NFL 2007 Season Thread
That's some nice math you have there.

Next time I get a 42 on a test, I'll have to tell my professor it's really a 63.
Umm extra points INCLUDED, DUH! 8*7=56 added to the original 7 on the board = 63.
So by your logic it's perfectly ok for a college football team to keep scoring after being up 63-7 in the 4th quarter because you just never know when a miracle might happen and the opponent scores 8 TD's in a row?
Nice logical leap there.

Hey, its 24-0 going into the half, should Cassel come in and take a knee for the rest of the game?
Hey, its 24-0 going into the half, should Cassel come in and take a knee for the rest of the game?
Or the Redskins could just wave a white flag, surrender, and give the win to the Patriots.

Heck no. No lead is safe. I don't care if the Pats are up 48-0 by the 4th quarter keep Brady in there and keep throwing the ball! No mercy. Don't leave it up to chance. ;)
...and the Colts fly under the radar again :p

I'll hold all my comments for the outcome of Colts v. Pats

Can't wait for next week's game :bomb:
The Colts will have their chance to blow up the radar next week when they play the Pats. If they win that one they'll be all over the radar.
Or the Redskins could just wave a white flag, surrender, and give the win to the Patriots.
My Skins may as well pull down their pants and lay face down on the Pats logo. Same difference.

I'm sure that someday, when your team has a lead to protect, you'll figure out what to do with it.

Ah, I see they did have a lead this year against the Lions... and blew it by giving up 34 4th quarter points.

That reminds me of one of my favorite movie lines ever, from Idiocracy.

"And as history pulls down its pants and prepares to lower its ass on Not Sure's head, it will be Daddy Justice who will be crapping on him, this time."

Its weird, I barely get excited during pats games anymore. I'm just sort of used to them kicking ass. If they keep this up, I'll get more excited during the end of the season over the possibility of an undefeated season.

And now the Pats D is scorin.... man, I was expecting this game wouldn't be a freakin blow out like this whole season has so far.

Next week will be interesting indeed.

Oh yes I forgot the Bears game a couple weeks ago was the exact same situation that the Pats faced in the Dolphins game. Exactly the same.

The Bears weren't leading by 34 pts going into the 4th. Yes they had a very marginal 10 point lead which at that point was still anyone's game.

Why the heck are the Pats running. They're only up 38-0. There's still almost 12 minutes left. The Redskins are only 5 TDs (inlcuding extra pts for the mathematically impaired like CocheseUGA) and a FG away from tying things up. Better throw a couple more TD passes for good measure!

Good job by the audio guy picking up Brady's disgust at that false start by Koppen. That was great to see.

Looking at the way teams are set up in the NFL right now and in the near future, will there ever be a Super Bowl match up that even rivals the upcoming Week 9 tilt between the Pats and Colts? This is insane. It's week 9 and we're getting a hell of a game coming up.

Should be the game of the regular season. I would imagine they'd meet in the AFC Championship, too.

There will be two "unofficial" Superbowls this year. The first will be next week and the second will happen in the AFC playoffs when the Pats and Colts meet up again.

EDIT: Do'h, dafoomie beat me to the punch...

I'm having so much fun watching the patriots game. I'm a Kansas City Chiefs fan, but the patriots are just playing some amazing football. They hardly do anything wrong, and it's fun to watch them destroy their opponents.

Bad move Pats. There's still 8 minutes left and you've only got a 45 pt lead. Get Brady back in there and score some more TDs!

EDIT: Whew! I'm glad to see Cassell get that insurance score. I was worried that the Pats might let this game get away.

Not that it matters since Cassel just ran one in.

If you've ever wondered what an all-star team would be like for an entire season, you're watching it. I hope people realize how truly remarkable this is.

Looks like we gotta pull cassel out, he's gonna run up the score also. Guess we should put a kicker at QB so that the redskins don't get their feelings hurt. Also we should hug them, ask about their feelings and take them out for ice cream after the game because this country is all about protecting the feelings of the losing team. Oops, can't call the losing team the losers, might make them feel bad, guess we should call them the co-winners.

fuck saving some dignity for the Redskins, it's their fault for not putting up a better (if no) fight, let them pay for it and moan and writhe in agony
Should be the game of the regular season. I would imagine they'd meet in the AFC Championship, too.
If the actual game is even half the hype it's been getting, I say we turn around this flex scheduling to a Best of 7 deal the rest of the season between the Pats and Colts for home-field.
You betta watch out
You betta not hide
You betcha you gonna find out
What is all so inevitable
THE NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS GONNA SMOKE SOME COLTS NEXT WEEK!
It's kinda catchy, but your rhymes need some work.

I don't know who I hate worse now, the Patriots or my fucking Redskins. Luckily this is the NFL, there are no polls (that count) and 1 loss is still one loss. That being said, if I were in on the bottom of one of those piles, I would have probably broken some fingers.

great, the raiders play same time next week as the colts/pats game. fucking hell, the rest of the country is going to watch the biggest game of the year and ill get to see oakland take on houston... thank god for sports bars. how is the colts/pats game not sunday or monday night game? come on!

Maybe try Sopcast?

Next week:
Colts: 38 Pats: 35
Calling it right now

I know, I know. The Pats are by far the best team in the NFL. I just think that the Colts will win. Have no idea how, they just will. The only team that has a shot against the Pats are the Colts anyway, might as well pick em.

Well, karma has to meet the Pats sometime, why not next week? :)

The matchup has been in primetime the last 4 or 5 years. I think it was an act of goodwill towards CBS so they could keep one of their marquee matchups

I think it was CBS locking out NBC and ESPN when the scheduling was done.

The Eff You TD

Summary: Everyone came out of the woodwork to bash the Pats and try and invalidate their SB victories in the wake of the whole "spygate" nonsense. When everyone involved in football knows damn well it's not an isolated, Patriots only thing - and it had little to do with the dynasty. It was like the perfect chance to get kicks in on the Pats and act righteously holier-than-thou. So this season, there's no mercy rule. No polite victories. If you want to villify the Pats, then prepare for them to fill the role.

Pats/Colts is going to be awesome. I'm constantly impressed by Peyton Manning (but not his crappy commercials, heh. or his asshat brother).

Pats will beat the Colts next week. 44-24.

I love how everyone was saying how the Skins have a great D and NE wouldn't put up big numbers against them. Well they scored the most points against the 4th ranked D Skins then they did against any team in the league.
