It’s official! The North American version of Muramasa: The Demon Blade will come with the wall scroll Japanese gamers got for everyone who pre-orders the game. Gamestop is now accepting pre-orders, so you might want to hurry if you’re scared of the thing selling out.

No news from Rising Star yet as to whether or not they plan to offer the scroll in Europe, but keep your fingers crossed!

Thanks for the tip Denpa no Sekai.

That is an extremely large and nice piece of artwork, especially when you compare it to the size of the Wii case.

If they're keeping it the same as the Japanese preorder bonus, it'll be double sided with artwork on both sides ^^.

Personally hoping for a different Amazon bonus (soundtrack sampler ala Dissidia, please XD?), but it's great to see that great bonus items like this are finally carrying over to other region releases *_*~

Wow, thanks for the heads-up, that looks amazing! Preordered it on the spot, but if Amazon ends up offering the same thing I'll be switching my preorder. Here's hoping.

Glad to hear that people are quite interested in the pre-order bonus. Please buy this game and support a niché developer!!!

Hm, it sounds like it might be with quite a few since it says for "everyone who preorders the game" rather than "everyone who preorders from GameStop." I'll hold onto my $40 Amazon pre-order (huzzah ECA + Gold Box) and hope they include it.

Amazon usually get fewer pre order bonus than B&M store.

I pre-ordered. I dislike Gamestop, but I can always cancel before the ship date if Amazon happens to get some. I've been excited for this game for a while, though I'm a bit unsure about how the localization is going to pan out, since Ignition is the one who picked it up after XSeed dropped it. Here's hoping it's not terrible.

Well they promised better translation than Lux Pain
OH MY GOD

Make this the Amazon preorder bonus too, plz.

Yeah, I hope Amazon get in on this.
Same here... please Amazon, take this up! I wanna save my $8 (or $10 if I get it on my GoldBox)!

Right there with ya. Even if Amazon doesn't get it, it isn't worth $15 to me (since I'd pay $55 after tax if I got it from GS).

I like that Gamestop has been offering their pre-order bonuses to online customers. I can't always guarantee that I can make it there on a title's release day, so in the past I would sometimes have to do without the bonus or try and shamelessly bum one off an employee a few days later if they had any left. Even with shipping+tax it's still good enough a bonus for me to bite, and I'll just cancel my order at a later date if Amazon ends up getting it.

You can cancel an online pre-order at Gamestop without any hassle or fees, right?

Yes, you can cancel pre-orders online. Just login and go to my orders. There is a cancel there. They will send out an email telling you that your order has completed successfully and the website will indicate that the order is "closed". click the order itself and it will reflect that it is cancelled.

Darn, the Gamestop bonus looks really good...

I love the artstyle so this is going to be a tough decision. I have the game preordered at amazon and with quickpick and ECA discounts, it is only $39.94... I just need to decide if this bonus is worth $15...
that looks like a cheap regular looking foldout poster
I agree it doesn't look very wall-scroll-ish to me... more like a poster. The artwork is amazing though. I'm fairly interested in this game, but I wasn't the hugest fan of Odin Sphere so I'm on the fence. I still am thinking I'll probably pick it up though, and may as well get the bonus if I do.

I definiltely want the game, but would rather buy from amazon...but that bonus does seem cool...I'll just wait it out a little with hopes that amazon will have it...
Interesting. I can't think of any other game that has retained the Japanese audio track while only having a text translation. Well, I guess this prevents Ignition from making a shitty dub!
Yakuza 2 on the PS2 is the same way.

Is it really a "scroll" though?......Looks Like a centerfold-out poster. GORGEOUS.....but if its just paper..............meh.
Im preordering anyway, the games looks amazeballs.

They claimed Muramasa was so heavily steeped in Japanese culture that any attempt to "Americanize" (see the Tales games from Namco Bandai) it, would completely and utterly destroy what makes the game "fun" and entertaining.

Which I believe. And dual-language options should be the the norm for all JRPGs as well.

I have this pre-ordered at GameStop but, does anyone know when this comes out for sure? GameStop says 09.01.2009, but pretty much everywhere else says 09.08.2009...

Bleh, up is still jump? I really don't understand how in 2009 jump still gets mapped to up. Looking forward to the game, would love the pre-order bonus but doubtful I'm buying new anyway and definitely not from gamestop. Too many stories of people having problem getting bonuses from them, I'll stick to their used game sections.

there arent enough buttons on wiimote + Nunchuk. Doesnt explain why it doesnt have the option for gamecube control. Just place a preorder, if they didnt get the bonus, cancel it.
Damn still no word on Amazon pre-order bonus :(
it said gamestop exclusive so it probably wont be on amazon

I understand that, but they need to find another work around. In a game that requires jumping around for bosses, enemies and the environment(all constantly, WITH a double jump and gliding?) you really just need to find a solution that isn't up. Maybe it's just me, but I think that is one of the worst control ideas ever other than just having broken controls. Again, I still plan to get it and mostly everything else looks to be really awesome, but mapping jump to up and having no way to change controls(no config, correct?) is annoying.

Not really a wall scroll but damn it is beautiful. Gonna have to pass though, some people get weirded out by posters covered in half-naked anime girls.

No joke. I'm a nerd through and through, but I try to take it easy on stuff in my room/on my computer. I have a hanging one of ichigo from bleach, then I have an actual wall scroll and painting from china(a poem and mountain painting respectively). But I tend to keep the nakedness not on display, which amounts to never showing any anime girl on any kind of printed material because they are always showing something. Of course if it was some half naked biker chick, I'd be totally normal, right? ;)

english subtitles only - no voice over localization. said itd been 2 more months in development. www.gametrailers.com has like 3 wlkthrus on 1st page by dev that gives lots of info.
and in gamespot preview they said u COULD remap buttons AND use gamecube controller.

Is this only going to be in the US version(or I guess pal too)? I thought you couldn't originally and when I heard him saying up is jump in the walkthrough I assumed you still couldn't.

If that's true, that was the only major gripe I had going into the game and I'm really looking forward to it now.(Now you got my hopes up even more :bomb:!)

Played about 45 minutes of the full version last week. Let me just saw that the game is amazing- DMC combat mixed with Castlevania/Metroid exploration. There's recipes to buy, bonus areas, flying birds, and at least bad ass boss that makes the eye-eyed guy shown look absolutely pathetic. For those that don't know the game uses a tag-team approach to your swords that vaguely resembles MvC2.

Wiimote and nunchuck play was super-smooth, but for all the old school types, there is GC pad support. From what I've seen possible GOTY. No fooling!

BTW: Shane Bettenhausen called it a 'fold out' rather than an art scroll. After seeing the game anything less than a hardcover/bound book is a crime; the art took 4 years to create.

Haha yea that pretty much sums it up. Guys can line their walls with half naked supermodels and pornstars but if I put up a tasteful, albeit revealing, wallscroll featuring an animated girl from something that I actually take an interest in it's weird and creepy. Ahh the narrowminded masses, gotta love it.

If you buy the game and return it but keep the wallscroll, do you think ebgames would ask for it back?

Amazon has a way better price with $3 dollars off plus if you have the ECA membership, you could get it for 42 rather than 50.

Thoughts?

newegg also has it for $45, and sometimes the bing cashback is at 10%
depending on your tax situation, it's another option
also, the gogamer.com price is decent

Gamestop/EB Games never ask for pre-order bonuses back. They aren't listed on the receipt, so they can't actually track them.

Um, yes, I'm aware that there will not be English voiceovers. Text translation is still localization, and that's what I was referring to.
