MORTAL KOMBAT!!!! - "Komplete Edition" coming Feb 28th - see post 970

When did Freddy learn martial arts on the level of Mortal Kombat? j/k, I take it now any Warner Bros. IP is doable for MK now. If he matches my playstyle, I'm down.
 
I'm guessing if DLC sales are good enough we'll get DLC seasons which are comprised of 3 MK characters and 1 random. There are still a few characters I would've liked to see as DLC.
 
Pretty cool, but they really should have done both Freddy and Jason. No Robert Englund voice kind of sucks as well (not that he's considered to be Freddy by the studio anyway at this point).

It could have been much worse though, so I'm still pretty excited.
 
Hmm, I can't say I'm much of a Freddy Krueger fan, but I am a fan of videogames doing unpredictable and off the wall things, so win!

Maybe as DLC one day with the black trenchcoat, bone claws like in New Nightmare? There has to be alt. kostumes for DLC considering Skarlet had one.

If I remember correctly before the release of MK9, Ed Boon was discussing the possibilities of DLC and one of them was Freddy and Jason as some kinda Halloween pack. So there's still a chance, but fudge that! Give me Ash from Evil Dead/Army of Darkness and I'll pay 1600 points for him alone.

There's alt kostumes for the DLC? How do I unlock them? I've beaten their arcade modes and still don't have alts.

There isn't (my bad on the phrasing), but more so was saying how Skarlet's alternate kostume has been shown around the internet for awhile now. So just under the theory that they have to be coming out as DLC eventually.

I think Freddy can be a cool addition to the cast. Just depends on how he plays. If anyone wants to play send me an invite on live.
 
Just bought this game the other day, and now I find out Krueger is DLC. Awesome.

Question though. The season pass, is it still bugged somehow? I thought I recall hearing about an issue with it before, and was A) wondering if it was fixed B) if it isn't, if there's a work around to said problem or not.

The issue was that if you bought it from the dashboard, it didn't work. You had to have bought it in-game.

Not sure if they fixed it or not, but best to just do it in-game to not accidentally screw yourself.
 
Freddy's fatality... carve's your head in a circle, takes out your brain, says loudly "You've got the body, and I've got the brain!"
 
I'm massively stoked that it's Freddy Kreuger. I'm severely less stoked that it's the abysmal remake version, but, I mean...it's freakin' Freddy Krueger. It can't not be awesome.

And being that Warner Bros. owns both Freddy and Jason...I don't even need to elaborate on that.
 
Is it wrong I was hoping Tanya is in this simply for a before game taunt Freddy says "Yummy. DARK MEAT!" Like in Freddy vs. Jason?

hahaha, I'm glad the money I saved from not watching Freddy vs. Jason was well spent on the Season Pass.

Thanks. Not going to buy it right away, but good to know for when I get some more points.
 
Freddy is certainly an interesting addition to the roster. When you think about it he does fit nicely into the MK universe.
 
A little disappointed there was no Shinnok, or any boss(especially Goro), since they'd fit the story of the actual game better, but I'm sure they're saving Shinnok for the sequel anyway. Khameleon was a darkhorse candidate for me, since atleast he/she appeared in MKTrilogy. Well, there's always ULTIMATE Mortal Kombat 9, I guess.

My girlfriend loves Freddy; maybe she'll play his arcade ladder for his ending! I only wish they had some weird move where he had the really long arms from the first film. But it'd probably just have a Mr. Fantastic weird thing going on.

I can understand that too, some folks at on the internet say that Freddy got his ass whupped by Shao Kahn and decided that he needed 2 claws to beat him. Also the fact that the stance changes might be weird if he didn't have both claws. Or it could be design or copyright issues.
Either way I'm happy to have Freddy.

Has everyone here completed the Challenge Tower? I'm on 251 and it's making me want to pull my hair out. The battle is Baraka, Sindel, Shao Kahn in a row fighting with Shang Tsung.
 
yeah, the challenge tower was very challenging...some of the trials seemed impossible but if you stick at it you somehow get it after a while. also the computer after many failures seems to tone down the difficulty.
 
I am very impressed with this game. I bought the collector's edition a week ago at Best Buy. This outing is so feature rich it's unbelievable! So much packed in. It just wows me every time I play it. So far I'm on Challenge Tower #180, and I haven't skipped any stages, but I did need turbo on level #179. Being Ermac and getting whooped over 20 times by Noob and SubZero was about to drive me nuts.

Story mode was very impressive. Good length, re-explaining origins, and connected the characters together so well. When Netherrealm studios (Midway) releases their next outing, I'll be eagerly awaiting! [no spoilers here, but those whom complete story mode will know.]

Oh, there was one thing that bothered me a bit, PS3 players got Kratos. Man, that woulda been so awesome! [and, I was on the fence about getting that version]

Liu Kang doesn't have a teleport and wow...I'd rather get teleport juggled than nickled and dimed in a virtually infinite combo.
 
Woulda been better if the 4 DLC characters had unlockable alternate costumes (instead of a different shade); plus able to be viewable in the necropolis. 4 characters for 1200 MS points/$15 ain't bad (season pass). Woulda been better if it was 800 MS points/$10 instead; but you never know a sale might be in the near future.

I'd still buy the next DLC pack (season pass 2) if the characters were interesting. Some of the fatalities are way over the top and still make me cringe seeing them; as in man...that's #!&$% nasty!

It's also worth noting, since this outing shows the innards as in skeleton, muscle, and lots of blood. I found it odd when x-ray connects with male opponents in the groin region, all of a sudden they become genderless, or anatomically incorrect. This makes me laugh cause the female roster certainly got their assets very well highlighted. [e.g. vs Body World exhibit depictions]

This is by far my favorite fighting game and the most enjoyable in the whole genre; SoulCalibur and StreetFighter included. Nothing but praise for NetherRealm, this is reboot done right in so many ways.
 
you do realize NRs has been steadily giving out free alternate coustumes...while it hasn't been for all the characters yet, it's been sure and steady. again, I stress they are giving them away for free not capcoming you. so I'm going to guess the new DLC characters will eventually get their turn on the catwalk.I for one, don't need to see the new characters in the neckropolis. it would only add another 96 hours of playtime for the new characters to unlock that ridicilous time sink of an achievement. also, skarlet and rain apparently don't really have a background story as they were made up by the designers.

Just found this on the mortalkombat website, you CAN view DLC models in the necropolis.

1) First, view any render, press start to pause, and choose 'player select.' Exit prompt, choose yes.
2) Viola! this works with alternate costumes, and flashback costumes as well. cool.

re: according to the character profiles, Rain is the prince of Edenia, so doesn't that make him the brother of Kitana/Mileena/Jade?

there was something wrong with the website preventing paragraphs. hence the sentence jumble......and it still apparently affecting my account so I will separate with dots.........i was also referring to an article about MK canon and the DLC characters, I personally don't care who they add, they could add teletubbies cause you know I'd want to uppercut those sob's. developers can make up a background that fits.

Is there some way to naturally unlock the DLC character's fatalities? The ladder doesn't do it. Freddy is pretty cool. I'd buy more characters. Everyone thinks Jason is a possibility and I think that'd be fine even though I'm not his biggest fan.

Maybe a character that is a little more grounded to earth like a Sonia or Stryker type character, fiction-wise anyways. I think there are plenty of ninjas and robots. Or maybe another demonic character in the vein of baraka.

It's going too far but I would be perfectly fine if they slipped in Batman (Arkham Asylum version, of course). One of the disappointing things about MKvDC was that there were only palette swaps. Seriously, give us 60s batman, Dark Knight, there are tons of skin options with that.
