I've been seeing a lot of mixed reviews on No Man's Sky. It seems like it's really well done, but suffers from the same thing as basically every other survival game of having no direction or purpose. It's so weird because this is an issue that even Minecraft had...but nobody seemed to care then. But seriously, every open-ended procedural game after Minecraft is deemed "boring".
I know for me, in my old age, I'm starting to like linear games more. Just give me a story, give me objectives, and let me play through it (probably why I enjoyed Quantum Break, Mirror's Edge, etc). But an open world where you have to learn the entire eco-system and figure out what to do, that just seems like a lot of work, lol.
