Edit: Go ahead and send an invite to Rikson. I had a 48 hr trial for Gold and tomorrow I'll get a year long sub. gold card since I hate using my cc since MS automatically charges it when it's about to expire w/o notice.

This is the easiest way to join the team. Do a search for teams in the online mode and enter CAGs as the team name then search. The team will appear in the results and then you can join the team. I'll try to send some invites out but I have to do each one individually.
 
ok really, I need help or suggestions on how to get online...

it says i need to be signed on xbox live, I am... it says i need to also be signed into EA servers... i guess i must not be... there is also an option in this game on the main menu to sign into EA... (WTF.. there other gamnes do not have that option) and I can't.... when i pick that option it says the same error messgae i get when trying to play online or set up a team or see my locker room or anything...

Just curious, but are the sign-ups private or at least approval based? Otherwise, this team is going to be full before half of us get in. I'm getting the game from yourfree360games (but I might just run out and buy it and do a return later).

Also, how custom are the jerseys? I'm still a little attached to the logo that I made a while back, haha, and I was hoping we could at least incorporate it somehow. I know it's highly unlikely it can be put on the jersey, but is there anything we can do with it?

I should have to approve. If anything I can kick people who join and aren't supposed to.

Try signing up for a easportsworld.com account or create an XBL account on EAsports.com

I believe you have to do something like that, but I don't remember for sure.
 
got the online to work... but it doesnt tell me how to join after i found the team... all it let's me do is challenge the guys already there

i guess try to re-add me... DestroVega... should work now that I was able to log on

I got the game this afternoon. I'll probably create my character and play a couple single player games tonight to get the hang of it. Tomorrow afternoon/evening I'll play online.
 
This game is f*cking fun with 6 people. I played with PureApathy, S3an, Maynard and two other people. Its a blast. Playing against a team with no human controlled goalie is a joke. If you havent tried Goalie you should its fun but its hard. Thats why people cant get mad at me when I play

I have online problems this afternoon... I basically change my password on EA's website, log in to make sure my account linked to my Gamertag is working... I register the fuckING game and I come back on 5 hours after it finally working online and it's the same bullshit... I can't get online...

sorry to vent but I am seriously pissed off to no end... I'm going to bitch out EA tomorrow like it's what I was born to do... I just wanna play the fucking game tonight

Played a Be A Pro offline game to get the feel, odds are I'll be playing that mode a lot opposed to the classic 5-on-5 deal.

I'm on now, probably gonna play another offline game. Hit me with an invite for the club and message me if you need a peep. Can't use headset at the moment, though. Nephew's asleep.
 
UPDATE: I can no longer even sign into Madden to play online...

EA is getting torn a new asshole tomorrow. Do they think people shell out 60 bucks for their games nowadays to play offline?

Position doesn't even matter, it seems. I guess you could coordinate it beforehand to have only 1 player from each position, but I joined a game with 5 other CAGs. Someone else picked center first, so I was stuck with right wing. It doesn't matter too much, though.
 
Inviting people has really become a pain in the ass because I have to enter each gamertag individually. It would have been so much easier if I could have just opened up the CAG NHL 09 list and just sent invites through that.

So anyone who hasn't received an invite please follow these steps:
1: Go to the EA Sports Hockey League section
2: Search for a club
3: Enter CAGs as the team name. Then press search. The CAG team will then appear and all you have to do is select join. Once you do that I'll receive a notice and will approve you. I have to work today so I will check the notices before I go into work if I have time. If I'm not able to, it'll be sometime tomorrow night before I'll be able to accept your requests.

Good question, Pure Apathy set it up so maybe he can shed some light. Our jerseys were mainly black with some red in them. Possibly we could pick a non black home jersey because I found it really difficult to follow our team. Everyone seemed to blend together.

Yea, I was in one of those games with you guys. I think the other team had 3 user controlled players and they picked the Center and Wings. Not a fair fight at all if they do not have a user controlled goalie. If goalie is anything like it was last year then I know it is very hard so I give anyone credit for playing goalie online.

Someone mentioned it last night, but they should set the matchmaking so that if one team has a user goalie, the other team has to as well so each team at least has a fair shot.

Yeah I feel that is the only way to really make things fair. You might get more points for playing with 6 people vs. playing with 2 or 3 but if your teams goalie is player-controlled then it makes things much more difficult for you.
 
Am I missing something with the whole "Join" deal? I've found the team on the search, but there's no button or prompt to join the team.
 
The jerseys are limited to all of the clubs in the game. No customization at all. Glock, the jerseys we have has a black home version and white away. The captain can choose which jersey is worn by pressing the X button on the player ready screen (the screen before you pick your positions).

I'll be accepting invites tonight around 8:30-9:00 EST.
 
sorry for my manic outburst last night...

too much wine + not being able to play online = me freaking out.

this morning I was able to "log into EA"

we'll see if the problem is totally fixed, I passed them along an email.

hope to see some players tonight and the rest of the weekend... I will be around all day and night Fri-Sun starting tomorrow around 2 pm.
 
I had a ton of fun last night playing with a full team, but I just wanted to give props to Apathy for shutting down 3 people in that shootout we had to get us the win. :)
 
I joined up this morning (bought it yesterday, but I haven't played an EA NHL game in any depth since 2000 so I wanted to get the controls down). I'll be looking to play a game or three tonight :D (Also willing to play goalie, though no promises on how I'd do >.>)
 
it seems I keep getting the dirty disk error and it says to clean the disk with a soft cloth, this is my 2nd copy and not sure what the problem is, I know that my other games work fine but 2 copies of nhl09 not working, what are the chances
 
ChickenBoyBryan had that same problem with COD4, Costa. No copies of that game would work, but everything else would. I hope you have better luck with NHL. Anyway, I'll be on at 3 P.M. Pacific time. I'll have the next 5 hours to play, though I may have to take breaks for food and possibly Madden league games.

The 3 games I played online last night with Pure Apathy, FrankySox, Sean, and a couple others were amazing and I will be playing this game a hell of a lot for the foreseeable future. :) Between them and the single player, I didn't get to sleep until after 5:30 A.M.
