This Dallas Drive is a perfect example of what I don't understand about Dallas.
First, let me say I was wrong about Romo. he's the real deal. Last year I thought he was overhyped. But he proved his moxie this season. however, that series where he takes a fourteen yard sack and then throws a brilliant 20 yard pass is exactly why i thought he was hyped too much last year. He seems to have menbtal breakdowns where he damages his team on a play. But thn he has two brilliant plays to make it up. Last year it was more the other way around.
But this is really his first full season in the league. So he'll keep learning and getting better and better. I think he's going to eventually have a long, brilliant career.
But then Dallas as a team seems to have discipline issues. They've had a couple penalties today that were in regards to retaliation after the previous play they felt slighted by NY. And they probably were. But you don't retaliate. That personal foul against strahan was an example of that. And then their blocking is average. They have the talent. But last year their blocking was an issue, and they've had problems blocking today. But they're so good, they still score a ton of points.
Also, their coaching has been terrible. I can't recall the last time they ran the ball. they have plenty of time, but the coach isn't calling anythiung that doesn't get them ten yards. Yes, the Giants secondary may be weak, but if you don't run the ball at all you're asking for trouble.
So I can't figure them out. They appear flat out better than NY, but frankly they aren't playing up to their potential. But they let NY hang around. and hang around, and that will come and bite you at home.
Well, it looks like Dallas gets one more chance, and I don't know if they're going to have a four-an-out or throw a 40 yard play for a touchdown. They're that inscrutable to me.
