We are clearly living in the worst timeline.

I mean they had a chance, give it to Ambrose. Let him run both titles around but nope. We get Triple H headlining another Wrestlemania, Roman in the championship picture with a guaranteed win too at Mania. We got what looks like a Lesnar/Wyatt feud which means they are feeding Wyatt to someone else.....again. Zayn and Owens is brought back up and we might get Styles involved as well depending upon what they do with him. That is the only thing that seems even worth it.

does everyone have so long to come out after the number is set

like number 5 then 2 mins later number 6 comes out.. if 5 is not in the ring before 6 they are DQ? Do they have a countdown after 30?

could see roman taking out the 28 other people and then they go number 30... if there is no timer for them roman could take out the rest of the people and think they won, Triple H will run out saying he was number 30 and toss him after everyone else is gone

mostly called it woo

I'm fine with him winning. If Reigns had won, people would be bitching about him being Super Cena 2.0. Wrestling fans on the internet will complain about a finish no matter what happens. It sets it up for Reigns to go over at Wrestlemania, finally.

At the end, part of me was expecting Triple H to eliminate himself and hand the title to Ambrose for a heel turn. Like Stotch said, that would've been more believable if Ambrose had lost earlier.

And I would love to see more of Triple H. Have Roman best him at Wrestlemania with a stipulation that The Authority isn't in control anymore and then just let Triple H go part time and be semi active.

Any news on Rollins? I think him coming out at Fast Lane and turning Wrestlemania into a triple threat with him, HHH and Reigns or hell, just Rollins vs HHH sounds plausible. Not sure where he is health wise though

I Enjoyed that Royal Rumble from top to bottom. The matches were solid and I got Sami Zayn AND AJ Styles in a Royal Rumble so I got no real complaints.Plus I get a Sasha-Charlotte feud on a WWE stage and a possible Owens-Styles feud coming as well and I'm fine with HHH winning since it still beats the alternative of Reigns winning.

Aside from the finish, I really enjoyed it the PPV (Ambrose over Triple H is how I would have gone). The undercard was great and most of the Royal Rumble match was a lot of fun. The Intercontinental Championship match at Wrestlemania is going to overshadow the World Title Match though.

I'm also really happy for AJ Styles. I wanted him to have a WWE run and a Wrestlemania. Based on the crowd reaction, I think he's definitely going to get both.

That was fucking awesome. If you saw the GDYC sign, that was me. We just got home, I'll post a link to my gf's Instagram after she uploads them. My phone died so I can't post any of mine. I'm glad the crowd was appropriately smarky, it felt weird cheering for Based Haitch putting the title on himself, but at least it wasn't Roman. Didn't even occur to me about Ambrose already having a title. And I'm glad we cheered like crazy for AJ, probably eased their fears that he wouldn't get a reaction.

I totally marked out when Sami's music hit.

Ok, time to go eat. Head is still ringing.

That's awesome! I always read the wrestling wrap-up columns on IGN. Glad you had a good time. I loved the show for the most part. As expected, Last Man Standing was match of the night.

AJ Styles & Sting vs. Seth Rollins & HHH is something that should happen at some point.

Im surprised anyone knew who AJ Styles is. I mean its so confusing to us WWE fans. Is he the Undertaker? Is he AJ Lee? Is he Joey Styles? I cant tell the difference :(

Seriously though, I just hope AJ continues to get a push. I know how WWE hates pushing guys who get a great reaction without their help but stranger things have happened.

Also, I never thought I would say this, but the women are still blowing the guys away with their matches. The women actual wrestle fun matches while the men are too busy trying to act like they are wrestling a fun match. If given the time these women tear the house down, while most of the men on the main roster when given time have some paint by numbers match that is so stale.

The Rumble match needed more New Day and less Curtis Axel. Not sure why that guy is still employed. Also, I wish they didnt go the HHH route last night. They could have gotten anyone over like mad by having them eliminate Reigns. HHH doesnt need the heat. Even if they wanted HHH to win, let Ambrose or anyone else throw Roman over the top. Let them enjoy the pop from the crowd.

WWE did a great job generating buzz prior to his debut. The WWE.com article, Balor's cryptic Bullet Club tweets, John Cena and Styles tweeting pics of eachother, dirt sheets and word of mouth... People who live solely in the "WWE Universe" YouTube'd the shit out of his name leading up to his debut at the Royal Rumble.

Very interesting to see how WWE will utilize him. It seems like he's fully bypassing the NXT trial, which is pretty incredible. If so, he deserves it: He's Phenomenal.

We haven't seen this much "ship jumping" between companies in a long time. That was an exciting element that has been missing for quite a while. Clearly the hottest part of the Monday Night Wars era, imo. Very exciting to see who pops up where.

Well he tore his ACL toward the end of November so a Wrestlemania appearance would be way ahead of schedule for him.
Jesus, has it only been two months? It feels so much longer than that.

I enjoyed the show overrall. The most disappointing thing is knowing that Vince heard the pop for AJ, wishing it should have been on Roman, and not capitalizing on it at all.

Favorite parts of that Rumble match were AJ entering, the Owens/Styles moment quickly followed up with the Owens/Zayne moment.

So much promise.

Loved when the booed when roman came back and popped at romans elimination.

What a horrible and predictable ending. Would it have killed them to give ambrose the belt?

So using my crystal ball, at mania we give

KO vs Sami ---- KO wins

ambrose vs jericho ---- ambrose wins

brock vs wyatt ---- brock wins

HHH vs roman ---- roman wins

Unless Bryan comes back and fights aj, i'm cancelling my sub. I'm tired of this shit.

could been worse.. could of allowed ambrose to get to final two and then turn on roman and give the title to vince

mostly no reason to pay for wwe network in march since no ppv. also if those are the matches for mania no reason to come back

Loved the Styles debut and his new entrance music is awesome. Really interested in seeing Raw tonight and where AJ goes from here, looks like he will likely have a match or two with Owens, but seems like Zayn and Owens is a lock for Mania now.

It was a great PPV except for the RR match itself. There were great moments (Styles' debut, Zayn returning, getting comeuppance on Kevin Owens) - and some that made tons of sense to those really paying attention. Owens targeting Styles rewarded indy wrestling fans, Zayn eliminating Owens not only set up their WM match, but eliminated Owens in possibly the *only* way WWE would cheer for (aside from Ambrose getting over on him twice in one night).

There's a ton to love about the show.

I don't even know what to do about the top card. It's actually laugh out loud funny that there's so much speculation about guys moving to the top of the card b/c injuries have put so many out (cue "grab the brass ring" metaphor from top guys who forgot how they got there) - and ultimately, HHH swoops in to save the day. Some fans may want to see HHH/Roman, but I'm not one of them. Roman - fuck, man - I feel sorry for that dude. Cena got mixed chants, while Roman gets straight up booed out of the building. WWE has booked Reigns to be *hated* at the RR the last two years' running. Philadelphia? Yeah, you can write that off as "Philly gonna Philly." Florida booing him out of the building? Not so much.

Having Reigns go sit down for a snack break in the middle of the match did nothing to help people that criticize his in ring skill and work ethic. Not to mention the whole "one versus all" thing is more challenging to swallow when he's out for half the match (and sitting his ass in the corner for a significant portion of the time he was in there). I'm not looking to see Roman become some sort of technical marvel - we love Brock all the same, and dude is just a shitkicker (even if he has the potential for finesse, and we know he does, he doesn't use it in the ring). I do want to like Reigns, but I'm simply not seeing a single reason to do so.

Pretty good show. Much more smarky crowd that I was expecting (witness Sasha, Sami, and AJ getting the biggest reactions of the night). The Rumble match as a match was ok, nothing incredible, but I was kind of impressed that (aside from Reigns getting to take a nap halfway through), whoever booked that seems to have actually learned from the last two years. That, as far as minimizing the crowd's opportunity to shit on it. was VERY well laid out. Get Styles in early for a reaction, but then when it's time to get rid of him have a smark favorite that they hate but actually love get rid of him...then have HIM get tossed by the OTHER crowd favorite literally 2 minutes later. Then have sudden hero Triple H toss Reigns since the crowd now hates him, AND then immediately get him boos by having him toss Ambrose. That went just about perfect.

That said, I did facepalm when HHH's music hit, because I knew there was no way in hell Ambrose was winning that match as the IC champion. And if they are building to Strowman/Lesnar, that better be a fucking Fastlane match and not Wrestlemania.

I want to like Roman, but when we've got guys that can go for an hour and he can't handle a match where breaks are built in... Such an awful job at character building.

Rumble itself was pretty good I thought, could have done without quite a few people that we didn't give a shit about. I don't even have to put names.

It's not going to be Sami/Owens at Mania. Sami's probably getting another run as NXT champ. 2 out of 3 falls match with Joe coming up for #1 contender.

As predictable as the Rumble was I still thought it was probably the best one in 5 years at least. Triple H winning was always a better outcome than Roman winning from the #1 spot. I agree that Roman taking a nap, vintage Roman I know, was lame and did nothing to make me like the guy. I am like you and want to like Roman, but aside from having some solid matches everything else about the guy is unlikable and makes me think he'd be much more successful as heel right now. Absolutely loved everything about Styles debut though and look forward to where he goes from here. Sami Zayn was a great surprise as well.

Can you name some solid Reigns matches? Sincere question: given the network, I should be able to access them and would love to watch.
I am at work at they have the Network blocked here so I can't find the exact dates for you right now, but he had several solid matches with Bray Wyatt during their feud, he had a pretty good last man standing match with Big Show, minus the finish with laying the table on top of Show. He's also recently had a good match with Kevin Owens, but I believe it ended in a lame DQ. His matches haven't been technical or anything like that, but he's looked great on more than one occasion in the ring. Roman current career path is a lot like The Rock's when he first came in. They insisted on shoving Rocky down our throats and the crowd rejected him in a very similar way to how the crowd has responded to Roman. I hope Roman finds his place and is able to become the top guy the company desperately wants him to be, but right now WWE has an incredible roster with NXT and the main roster looking better than ever.

She's got most of the good ones posted.

The easy go-to for a Roman match (and cheating) is last year at Fastlane. The "one vs all" on Raw, which was really Roman vs Owens, was solid. Yes, there's a common thread of someone good on the other side, but good matches always take two. Unless you're Kenny Omega.

did reigns break rey record for time being in the rumble had to be close.. Also dont see how anyone can think the rumble was good it was just plain stupid.  the family is tossed out yet the 3 of them jump back in and take out  brock YET they dont stay in to help the leader win the rumble, same with the nation.. the entire R truth thing is just getting tired

Oh yeah, that reminds me. I hate the 90 second Rumbles. If Roman is just going to be sitting in the back eatin' fruits and bein' cool (tm Hulk Hogan), why not have it be 2 minutes?

The Rumble was good because AJ Styles! In all seriousness though, AJ was only a part of what made this Rumble good despite it being incredibly predictable. Triple H winning was a given and no shock to anyone, but in regards to the storyline it makes sense and advances the storyline with Triple H and Roman into Wrestlemania. We also saw several other potential feuds start up with Wyatt Family vs. Brock Lesnar, Sami Zayn vs. Owens, and AJ Styles vs. Owens are all feuds that can happen due to the set up in the Rumble. Also the undercard was quite good this year too, every match was solid if not great and the overall show was several steps up from the majority of PPVS WWE had throughout 2015 with Wrestlemania and NXT TakeOver events being an exception.

EDIT: Does anyone here watch PROGRESS? They had Chapter 25 over the weekend headlined by Marty Scurll vs. Will Osprey, which judging from their previous matches is without a doubt another classic. I have their on-demand service and should be able to watch Chapter 25 soon, usually takes them a few days to update the on-demand, but definitely looking forward to watching that match. PROGRESS is a great company to follow if you are into a more mature wrestling promotion, they bill themselves as Punk Rock Wrestling and Pro Wrestling for Adults. Great talent from the UK though, tons of awesome matches.

The Straight Shoot podcast has recommended Progress, as have a few friends of mine in the UK. I've been meaning to check that out - the two names that continually pop up again and again are Osprey and Scurll.

Watching the Rumble match again, I'll have some sympathy for Reigns: he's either dealing with the worst cold imaginable, or someone broke his nose. The marks on the bridge of his nose lead me to think the latter, but he's way not 100%. He also spends the bulk of the match breathing out of his mouth, which...ugh, I can't imagine how hard it is to handle your cardio that way. He enters the match that way, so I wouldn't go looking for a spot in the match where that happens.

I also highly recommend it. Check out the On-Demand service, it's about $7.99 a month. If you use the promo code ATT99CENT though you should be able to get the first month for .99 cents, which is well worth the price to at least check out a few Chapters or matches. Outside of Osprey and Scurll several other guys to watch that wrestle regularly in Progress are Tommy End, Zack Sabre Jr., Dave Mastiff, and Mark Haskins to name a few.

With Roman's nap, he's sixth. Rey Mysterio is still number 1 at 1 hour 2 minutes.
didnt the thing start around 950 est time and he was tossed around 1058 that is over an hour and 8 mins isnt it

how about finishes.. 2nd 1st and 3rd in back to back to back years.that has to be a record as well

Love to see it happen but doubtful. with next year being the 30 year thing i would love to see them do 2 rumbles. one normal rumble and one where they bring back old fighters... Hated this rumble cause it had no shocking people entering it

Dammit Slidecage you my friend put the pajamas on the cat. No surprises? Sami Zayn and AJ Styles are two pretty big ones, yeah they were rumored, but surprises none the less and in AJ's case possibly the biggest surprise entrant in the history of the event. Also having two Royal Rumbles on one PPV would be absolute overkill, the match lasts about an hour long every time.

If I ever cancel NJPWorld, I'll check out Progress. When NJPW did a small UK tour mid-last year, they did some co-branded shows w/ Revolution Pro, so Scrull, Osprey, and a few others have matches available on NJPWorld. I'll look there first - I can't justify three diff. monthly-based wrestling programs.

I feel ya there. Demand Progress is extremely easy to cancel though, so if you decide to check it out for a month you can do it for .99 cents. I pay for way too many streaming services in general and two of them are wrestling, my younger brother has NJPW, so I just use his account and let him use my Progress account. I'd love to go to a Progress show if I ever venture overseas, but from what I know their shows sell out within minutes every time similar to PWG shows.

So Nikki Bella was wrestling with a broken freakin neck near the end of her title run... She'll be having neck surgery on Wednesday and it may end up being career ending. If she does come back she'll need a new finisher since the doctors have banned the Rack Attack.

Loved the Rumble. I'm glad Dean lost this way and not with Roman in the ring like last year.

One thing I didn't like was how Brock was eliminated.  The 3 Wyatt members were already gone yet they sent Brock out.  I don't understand how that counts.
