NHL 09 CAG Team 2.0 - CAG Hockey Night - On Hiatus - Have a great summer! :)

Welcome back to the CAG NHL hockey thread. The loser bracket is on the 19th page at the end. N8 and I are playing tomorrow. Everyine else get the first game done by Tuesday. Post the results here as I will be updateing the brackett weekly

Mr. Hockey, when can you play? I am uncertain about today (Sunday, that is) but Monday afternoon/evening and Tuesday afternoon/evening before 8 Eastern, followed by later that evening when I return from the gym are all times when I will be available.

I have two hours from now, then I have to go out for a couple hours then I'm back again for the night. Let me know.

A great battle just took place In Buffalo. The Edmonton Oilers came in looking to move on in the winners bracket of the Loser Tournament. The steady play of Miller and the Sabre's defense kept it tight till Roy scored the winner on the power play 11:00 minutes into the final frame.

Well done n8, you now move on to play Moo to complete the first round of the bracket. I have been religated to the b side where I will play the loser of Mr Hockey and Matt Young. Good Luck to all this should be a fun way to get our fix till the CAGHL Season 2 gets under way. Also congratulation to the finalist in Season 1 Wpark83 and SeanAmI.

Wow, great game between CaptainObvious and I. The Sabres jumped out to an early lead by scoring a goal 1:29 into the first period. That lead only lasted until 1:16 into the 2nd though, as the Oilers knotted it up. With nine minutes to play in the 2nd period, Edmonton struck again, taking a 2-1 lead. But as the clock ticked down, Buffalo answered back as Dominic Moore skated in and beat the goalie with a gorgeous shot. The teams headed into the locker room tied 2-2 with 20 minutes left to play.

Early in the 3rd, the Oilers were hit with a devastating cross-checking penalty, and gave Buffalo a chance to retake the lead. The Sabres tried to work the puck around, but a poke check sent it into the corner. Thomas Vanek raced for it, narrowly beating an Edmonton defender. He spotted Derek Roy all alone in front of the net. Vanek hits him with a beautiful pass and Roy buries it to give the Sabres the lead once more!

A couple minutes later, Buffalo was hit with a penalty of their own, giving Edmonton a chance to tie the game again. But the Sabres defense was relentless and closed the door on the Oilers for a 3-2 victory, despite being outshot 17-11.

Great game CaptainObvious! I haven't played too many games with that much scoring that were still competitive. There were 3 lead changes in the game alone. Really had a lot of fun playing you man. Thanks!

Actually, ya know what...I did all that talking, and I'm not even sure it was Miller. He's back from that vicious Scott Gomez hit now, but when was the last roster update? I'm so used to playing with him in my franchise, I didn't even think about him not being on the most recent roster. It might have been Lalime in net. No wonder I managed to win, hahaha :)

I just now saw your post. Can you play at 11:15 P.M. Eastern or is that too late? I'm sorry, my sleep schedule's been all fucked up and I haven't been getting to sleep until like 10 A.M. for the past few days. I don't know what I'm going to do with an 8 A.M. class today, followed by another at 10:30. Ugh. I'm going to need a serious nap when I get home.

I wish I was going to sleep. More than likely, no sleep till another 10 hours from now. I just hope I can be awake in case Mr. Hockey can play. Seriously, having bipolar disorder, ADD, and insomnia can be a huge pain in the ass even when one is on medication for all 3. The amphetamine for ADD probably worsens my pre-existent insomnia.
 
sorry man. I just now saw the posts from yesterday. What time today before 8. Normally I can't play before 8 but I'll be home between 6-8

I'm 99% sure I can't play before 8 Eastern today. As I said earlier, I expect to go to sleep after returning home from school. That's why I asked if you could play at 11:15 Eastern. If I can't sleep, I'll be far too out of it to concentrate on a game, anyway. If that's the case, I'll take some sleeping pills and try to get to sleep around 10 my time to get back on track.

So basically, what I am saying is this- I may be able to play tonight, but only if I sleep after school, and not until 11:15 Eastern. If you'll be on, let me know and I'll play you if I'm awake. If you wouldn't be on normally at that time, do not wait up for me.

If we can't get this going tonight, and I won't count on it since I'm severely limiting potential game times for the evening, how about tomorrow? I can play at the times you specified if you are available at those same times tomorrow.
 
Sean, I'm an idiot. I can't play Tuesday night. I could still play tonight, but more around 8:30, or Wednesday. Let me know. My apologies on the mix up.

Chunky and I played a hard fought devensive struggle. Went through regulation and overtime tied at 0. In the shootout, Deimitra was able to snea one through Price's five-hole, and Roberto stood tall and stopped all three Canadians to give the Canucks the 1-0 win in the first round of the Loser's Bracket. Great game Chunky!

Game 2 is tomorrow.

You guys don't play each other twice. You move on in the top bracket, Marino, and Chunky goes down to the lower bracket. I think that's what the numbers are for. At least that's the way I understood it when I played CaptainObvious.

Yeah. I think I'm either good at defense, or I totally suck at offense. Probably the latter.


BTW, I think I'll sit out on the second CAG league. I'm getting a little burned out on nhl, and I hate feeling like I have to play a game when I'd rather play something else.

Let me just say that I want n8 in the second round. :)

Due to my shitty connection I forfeited my two games against him. I'd like to try to play a full game against you n8, but if it craps out again, then maybe its a sign haha.
 
Great game, Hockey. That was more fun than any league game I played. It was nice to have the real Jonathan Quick, rated 79, plus Justin Williams.

The whole game was dead even till I scored those 2 in the 3rd. I had the advantage on shots due to going on the power play 3 times as often, but everything else was pretty much even.

You had the same problem I did in the league, post-patch: inability to stay out of the box. Those 6 penalties killed you, as my only 2 goals were on power plays. Brodeur was a beast otherwise. #1 star with 31 saves.

When you guys mention a draft for season 2, are you referring to picking your team? or drafting players for your team? How will new people go (I assume late in the order)
 
Picking the teams is the reason for the draft. I'm not sure how it is going to work, but i do know that the new GM's will be picking later in the draft.

Good Game Destro. I uploaded that damn Hand Goal But I can't find it for the life of me on EA Sports World. I guess it has to do with my Gamertag and EA ID or something. Anyways, Good game. Who is Destro going up against next?

Yeah matt two 5 on 3s will kill ya any time. I calmed down in the second and third but damn that first period the ref was whistle happy.
