NFL 2007 Season Thread
LOL I remember the play you're talking about Inf... I think it happened on MNF.
Yup, that was a MNF game. It's the Al Michaels "He did what??" game.

If Crumpler is smart, he'll sign with a non-turf team and see if that fixes his ailing knees.

MANAGUA, Nicaragua -- The New England Patriots won the Super Bowl and ended the season with a perfect 19-0 record -- at least it looks that way in Nicaragua.
The NFL donated 290 Patriots hats and an equal number of team jerseys trumpeting the slogans "Super Bowl Champions, 19-0" to impoverished children from two small communities in southern Nicaragua.
Thursday's gifts could not change history -- the Patriots lost the Feb. 3 game to the New York Giants 17-14 -- but they made a lot of youngsters in the communities of San Gregorio and Buena Vista very happy, said Miriam Diaz, spokeswoman for the humanitarian organization World Vision, which arranged the donation with the NFL.
"They [Patriots] lost, but the children won," Diaz said.
The only "football" most of the children know is soccer, but they were very enthusiastic about the U.S. version of the game once the rules were explained to them, she said.
"They were very happy to receive the hats and jerseys," Diaz said. "They said they did not expect such a surprise."

Neither did the Patriots.

I'm not even sure what to think of that. Seems kind of insulting almost.

Could be, I'm too lazy to find it.

It is edited. But it makes me think of how many times those kids got NFC EAST Champion jerseys with the Eagles logo on it.

Its edited:

Its done every year. Just never seen or mentioned by anyone.

There was an article on ESPN a while ago about one of their writers seeing a Bears Super Bowl Champs shirt on a boy in Africa, then they did a whole article on it.
Bears cut "Moose" and resigned Alex Brown today. No surprises there.
Good job keeping Brown. Now if they'll just go back to rotating between him and Mark Anderson, the DE position will be much, much better.

Any ideas on how much salary space cutting Muhammed freed up?

Bumping for more Bears news. Darwin Walker's $5.2 million option was declined and offensive tackle Fred Miller was released (finally...).

Dallas Cowboys Grabbing LB Zack Thomas for a 1 year contract. I couldn't be anymore happy. O yea I can be, Dallas is also going after shutdown CB Deangello Hall and WR Javon Walker :D

Wow, Newman & Hall at the corner, the only thing that will be able to stop them would be Romo or Jessica Simpson... Oh wait

Seriously though that would be shutdown corners on both sides.

Yea I would be really happy if we landed Newman. He really don't need him since we do have Anthony Henry who is pretty solid but got hampered with a big injury last year and never came back 100%.

We really wouldn't need Walker are any other WR unless Glenn doesn't come back healthy.

You mean Hall? You already have Newman (the highest drafted player from the K-State Wildcats ;)). I'm glad that Thomas didn't go to the Pats.

Oppps Not sure why I typed Newman but yea I meant Hall :D

I'm pretty suprised Da Bears actually resigned Grossman. Maybe they think now that he is playing for low money he will actually try to prove himself. I bet they will go after a QB in the draft or Free Agency. I think Pennington could be a good fit in Chicago. Not sure if the Jets are looking to move him though ( They should since NYJ fans boo the shit out of him, even though he is a solid QB )

I hope we're planning to draft or sign a free agent. Griese is crap, Orton has some potential but is unproven, and we all know what Grossman brings to the table. I guess given the QBs currently on the roster Rex is the best option but being the best turd in the toilet doesn't really mean much.

Funny thing is Rex could've had a bunch more cash. Chicago tried to sign him to an extension before the 2007 season asking for a "hometown discount" in return. He said no probably banking on having a huge season and commanding top free agent cash... yeah how'd that work out for ya?:dunce:

EDIT: I don't want ANYTHING to do with Pennington. Stick a fork in him, he's done!

They should've just named him their franchise player \\:D/

No way, we need to add a few more QBs so we can add to the famous Packer fan's tally of QBs in the Windy City since since Favre. ;)

EDIT: I mean if we keep throwing QBs out there one of them has to stick right?

A while back, on FoxSports I believe, I heard someone do something about the possibility of the Bears bringing in a Mr. Brady Quinn to the table. It could be plausible because of Cleveland's success with Derek Anderson. Yet, in all likelihood I doubt it, mainly due to Chicago's ridiculous cheapness.

Yeah that's true. They didn't even want to give Lovie Smith the contract he deserved even after taking the team to the Superbowl. Cleveland may end up in a Brees/Rivers in a few years if Anderson keeps playing well. One of two things will happen. Most likely the Bears will cheap out and not spend the cash on a guy like Quinn or if they do they'll break the bank to get him and he'll go Cade McNown on us.

Like in the mid 90's when we gave up a first round pick and signed Rick Mirer to a big contract :dunce:

I'm convinced that if Darren McFadden is available at the #3 pick, the Falcons need to jump on that. Then, with #31 (if the Me-Hall trade goes through), pick up Brian Brohm. If not, he might still be there at #5 in the 2nd.

That would be a great draft in and of itself.

I'm not too high on mcfadden. I dont have him in my top 5 in my mock draft. He has a lot of Reggie Bush type tools that haven't translated well for him in the pros. He's a home run threat when he has the football and played in the tough SEC very well. The cons for were that he didn't like to run inside much and always pushed the ball to edges, 23 fumbles in his 3 years is very disturbing for a potential top 5 pick, I think he doesn't do the little things a RB is supposed to do to be every-down back (blitz pick-up, check-down routes), and more importantly he has off-the-field issues. I like mendenhall more than mcfadden actually as he reminds me of terrell davis even though he could be a one year wonder. I think with Mike Smith there, I think he can go after either the 2 Longs, Dorsey, or Ellis. Those 4 are u know what i can get from those 5-star prospects. Maybe in the 2nd round Atlanta has two-second round picks (thanks to Houston for the matt schaub trade) in which one could be a QB in Henne or Flacco. I love Flacco a lot as he reminds me of more athletic Drew Bledsoe (superb arm, almost 6' 7", very good accuracy, can roll out of the pocket and make throws, good intangibles).
Looks like the Bears resigned TE Desmond Clark.
Thank goodness. Now as long as Greg Olsen will continue to mature and stay healthy, I think the Bears have a dangerous tight end combination, much like that of their corners in Tillman & Vasher.

I don't want to see another draft on a first round QB. I'd much rather see Chicago grab somebody like Mendenhall (I'm only slightly biased as I'm an Illinois student). Get a quarterback later in the draft with a lower pick. Colt Brennan or Chad Henne anyone?

I'm not sold on Chad Henne and I don't want anything to do with Colt Brennan. He's got Andre Ware written all over him (puts up huge numbers against weak college teams then flames out in the NFL).
If I were the Bears, I'd draft a big time WR...
We've got to get this QB thing figured out so we have someone to throw to the WR first.

well maybe the QB isn't the problem.. but the WRs are.. and having no running game is as well.. I don't care who you are, if you have no supporting cast you'll look like shit.. Cedric Benson isn't the guy they thought they drafted. They also paid way too much for Mushin Muhammad.. They still don't have a #1 WR and without Thomas Jones their running game is garbage..

Agreed.

Looks like a few AFC teams have interest in Shaun Rogers....hopefully the Lions get SOMETHING for him. He can be dominate if he really wants too.

McFadden's off-field issues are relatively minor. Ooh, he fathered a child. Ooh, he may have acccepted gifts from boosters. Michael Vick was a saint in college, comparatively. Doesn't mean it translates to the next level.

McFadden's combine is by all accounts superior to Peterson's. Better broad jump, faster in the 40...Todd McShay said he's be shocked if he wasn't a top 5 pick.

Atlanta went defense with it's first pick last year, I don't think you'll see the same. I think Dorsey is going to drop further than everyone expects. I'd take Chris Long if I didn't get McFadden, I don't think I would take Matt Ryan.

Just saw on the ESPN ticker, the Jets are giving Vilma the go ahead and talk with other teams except for.....
The Patriots

HAHA thats funny...I didn't know they could pick some teams to talk to and not others.

as long as we Re-sign Randy Moss (which we WILL!) I'll be happy. Then we just need to draft a CB to replace Samuel (who I doubt they will re-sign) and with Colvin coming back off injury, we should be ok. I"ll take a 37-1 record over 2 seasons ;-)

I still don't understand the love for Joe Flacco, I guess it's the fascination with the fact that he can throw the football 500 yards over them mountuhnz.

The one player i'm high on, that is slipping fast is Andre Woodson. While his delivery is quirky, and hasn't played that well in the Senior Bowl (Due to playing in Martz system), he'd be a great 3rd-4th rd pick. I'd love if the 49ers took a look at him. He has a pretty decent arm, better than Booty, Ainge, or Brennan, who are expected to be drafted around then.

I'd love a draft for my 49ers of:

1st- Quentin Groves
2nd- Limas Sweed

Still haven't filled out the whole board yet. Word has DeShaun Foster signing with my 49ers, i'm down with that signing, and same with Justin Smith DE Benglas signing as well, i'd rather have him then Briggs.
D. Hall on the Giants? what do you guys think?
DeAngelo Hall +Aaron Ross = fuckin' Brutal.

While Hall is a lot of talk, he can cover anyone he wants, when he wants to. Depends, what you give up.
D. Hall on the Giants? what do you guys think?
As long as he's not on the Steelers or Falcons next year, I will send him off at the airport.

Supposedly the Niners will finally have a decent Kick/Punt returner. Reports are saying they are going to sign Allen Rossum. They are also looking to trade for WR Shaun Mcdonald.
