Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread
Snowblind is much better. Four maps plus the maps them selves are just better designed.
Ok Thanks, snowblind it is,
i also just finished watching trailers on youtube to see what both looked like and the snow areas looked like a lot of fun

For anyone planning on reaching Level 100, I found out from zoo last night that it takes 6,600,000 experience. It will take years to get there, most likely longer than it took you to get Seriously from Gears 1. I average 1000-1500 experience per game and I'm only at ~130,000. Crazy.
 isn't the #1 guy level 100?
There's a glitch to get to level 100.

Any level 100s you see have done it and Epic knows they have done it. According to the guy at Epic who writes the netcode, they are sending their names into MS. People who have done the glitch are having their gamerscore (that's every achievement you've got) to ZERO.

can they really do that? i really doubt MS would do something like that. i say they might get banned for a few days at most. :whistle2:k

Indeed they can, and they have before...

I like everything outside of the fact Shotgun seems the only way to go when your up close, except maybe that occasional Chainsaw. With that said it's getting closer and closer to Gears 1 online wise in terms of playability. I had games start pretty quick to boot.

Got my first "extermination" in Gears 2 on Courtyard Submission tonight. Entire team was surrounding the flag, my teammate threw a smoke, i lobbed a frag right into the middle of em. :)

Btw, does anyone know what difficulty the bots are set as? Seems like they are useless most of the time, but especially for objective games.

They are set to insane. They are useless when it comes to teamwork and objectives. However, they will pop heads with ease and quickly switch to shotty and gib you on spot.

I encountered a level 100 today. had to have glitched or whatever to reach it. guy had 200 something gamerscore and stats were bad (played a few hundred rounds of execution in total). also 2 of the guys on his team (it was 4v4) were on his friend's list so I assume they also glitch. Both had a rank of 30-40 and gamerscore under 1000. They both also had ridiculously high k/d (2.3-2.4)

since TU3, I feel the match making is faster than it was prior to TU2 but much slower than it was before TU3. I haven't ran into any standbyers but have been lagswitched several times (pass few days a lot more than normal). Also it seems that the switchers are in a party so it is worse.

EPIC really needs to do something else instead of simply -1500 esp towards rank or 0 exp at end of match.

It was down to 2 on 4 and I saw my teammate downed where the torquebow is found with three enemies standing around him. Apparently, they were arguing about who's down it was and who should get the kill. In order to try and get them away from my teammate and try to confuse and kill, I threw a grenade from the stairs area, took cover behind a building and started looking around for the fourth enemy when all of a sudden the match ended and I was like who killed me? Everyone was stunned and thought it was funny, of course it was total luck.
Btw, does anyone know what difficulty the bots are set as? Seems like they are useless most of the time, but especially for objective games.
You can learn to leverage the bots. They have insane accuracy, they just have minds of their own. So, for example, when they are charging into an annex circle, follow them. They will do serious damage before getting blown away. If you can take attention off them they will kill.

I've gotten four with one grenade in a Gears 2 Annex match, in Stasis I was on the upper center ledge and tossed a frag down on the other team who is huddled in their annex zone by a pistol. EPIC.

I'm still looking for some help on the 1-50 horde on snowblind. If anyone even has the new DLC add me anyway. It should make match making quicker.

I will add you Doodle. I have been playing Horde the last few nights and have only been on the new maps once - it would be fun to try them out.

Doodle I've seen you online every now and again. I'll send you a game invite next time I/we play. A friend and I got up to 40 the other night. We could finish it the next time we play. But, I can help out if you like.

cool. i'll be on in an hour. i got some guys from xbox360 achievement.org to join in. i'm starting at 31 on grindyard. i'm willing to go back a little if you guys need it.

by the way i really like the new maps more than the last map pack. I only wish they didnt change courtyard. It was much better the old way.(they changed the area under the raised area)

Bit on the Snowblind pack last night...so glad I did. Absolutely love the new maps, very well balanced.

The Combustible pack that I bought a long while ago, I totally regret...I haven't had a decent match in those, and it's hard to find matches in that playlist. Total waste of 800pts :whistle2:(

Beat Horde 50 last night, or actually this morning, so anyone who wants help can add me and if you see me playing throw me an invite. Just tell me you're from CAG.

After I get the achievements for the Snowblind map packs, I do no think that I will ever play those maps again. I do not like them as much as the main maps. Also, what was Epic thinking putting a Mortar where the Hammer is in Fuel Depot? That is the dumbest placement of a Mortar ever....Did not realize one was there until my friend complained about it. Mortar should be at the Helicoptor pad or just leave it as the Hammer all the time, it does not work in its current placement.

ouch. I for some reason fired up Gears 2 again to farm game rounds (about 1450 to go until 1999) and I was surprised that the rank is retroactive and that I'm at a 1. Or maybe everyone starts at one, I don't know. I still want to beat Campaign on Insane sometime, though.

I believe once the update came out it is a whole new xp system.

Anyway just got Gears a few days ago so add me up on xbox live. Would be nice to have a nice 5 man team for horde or just matches on live instead of pick up groups. Just played a round on Manson on Annex, and the other team was just lagging hard.

Campaign on insane is way harder than the first Gears on insane. I could beat it,but I have a feeling it would take a long time. I like the new system although I'm only at level 8. I haven't played it much.

I know it's harder. I'm stuck at 3-6 or 3-7 on Insane because I can't find anyone to help me, even if they ran through it at a lower difficulty. The other party going through it at a lower difficulty would be a much nicer solution, though.

I was also thinking about organizing a CAG Flashback Horde night where we get 5 people to do Waves 1-10 on all the Flashback maps for the achievement.

I did that back when it was released. I just played with some random kids who where playing on easy and I sat back while they did mostly everything. After I did it, I was nice and played on easy for someone else (random)

I'm a 15 and I doubt I'm going any higher, don't really like this game anymore. It's way too slow and too connection dependent.

I caved and got snowblind. if anyone wants to put together a cag group for the horde achievements for snowblind maps I'm in. I can also help with flashback (I got them all the horde achievements though) but not Combustible (don't have the maps).

I caved too, since I still had some points (from the free 1600 points with GH2 from CC 2 years ago, lol). So far they are okay, never got Combustible because it looked like a joke. Horde might be fun, but normally do that solo or with my buddy.

I love how you get experience even if you lose. I had a great warzone game last night (2300 points) and recieved all the points I earned, despite losing.

Yeah experience is based on what you do...not only if you win. I've noticed that if you lose sometimes it deducts a little bit from your score.

Also, I'm baffled as to how the point system works. There are times that I have the most kills and someone with less kills/downs/saves than me will have a higher score. Is there a chart somewhere that identifies how scoring works that anyone here knows of?

You get points for hitting someone with fire. It's cool because if you put down alot of suppressive fire (but don't get kills and downs) you'll still get points.

Also, you get less points for a kill that you didn't down than the person that got the down.

That would explain why I'm now getting much better scores than I use to. I almost never finish anyone off because I hate the coin-toss close range firefights. But I do down people a ton.
I started using the hamburger over the lancer and I like it a lot more.
I switch between those every few matches. I'm still undecided. The Lancer stinks at long range but the close range chainsaws are almost always a win against anything else, which is cheap, but effective.
