[quote name='The Mana Knight']I dunno if this was posted yet, but this is a link discussing how Sony didn't know the severity until Monday. That explains the delayed response like I mentioned (and analyzing the data to assure there was a compromise takes a day, which led to the Tuesday news):

So they needed to bring in an outside security firm just to figure out what information was accessed on their own network? If they were running a small site or were they Bed, Bath and Beyond, I can see them not having the in-house expertise to manage their own infrastructure, but Sony? No way. That's a ridiculous excuse.
And you are still buying the "they had NO IDEA until Monday" story?
I think you try to be a nice guy and I do my best to like you but, as I have said in your blogs sometimes, you are also just like a little kid. When you go on these crusades, it really does leave a sour taste in my mouth.
I don't want to wish ill on anyone, but I truly feel like the only way you would ever pull the Sony teat from your mouth would be if you had registered CC info rather than buying thousands of dollars worth of PSN cards and someone ran up tons of charges on it.
If by some some strange twist of fate you log into your PSN account once everything is up and running to find it completely empty with no purchase history, that would actually be beneficial.
Again, I'm not wishing this upon you, I'm just making an observation. Seriously, it's called blind faith for a reason. You need to be able to admit when mistakes were made.
As for me, the worst to come out of it has been that I can't move any games to my new PSP which I was really looking forward to doing.
Regardless of the fact that I was barely affected, I can clearly see from my perspective that things were handled improperly and the fact that you have yet to admit even one iota of fault really does discredit you IMHO.
Now, for the record, my gaming preferences are as follows:
This gen - 360
This gen portable - PSP
Last gen - PS2
Best ever - SNES/DC
I have never and will never attach myself to one company because, they are all run by people and you can never know what another person is really thinking.
But, I will base my feelings on track record amongst other things. PS3 started out terribly for me this gen. It was a blu-ray player only 90% of the time for the first 2+ years I had one.
The fact that it's region free on all games and blu-rays share a region between the US and Japan was really a winning point though. PS3 has really been creeping up my list that past couple of years and, had you asked me just a month ago, I would have said it was a VERY tight race between the 360 or PS3 being my favorite.
But, something like this happening really tarnishes it for me. Not because it changes the hardware at all, but because it makes me doubt the leadership behind it.
Having been in management for a long time, I have always felt that the people behind the products and services are the most important thing, so there is no way that I would look at this lightly.
Sony made a huge mistake. I'm sure there are dozens if not hundreds of people inside the company that know it, but getting them to admit it is the hard part. I am fairly sure that a wholly different story is going to come out about this in the future if anyone has the inclination to look deeper into it. Hopefully that letter from the U.S. Senator will ensure that happens.
But really, try to have at least a little humility. Personally, if I placed all my faith in one single thing the way you do, I would feel bad about myself.
