fatalities and more outfits.

I always get the feeling that I'd enjoy the fighting games that I own a lot more if I had a fighting stick. It's still fun, but a stick seems like it's definitely the way to go. I guess I'll try to see if I can find one for cheap.

i would agree/disagree. With MK, controller is definitely the way to go in my opinion. There are no combos that controllers cannot perform consistently, and i just prefer holding a controller. Though with MVC and SF, the move set basically force you into a stick with the advanced combo's being almost impossible to consistently do.

I will never buy another mortal kombat after this one. someone explain to me why they make shaokhan 5-6 times stronger than you?. I dropped to beginer and have spent more time fighting shaokan with raiden at end of story area than took me to get there. this is bull crap I get5% on a combo it hits me for a 3hit combo for 52% and that is on the easiest setting. only way to win is sure dumb luck. they have taken all fun out of this game

Pretty sure Goro, the sub-boss in the original MK for arcade, was both stronger than every playable character and un-grabbable so it's not exactly a new concept. Does a tough boss really take ALL the fun out of a game for you?
