I see Green Lantern dude alla damned time at Philly wrestling shows. I have simultaneous contempt and pity for the dude. Pity for owning so many Green Lantern shirts, pity for having so little in life that being *recognized* as a wrestling superfan is clearly a way to overcome his insecurities elsewhere in life, pity because he's clearly lacking some meaning in his existence. Contempt because he's always been rude as fuck to staff; I can't count the # of times I've seen him act a shithead to whatever underpaid staff are working events at the ECW Arena. I've always thought that how you treat hourly-wage service staff is truly a testament to your personal character, and this guy clearly relishes in winning these faux micro-aggressive acts of power.
It all started on that RAW when he proposed to his girlfriend.

I don't know if they update it but this was his douchebag rap sheet at one point

Edited to delete.

Guy does truly appear to live a wholly depressing existence. I'm not gonna pile on him anymore. Apologies, y'all.

Hey, you guys want to laugh at a goofy-looking wrestling fan, eh? I found this picture last week and decided to post it today on Facebook for Throwback Thursday.

This was taken in my bedroom sometime in late 2002-early 2003. I was 18 years old at the time. Yeah, I had tie-dyed looking walls and track lighting! And a couch in my room... that appears to have a random 1980s Transformers blanket on it.

My room was 6 sided like a TNA ring. That wall had mostly wrestling stuff on it, obviously. Not sure why I was doing the Hardyz hand sign since I always preferred E & C. Gotta love the old school New Midwest Wrestling shirt!

Is that the guy with the "Tie Dye Guy" sign? Or the more modern incarnation, who looks like if Hulk Hogan abandoned all hope in life around age 17, but still somehow managed to live the gimmick?

i.e., the dude in the front row who makes this segment go from amazing to *magical*?

That's him, the Hulk Hogan jr. I met him at Uncensored 98 ppv ringside and he was going to Monday Nitro the next night in Panama City Beach. Back then he had the sleeveless shirt and would wear a Hogan style weightlifter belt lol.

Good for you for being able to look back and laugh at your younger self haha

Sports jacket guy actually lives in the town over from me in Indiana. Dude also has WWE blinds to go along with his airbrushed sport jacket. I also see Brock Lesnar Guy around a lot as well, I believe he is from Chicago. His default Affliction shirt cracks me up, it's like he owns 40 of those shirts.
The "Hulk Hogan twin" guy that was frequently seen during WWF PPVs during the 80s-mid 90s (my favorite is his hilarious dejected look after Undertaker pinned Hogan at Survivor Series 91) worked security at Detroit indie shows and went by the name "Roddy Hogan." I don't see him around anymore, but then again I go to just about one wrestling show every 2 years (independent or otherwise), so that may have something to do with it.

...I'll have to try to find the picture of me as Demolition Smash for Halloween in 5th grade. Or Crush in 6th grade. Not sure what I had against Ax.

I totally agree. But who the hell is that frank "the WWE clown" Loser she is always with? Is he one of those Crazy super Fans Like The Brock Lesnar guy and White Sport jacket Loser?
Dude, let him just enjoy it. There's next to no chance she is going to stick with him as her "fame" increases (especially if she continues trying to be a wrestler) and he remains a rasslin' superfan in face paint. Hope he likes it while it lasts.

Bobby Lashley won his Bellator fight tonight, and Road Warrior Animal walked with Ken Shamrock to the cage right before Kimbo Slice knocked his ass out

I still think Shamrock could have one last WWE run.

Via 411mania.com:

– Wrestlezone reports that Dolph Ziggler’s WWE contract is set to expire in a few months, and former WWE writer Court Bauer believes that Ziggler could leave, similar to Johnny Mundo, formerly John Morrison in the WWE. Speaking on MLW Radio, Bauer stated, “Dolph’s deal is up in a few months and he has indicated informally that unless he gets a big push, he may leave like Mundo.

Noble got stretchered out and given oxygen during that last segment.  Given his injury history, that's very concerning.

Buddy Landel passed away, it seems. :(
Only 53, wow. Allegedly, he was in a car wreck and had undiagnosed injuries. Plenty of information still unsubstantiated though. He had a very interesting podcast with Colt Cabana about 4 months ago. If you ever enjoyed his work I'd recommend it.

I hope Noble's okay, that sounds concerning. EDIT: Three broken ribs. Holy hell that sounds extremely painful, and the recovery on that takes forever. Every breath is sharp and painful, that sucks to hear (but glad it isn't worse).

Art of Wrestling with Justin Gabriel/PJ Black was extremely good - not just if you're into wrestling, but the guy's personal life is fascinating and horrifying at the same time.

Lastly, I'm kind of at a point in my wrestling fandom where I don't care enough to complain about stuff to the extent I used to, but I can't get over how The Ascension are still employed. I want them to work (I'm a fan of the Road Warriors/Demolition/Powers of Pain style of aesthetics), but they've had zero good matches since arriving. I also rarely pay enough attention to a show to identify a botch (or whatever you want to call it) as it happens - but one of those dudes (still unsure who is Viktor and who is Connor) audibly and visually said "chop me chop me chop me" on two occasions to Titus O'Neil during the match last night. Miss a move? Fine. But that's some fourth-wall breaking stuff that, as a trained wrestler, you should be above doing if you're at the level they are. Indy show? Sure. Developmental? Yep. WWE Raw? Nope.

just wondering is  HBK coming back.  Went to a house show   sunday and they ran a clip for almost or 6 mins of  HBK music and  different people clips   who keep saying im not your boy toy and at the end   HBK logo comes up.

Wow, I never thought that I would say this, but the Miz is really entertaining right now. Maybe the should let him be himself on WWE TV I stead of making him try to play wrestling guy.

I went to Raw on Monday and while not the best show ever, or even recently it was still a lot of fun live. Indy is always kind of a lame crowd when it comes to chants, but it was a fun show and glad I was able to see Owens and Nevile wrestle again after seeing them a few months back at the NXT show I went to. Smackdown is comming to Indy in Novemember and I am thinking about getting tickets, but not sure as Smackdown isn't usually nearly as much fun live.

Huge news apparently coming out of the Live Impact tonight. From some pictures I have seen TNA seems to have a ladder set up in the ring already and they seem to have added some padding around ringside and the entrance ramp and trons look updated as well. Rumors are everywhere, but some think Jeff Jarrett has bought out TNA Wrestling and the other popular rumor seems to be the obvious ROH vs. TNA angle, which sounds cool, but I don't see that being what this news is. I'll unfortunately miss out on watching Impact tonight, but will definitely be keeping an eye out on what this announcement is. Let's hope they don't announce something lame like the return of Tito Ortiz or for you long time TNA fans from the NWA days, the return of Miss. TNA.

I really hope we get some truly unexpected and game changing for TNA. Something like Shane McMahon buying the company and becoming the authority figure on the air as well, would be about the biggest thing I could imagine, but Jeff Jarrett buying the company and merging it into GFW would be my guess and the only way that news would be huge is if he absorbed both TNA and ROH into GFW and then GFW becomes a 3 hour show on Wednesday nights.

What a crazy newsworthy day for TNA. Sadly, it didn't result in much build for the PPV. Jeff's return was both surprising in nature, but unspririsng given the GFW/TNA mergery rumors that have been going on for the last couple days. Heels vs. Wolves was really good, but nothing amazing. Ditto everything else. Uno won the green X Title...good for him. There wasn't much to the Angle-Hardy match, and Jeff Jarrett's in a king of the mountain match for some sort of goal to close out his TNA career.

ROH RULED!

ROH was an unbelievably fun show. I loved the opener and the main event so very much. Nothing here was a classic, but it was all very rewatchable and a riot. The Young Bucks are to the new 10s what the Midnights were for the '80s. They're one of the best teams of all time and easily the best of their generation.

Maybe I was hoping for too much with Jarret getting in the ring and calling Dixie Carter "slap nuts" and hitting her with a guitar...

So... We have a company that's barely a company merging with a company that's barely in business? Who benefits here? Seriously.

Lucha Underground is great. If Dolph does leave WWE, I hope he visits LU and NJPW. He would be a god in Japan.

Maybe he could be...REEEEAAAAALLL!!!!!

Slap nuts. I can't even believe that was ever a thing. Did it get over at all in WCW, or did they just pretend it did?
It's one of the few things I can remember or think of when I hear the name Jeff Jarret. So...I guess it did?

And I wish Eva Marie's gimmick was that she's a robot trying to pretend to be human, but doing a bad job and everyone knows she's a robot.

Jeff Jarrett still owns 29% of TNA and GFW hasn't had a show yet (as far as I know). The whole thing is kind of odd, but I wish him all the best. Maybe he can find someone who has beer money this time around.

For the life of me, I can't understand why TNA would book something as big as they did for a TV taping that is being shot before a PPV, but the show isn't supposed to air until the week after the PPV.

EC3 beat Angle for the title.

I don't think TNA is merging with GFW. They are just going to let talents work the GFW shows.
Probably not, but TNA becoming part of GFW is an interesting prospect and something that is very much a possibility. I've always thought that TNA needed to be rebranded in order to be successful. TNA just doesn't say wrestling and the name of the company has always been bad Total Non-stop Action is a lame name and it was obviously originally intended to be edgy with the way TNA was originally presented under the NWA umbrella with stuff like S.E.X. and the TNA cage dancers on the stage at every show in the old Asylum days. I think TNA merging with GFW and taking on the GFW name is a good move, but only time will tell if this happens.

It got over enough for 15 year old me to go to Thunder, bring my acoustic guitar into the arena, buy a Slap Nuts shirt, cosplay Jeff Jarrett for 2 hours facing the hard camera, and still own the shirt 15 years later. That was Jeff Jarrett at his finest.

I also got splashed when Kevin Nash received a bloodbath. The episode was on YouTube until the account was deleted. It aired May 10, 2000. I don't have any pictures, but I was clearly visible throughout the broadcast. Hopefully I can find something.

Looks like Magnus & James Storm asked for their release in TNA and got it. Both of them will finish up at Slammiversary, with Magnus already going to GFW. Austin Aries' contract also expires the same day as the event. So they'll be short 3 more talents after that PPV.

GFW hasn't had a show yet (as far as I know).
They've had house shows in the past few weeks, just no tv tapings.

GFW and TNA are going to do an Invasion angle, for those who can't see it coming.

Yup. Invasion angles and the evil boss storylines need to die off for a good decade or so. Just because they worked once or twice doesnt mean they have to do it ALL the time.
If ROH is thrown into the equation, we could have the best wrestling angle of all time.

That would suck because I dont have Destination USA :( The one way this could work out well is if they did the invasion angle with GFW and when it came down to the Winner Takes All stipulation have GFW WIN. Dissolve TNA into GFW and start fresh. I dont know if TNA would be allowed to do so with all their tv deals and what not but that would be a good way to do it.

There's something to Destination America having a deal with ROH and TNA, and now TNA having a partnership with GFW.

In order for the 2nd and 3rd promotions in the world to get on level footing with Dobble Dobble (or anywhere near), they'd simply have to join forces somehow.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, but I think there's something to all of this.
