Official Gears of War 2 Discussion Thread

If anyone is still grinding for those Combustible & Snowblind Horde achievements let me know so we can squad up. If having a team weren't a requirement I would have banged them out last month. I hate playing with randoms.

I know what you mean. Sometimes its just enough lag to make shotguns useless, so i use chainsaws a lot when this happens. Then there is a lot of lag where you are constantly moving around when you stop walking, and you shoot and your ammo doesnt deplete. But a couple times i got lag so bad that when i respawned i was still seeing the corner of the map view, but could see my crosshairs, could shoot, and other stuff. But i couldnt see my self, just the stupid map view they give you once you die.

Jeese, lag has been horrendous lately though.

um... having a team is NOT required. I did the whole thing solo. Try doing one wave solo and see if the progress window pops up because I might be mistaken.

Oh, and another thing. I heard that people that glitched their accounts to reach lv.100 got their gamerscore reset, but every time I come across a lv.100 I check their achievements and its still there. Was Major Nelson just trying to scare people to not do the glitch? Or perhaps Microsoft will not know a person glitched unless someone files a complaint for glitching?

Having a team is not REQUIRED, but it makes it a whole lot easier, especially on the higher levels.

I was wondering the same thing about the gamerscore. I never see anyone between levels 50 and 99, but I see plenty of guys with the elite symbol for level 100. Gotta assume those guys glitched, but they don't seem to be getting reset. Maybe it was a scare.

My GT is AiNoGeist but I made sure to plaster my CAG username in the bio to avoid confusion. Now that I've been corrected about the achievement requirements I'd still like to go through with the team up to speed up the process. Horde honestly bores the hell out of me.
 
I was playing some just recently. It looks like when those little pop ups happen after a match is over, it actually shows double the EXP. But when you go to the game stats the double EXP isnt added yet.
 
Tried the game out for the first time in a huge while and results were mixed. I usually play by myself since I operate at odd hours and it still takes forever to find a game which I was really shocked by. I wonder if the game will ever run at a speed with which we are used to or if it is simply the way the game is made?
 
To the people who are saying it takes forever to find a match, are you sure your router is configured correctly?

In the beginning, it did take a while to get into a game if you were by yourself (or even with one other person). However, when I play by myself now, it takes

I managed to rank up from a 25 to a 26 in a relatively short time playing Annex last night. Matchmaking was probably the fastest it has ever been. The highlight of my evening was when a 41 woudln't stop whining..."these guys suck all they do is run around together and team up on me." I guess that explains his four kills while playing freaking Annex.
 
Is anyone else having problems uploading photos? I uploaded a few last night and they didnt show up, and just did it now again and still nothing. Ive done this before, i dunno why it wont add my photos.
 
Aww WTF first game i played on double XP weekend was Annex. I had at least 4,000 points and the game was about over and i lost connection with the host. Do i still get the points or not?

EDIT: WOW 2 lost connections in the last 3-4 games. Unbelievable.

It was fun except for that one game that lagged like crazy, and that other game where I got insulted by a guy because I wasn't playing up to his standard. I did better every other game,but that one, and that is when someone runs there mouth. xD
 
I leveled up from 31 to 34 so far during this weekend so far.

Im just curious, not that i want to do it, but how do people glitch to get their rank to 100 so fast?
 
You have to have a level 100 profile on your system. Either real (or more likely) downloaded from the internet.

Start up Gears signed into the level 100 profile, go to training grounds, start it, immediately hit the guide button, sign out, sign in with the profile you want to glitch.

That's it.

anyone want to be level 100? a friend let me use his account for a while and i glitched a silver account i made. i will be more than happy to let you guys upload that profile to glitch your own profile.
 
Epic is still planning on deleting the gamer score and achievements of any glitcher that hasn't glitched back so I'd be careful if I were you guys. Anyway if anyone is still going for those Combustible & Snowblind Horde achievements then let me know. The only reason I couldn't make it last time is because I promised a formally banned friend I'd play with him after it was lifted. I'll be on after work which is around 11:30 - 12:00 PM for those interested.

EDIT - I feel like absolute shit so I decide to call off work. Any time between now and 3:00am is cool with me.

This same thing is occuring for me. I wish they would allow me to just stay in the same room with the maps rotating...
 
I hate lag. I am currently in a game that has a 3 second lag from when i shoot a shotgun to when it appears on the wall. FUN!

Ha i was playing possum. I was just standing where i spawned and some enemy was going to walk up to be and shotgun me but i chainsawed him right before he got me. LOL
 
I played Warzone a few mins ago, and got the most points I've ever got,but when it was over it said 0 points where it adds them. I'm annoyed to say the least. It should have been around 3200,but I got nothing. =/

Wow, what a total failure system. I swear, if Gears 3 has this awful matchmaking and goofy stuff like all the glitches this one had at launch I think I'll be passing.

I agree with you. First all the glitches, and matchmaking being slow. Now I actually do better, and it assumes I'm cheating. Yet people play cheap, and get away with it,but when jman is doing good it assumes he is cheating. I thought of something. There was two rounds where a guy wasn't playing, and I killed him. Would it have done that because of that? xD
 
No. It's based off your connection. If you have host and everyone else has a really shitty connection it assumes you're standbying.

That's the first time its ever done it. I guess I'll just try it again later. I've lost connection to the host a couple of times,but it hasn't happened lately. After that match I played today my 360 said the disc was unreadable. It does that from time to time. It was a refurbished system from ms.
 
Gears 3 has to go back to a server based system. Gears 1 had problems, but you could play for so much longer without getting frustrated.

I agree the first one is set up better overall. At least they fixed most of the glitches on Gears 2, and the matchmaking doesn't take as long as it use to did.
 
Yeah I pretty much bought gears 2 as a day one purchase and regretted it pretty quickly after that. Tag on to that xbox live gold price and it just left me feeling like I can skip gears 3.

If Gears 2 didn't have a matchmaking system everyone would complain.

Since it does have a matchmaking system, everyone complains there aren't server lists.

Get a grip.

I felt the same way. I just recently started playing online again. I thought the campaign was good,but not retail price good.

I would rather it be setup like the first one. At least I could constantly play without waiting about 5 minutes between matches.
