Bungie has a really good basic story and universe, but I think in dealing with the massive fanbase of drooling morons that they have, they are sort of forced to dumb things down. Look at things like the I love bees story and Marathon's story and they can right good, complex sci-fi, but I really think they just keep it accessible for the average joe madden owner who likes to play halo sometimes.

That said, Halo's still got a better story and overall fiction than about any other sci-fi shooter that's not called Half Life. And Half Life mostly gets by on its characters. The actual story of aliens taking over earth isn't much different than halo's, if you really get down to it.
When you dumb down any game, it's story is very basic bland. What point where you trying to prove there?

RB6V2=GOTY.

That Half Life and Halo's stories are not that different from each other, it's just one has stupid characters that say dumb things that you don't care about, and the other has some of the best acting and animation ever put in a game. Those kind of things make a big difference. I thought maybe people would infer that from what I wrote, but that might be asking too much of the GGT.

Knee jerk reactions should have been what I expected. My fault.

What on earth is going on in here?

We need to have some GGT Brawl things going on. The spectator idea is great. Is it possible to have a few spectators who would swap in for winners or losers and have several matches like that? That'd be fun for when there's no more close friends around to play with.

Who wants to make the access database with all the friend codes from CAG.

All FC jokes aside...

This could be awesome.

I don't know. I have no real clue as to how deep the spectator mode goes. But if one could swap in/out like a weird tag-team match, that would be awesome.

only "gai nuccas" play smash brothers daroga.

I think that's slang for something bad. I'm not sure. I'd be all for Smash Bros stuff if I can get a decent connection sometime soon to play on. Or if I'm in milwaukee sometime soon.
Atleast somebody got that from his Halo analogy.
I thought it was the only one.

:grouphug:

There's "Rotation" options shown in the IGN video review starting around 4:40. They say "you can do anything for online that you can do locally." That could be fun.

fuck. I just asked a question. You didn't have to be a dick about it. I just didn't think it was relevant to what we where talking about.

I find disgaea 3 to be funny.

I has ps1 era sprites, and HD everything else.

It also has slowdown sometimes, which I cant figure out.

I still cant wait for august when that shit comes out.

I think if someone needs more than one disgaea game they need to get out more. That game never fucking ends. The blurry sprite laziness is pretty shitty too.

Inu makes jokes about Friend Codes SO HIP AND TEH EDGI

Sounds like Puzzle Fighter HD. Great game, but when you blow up old ass sprites on a 42" plasma, they look like shit.
yeah, that time when Inu said something but it was actually the opposite of what he thinks?

GENIUS

Plus all the coolest cats talk in short sentences.

Cause they just that cool and say things like nucca.

Shit.
I wanna punch you in the fucking face.

lol it's only kewl when people make fun of me and blow my statements out of proportion, and ignore them because it's not about PC gaming or Devil May Cry

I don't have anybody ignored

And that post isn't about PC gaming or DMC4.

You know what you're doing wrong so get with the program :nottalking:

DMC4 is awesome btw.

Those worms in Lost Odyssey sucked. I am past that. Now I am sneaking around some place and a dip shit guard keeps letting me out of my cage! I don't know if I like it or not. It is tough as nails and not forgiving. I am going to be sinking mad hours into it over the next few weeks. It is almost time for me to graduate and I am just blowing off my pointless classes.

It seems like more of a spectacle type thing to me, you can see that the patterns are for the most part predictable. It does require some really precise movements though, pretty awesome.

Also, thats the sequel to mushihime, not the original. (sequels harder supposedly)

hmm what to burn my $20 rz cert on(expires on the 22nd) im thinking LO DMC 4 or some other 360 game coming out this month..well that or im gonna burn it on a xbl points card

Ah the joy of tiny hitbox bullet hell games! Hard as fuck, but when you're threading the gaps, even for a little while, it's quite a thrill.

But if that's too confusing, then there's always...Monkey King!

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/31503.html

Ok, maybe that's too confusing, if in a different way. :)

Edit: ah, ok I'm bored. Old news but while we're on the subject of crazy shmups, Cave is making another sequel to Dodonpachi...Daifukkatsu. Probably plays like it sounds (or at least how I would sound when I die over and over again playing it).

Does Half-Life 1 even have characters?

Yeah, Half Life 1 has enigmatic personalities like Gordon Freeman, Scientist 1, Barney, G-Man, and some others I'm forgetting. Also, none of them matter, nor does the "story." That's the thing with FPS games. With the exception of Deus Ex and Bioshock, the stories all suck. Horribly. In fact, I don't know how people even manage to care about the G-Man's relevance to Half-Life 2... fuck, it's just some bitch in a blue suit who walks around at random times... who the fuck cares? There's no plot, there's no character development, Gordon Freeman is lame, and the dialog sucks. The people who develop FPSes almost invariably cannot write stories to go with them. Even FEAR, which I fuckin' love, has almost no plot whatsoever. It's like the people who defend Halo or Half-Life as being poetic are illiterate and also don't have access to movies.

Shu tup mr. chief is this millenium's Lao Tzu

also, just beat PW3.
Godot. respect. Though I can't shake the feeling that the whole episode could've been avoided had he just, you know, burned the fucking instructions as soon as he found them. Probably would've been better than setting up plan that would ensure that Misty would die one way or another.
As usual after I finish a PW game, I need a couple months before I dive into the next one.

Hey, I just realized I have Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga for GBA. Playing it now.

Anyone dare give me a guesstimate of how long it is?

to each his own.

Bored as shit. Getting math done for the test on thursday, and this stupid excel sheet done for tomorrow.

Yeah, the PW games are sorta repetitive, so you really do need a break between them. Not to say I don't fuckin' love 'em, but it's the kind of thing you can get burned out on.

Well anyway, I'm in the middle of the first day of (SPOILER) trial in Case 2 and I'm lovin' this game. Apollo's a legit character, and Klavier is as much of a cunt as I expected.

Speaking of which, No Cunt For Old Men was muuuucccchhhh better the second time around. I went from thinking it was aight to definitely wanting to pick up the BD release next week.

The ending for it blew balls. I finished it and was expecting this all huge climactic ending and shit and it finished and I was like "WTF?"

WTF NEXT WEEK. holy shit. can't wait to see it in Aych-Dee...in a couple months.

the ending was perfect.

They do get repetitive. I usually spend the last couple hours of the game in front of gamefaqs so I can speed through and finish the story.

I played some CoD4 online tonight, but couldn't play for long because I have problems getting headaches after playing FPS too long (and I wasn't feeling all too great tonight), and I will probably go to bed shortly.

A friend of mine wants to buy the majority of my games, so that will help me a lot.

I really don't understand Gordon Freeman as a character, his appeal. I do enjoy the Half Life and Halo stories. I realize they're not groundbreaking, top notch fiction, but they're interesting enough to me to not fall asleep when the cutscenes get rolling. (or when I'm locked in a room and people are talking, in Half Life's case) I do think that Alyx and her Father are some of the best characters in any game, ever, but that's just me, I guess.

I just don't understand the hate. Nobody really plays Half Life or Halo for the story. I play Half Life for the clever puzzles and physics, I play Halo for the dynamic, sandbox gameplay and multiplayer. The stories are just a little bonus to that in both games.

Burnout Legends for the PSP ain't 1/2 bad.

The FPS story line thing is funny. Calling most of them deep and complex is a bit of an overstatement, but so is saying "THEY ALL SUCK AND ARE HORRIBLE." Most of the time they're just meant to be silly and fun and give an excuse for carnage. If you're looking for deep social commentary, you're sort of missing the point.

God of War, bewbies, psp......fap fap fap...wait what?

The game starts out just like the demo. Bewbs are great. You can see the nipples even on the tiny screen. Oh yeah, the gameplay is....BEWBZ! ;)

I don't expect a divine revelation... I just don't know why some people insist that Halo's story is this deep, rich experience, because it's not.

I don't know about that.

I was always a fan of Scorched Earth, as far as shooter-stories are concerned

It's on the PC so it's automatically SO cash.
