*Official* NBA PLAYOFFS 2007 discussion

Crap, game 4 of the Wiz/Cavs is on NBATV (game 2 was as well.) I'd watch it if it was on a channel I actually get, but I don't care enough to head to a sports bar.
The Warriors aren't even playing that well, I mean Baron Davis is ridiculous amounts of good, but they're hitting tons of lucky shots. The Mavericks are just playing so awful that any team would look good playing them. Dirk is pissing me off so much. I guess I'll cheer for the Suns, I've been partial to Steve Nash ever since he was a Mav.
When an 8 seed is up 3-1 on a 1 seed you can't say that team is not even playing well. They are playing the best basketball they have played all year.
Phoenix-Golden State would be pretty damn interesting.
It would be like a live action version of NBA Jam.
Has a 1 seed ever lost to a 8 seed?

I can't remember that ever happening before...
Yes. The Sonics who were the number 1 seed in 1994 (and won 63 games that season) lost to Denver, the number 8 seed. This was when the format was a 5 game series in the first round. However no 8th seed has ever beat a 1st seed in the recent 7 game format.

Thanks, I hope GS can finish the series off, they need to as quickly as they can.

I was just reminded of this when I had SportsCenter (yes, that abortion of a show) on in the background..
The same thing happened four years ago with the East in the first round: The Magic had my beloved Pistons on the ropes after taking a 3-1 series lead by continually outplaying the underperforming Pistons.
Yet the Pistons were still able to turn it on and win in seven games.
So I don't think this series is over quite yet, but it's close. While a number 8 seed has beaten a number 1 seed before, a number 1 seed has also won three games in a row to take a series from behind.

Cuban has to be going apeshit right about now, and if the mavs lose the series who knows what summer tradnsactions he's gonna pull.

Vince and Rashard Lewis are FA this summer, i doubt if they stay where there at , if the price is right.

Yeah, especially with the Don Nelson, Steve Nash connection. He should know how to play against Nash as much as he does Nowitzki.

I think Dirk is still the MVP, though. He is being bamboozled by his former coach. Nelson knows his weaknesses better than anyone and he is really exploiting them (constant double teams, forcing him to dribble to his right, and making him play defense). Nowitzki is a great player and the best of the regular season, but he isn't a gamebreaker. He has never seemed like the guy who wanted the ball and would take over a game. His regular season numbers are all there though, and his team won so many games he'll probably get the MVP.

The difference there was the Pistons hadn't got blown out in any of those games, and I don't think Orlando just had Detroit's number like Golden State does Dallas.

I think Detroit just had to figure out how to stop T-Mac, and they got all the motivation they needed after game 4, when McGrady said something like this:

"It feels so good to finally get out of the first round."

Unfortunatley, T-Mac was unaware the NBA had changed the 1st round to a best of 7 that year, and he has yet to reach the 2nd round of the play-offs:lol:

Truth be told, Dallas only has to do what Detroit did as a #1 seed, defend their home court and win one game on the road. I'm hoping they don't though.

Warriors, come out to playyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Like I said before Dirk isn't a MVP-type player, he had a wide open shot, passed to Bucker, Buckner misses. Wade was right, Dirk doesn't show up in the playoffs.

Hopefully, my Warriors can finish this series in Dallas.

What did you guys think of the Lakers fans chanting "MVP! MVP!" for Kobe?

Of course, I'd want Nash to be MVP, but I'd be fine if Dirk won it as well.

He'll show up for at least a game longer than Miss Wade did this year. Wade's such a little bitch, I hope he spends the rest of his career suffering in Miami, dreaming of winning another title that he'll never get without the help of Shaq and all the officials.

I do hope Golden State finishes Dallas off in game 5 though, because that'd just be too damn funny.

almost forgot...

Bye Washington.

The odd thing is, the Wizards had chances to win 3 of those 4 games, and just didn't have anyone to make that final push for them. Had Arenas been healthy, Washington wouldn't have been down this far in the first place, and probably would've beat the Cavs in the second round.

Furthermore, could we get Drew Goodan to wear a paper bag over his head for the rest of his career, he's hurting my eyes... a lot.

Jersey looking to close the series out tonight. I hope they do. Don't want the series to go deeper. Nets have a chance to go to the Eastern Conference Finals. After that series against the Wizards the Cavs looked weak.
He is such a great player and I even though I am not much of a Spurs fan, I do respect most of the team as individuals off the court.
I truly hope the Spurs reach game 7 of the NBA finals, are down by 2, Robert Horry has the shot to win the game, and misses it. I can think of no more fitting end to his career. Think of all the countless fans of teams he cost an NBA title that would cheer that. I know I would, if it wasn't for Horry, the Pistons would've been back-to-back champions in 2005.

Had to smile at Vince Carter's swagger after he shot that 3 ball. He was like, "WHAT." A shame the Nets have no more timeouts left, would have made the game more exciting with the possibilities.

Yeah also a shame that they gave it to Nachbar at the end.

The Mavs/Warriors game is out of hand.
Before the second quarter is over.
I've watched a few minutes of it, and it looks like the Mavs are getting the benefit of the refs whistle so far...
*EDIT* I take that back, Dirk just picked up his third foul on a somewhat sketchy looking charging call.

Let's see if the halftime break treats the Mavs well.

Stackhouse with the T I believe, cmon W's let's do this....

Oh yeah, fuck Chuck. That's the chant that's going on in the Sco'

I wish this game was at Golden state. That croud was intense the other day. Dallas has some shitty fans, then again maybe you could hear a pin drop simply because they are about to lose 4-1 to the 8 seed as the undisputed #1 team in the league.

This is unbelievable, why the hell didn't the Mavericks play like this the rest of the series. These last couple minutes have been the best I've seen them play.

Those last 2 possessions by GS was just TERRIBLE execution. I'm surprised Don Nelson hasn't called another timeout to regroup. Looks like the Mavs are doing whatever they can to keep Baron from handling the ball forcing Richardson or Jackson to coordinate the offense (which obviously isn't working judging by the last 2 possessions).

how many bad shots will they take...oh and now davis fouled out...collapse is an understatement. although it was all mavs early.
Total collapse. 2 bad threes in a row, couldn't even rebound the ball from the FT line, and now an airball...
The two bad threes especially, man those were dumb.

Wow, Golden State really pissed that lead away. Up 9 with 2 minutes left! They need to keep their heads up though, the next game is in Oakland, they came back from 21 down and had a legit chance to take the Mavs out at home. They can still pull this off.

Wow the Warriors threw that one away. If the Mavs can pull off a win at GS it will be really hard for the Warriors to win Game 7. And Dirk finally showing why he is an MVP candidate in those last 2 minutes.

This series is reminding me of the Rockets/ Mavs series from a few years back. I think Dallas is still going to pull this out. I would be pretty pissed off if they don't considering the regular season.

Dirk needs to turn into the Dirk of the PHX series last year and show why he is the man.

That was one of the most frustrating series ever. The first few games, McGrady couldn't miss a shot anywhere on the floor. He was literally shooting three pointers six to 10 feet away from the three-point line and was hitting nothing but net. But he began to cool off, and Dallas was able to take it away.

I would LOVE for Dallas to pull it out, but I just don't have the faith that they can go into Golden State and win.
