Interesting... Only Amazon and Gamestop have MGS HD LE for pre-order, it's not available anywhere else... Newegg usually carry the LEs and CEs, but not this one :whistle2:( (I prefer Newegg because I get stuff from them faster than Amazon, I don't have Prime). I guess I'll lock in the pre-order with Amazon and use the $20 Newegg coupon on the regular edition (not sure we'll see any discounts for the regular edition like GoW Origin and ICO/SotC).

Edit, the price still stings, it's the same as the Kindle :whistle2:( On top of the injury, I pre-ordered the Zavvi exclusive LE too, which is like $100... OUCH!

fuckers are just milking it now...

Being a fan of Tekken, I saw the POS movie, preordered the $40 bundle... Then they announced a CE a few months later... Now another fucking CE. I'm probably going to cancel my initial preorder and just say fuck it.

Here's the stick details:

Namco Fightstick by Mad Catz Specs:

Each fight stick is individually numbered for authenticity

Authentic Japanese-style Sanwa Denshi joystick & buttons

Sleek “S” design FightStick casing

8-button layout with additional multi-speed Turbo functionality

Premium-quality components with genuine arcade layout

Controller lock/unlock switch prevents accidental button presses

13 FT USB Cable with internal cable storage

Connect to console via lag free USB

Storage compartment for efficient cable management

3-way switch enables joystick to function as left or right analog stick or D-Pad

Works with all PlayStation 3 models
So the stick is basically $190. Gonna have to pass on that. It looks super generic and it's about $80 more than I paid for my SFIV TE sticks.
Yeah the pricing is really off on that for a black coat of paint. At least throw some yellow buttons and balltop in there to mimic the Namco Sticks of the past.
Given their recent track record, I won't be surprised that Namco would fuck this CE/LE/Extreme up too.
I doubt it, it's 250... I wish it's a free upgrade :p

Ah, i didnt realize it was the same stick as the SF TE. Well, if it hits that 150$ mark i'll be sure to get in on it.

Either way, agreed that it was a pretty bad effort on a cash grab

Though $250 seems a bit much, I'd pre-order in a heartbeat if I knew this package came in a special box signifying it was the Extreme edition. I only ordered the GoW 3 lancer edition from Gamestop because I thought it would come together with the epic edition in some fancy box and was quite disappointed to learn it was just a lancer and EE packaged separately! Nothing special to me about it being "named" the Extreme edition if all they're going to do is give me a limited edition copy and a controller in their own normal, respective packaging.

They won't, this is a major franchise for Namco and not a new franchise to them like Dark Souls.
I am a huge MGS fan, and would have ordered the MGS Collection LE in a heartbeat, but the regular game is $50, not the regular $60 for a "new" game. First off, the collection itself is $10 above what other PS2 collections have been ($40), so it feels that Konami is already overcharging, but I'll bite the bullet since it has a PSP transfer on consoles and its Metal Gear. But now comes the LE and its $80 price, and thats a problem for me IMO.

So I ask myself, WHY charge that much?

The 'Limited Edition' will include a never before released 250 page premium art book showcasing the art of Metal Gear Solid. Good stuff right? But this LE is now $30 above the already regular edition which is at $50. Most LEs would include more than a book (even a huge 250 page book) to charge $20 more, let alone $30 more. I know the book alone would cost about the same or higher if sold separately, but once its included as part of a game package, there should be a sort of saving to the costumers. I'm probably just ranting here, I want the LE, but to spend $80 for a HD collection of games I've played before and only an art book, I'll keep my Amazon $49.99 with gold box discount order.

Forgive my rant, just seems unfair they raise the price on what has been standard $40 MSRP for HD collections and now they price the LE as if it where a new game's LE with a ton of extra stuff, which it doesn't have in my eyes.
+1

I'm a little late on this but just wanted to chime in that I totally agree 100% with this post. Great post. Very objective point about CE's. This is actually refreshing to read when everybody on here has been complaining about trade in deals, Best Buy, or even both . Thanks bud.
Anyone know where can I find Forza 4 LE for pre-order online? No one has it...:/ I think I waited too long.
I almost cancelled. Was going to reorder with my gears credit then I noticed Amazon is oos. Glad I.caught it! Not.happy about amazon not letting you apply credits to open pre orders anymore though.

I really want that Forza CE, but I can't afford it around everything else I'm buying, so I'm hoping I can find it cheaper down the line (Black Friday?). What do you think the chances of finding this later for cheaper is?

Last month I picked up a Gears 3 Epic Edition (my first new Collector's Edition, second CE total). I have Batman paid off, and Mass Effect 3 pre-ordered. (Now I just have to beast Mass Effect 2).

Seems like a loot oof people like forza.. You guys should try f1 2011. Extremely addictive. But its hard.. Oh boy its hard. The game is best played with a wheel though. You should be able to score ann xbox wheel official for $40 via craigslist

curious for some other CAG opinions on this...

I was one of the lucky people to snag the Arkham City CE for $60 on Amazon a while back, but the CE stuff isnt incredibly overwhelming for me so I'm debating just getting rid of it and holding out for a Black Friday deal on the standard edition or jumping on that Kmart deal. Any thoughts on whether this is incredibly dumb or not?

See if you can pass it on. I know that some people may want it for $60, but not $100, so maybe you can help somebody out. Just saying...

Try passing it on, or, you know, you are getting it at no extra charge so if you want the game, now you get it with free goodies.

Considering:
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection: Limited Edition $80
The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword Bundle $70
Assassin's Creed: Revelation Signature Edition $60
Red Dead Redemption Game of the Year Edition $50
Fate Extra Limited Edition $40

Preordered:
Otomedius Excellent: Limited Edition $50

If only I had the money... :(
Just caved on pre-ordering MGS HD Collection LE. It was in my Gold Box for $75.
Did the price go down to $75 today temporarily?

I think he meant $75.99 in gold box. The PS3 version was in my gold box last week and I quickly put in an order to lock in the price.

I really want the Zelda steelbook because I love the Zelda games. This one looks great!

I'd love to get Xenoblade, but I don't want to mod my Wii....
OK, I don't give a fuck about the game but I want that bank.
Same :D

I'm counting on Capcom, being the greedy bastards they are to sell it separately on their site.

Well I'm hoping they only charge $80 (I can dream!) so I can just flip the game and get the goodies on the cheap.

There are two booklets. The booklet I mentioned in the description is a "15 page visual works art book". It comes with all LE's no matter where you buy it from. GS has an additional booklet titled "Fate/The Facts" which is 20 pages long, which I appropriately did not mention (I only list what's included with all CE's not any retailer specific pre-order bonuses)

You can read more here: http://www.aksysgames.com/2011/09/12/fateextra-limited-edition/

And folks, if there's any info in the main post that you think is wrong, or needs updating please feel free to edit the details. Thanks!
