Destiny is like Borderlands the same way FIFA 14 is like NBA2K14 because they both involve a round ball.
I really don't understand the comparison. They both have guns and sometimes you get drops from enemies...that's pretty much where it ends. I'm pretty sure Destiny never claimed it was trying to be like Borderlands, but for some reason, everyone started throwing that comparison out there.

Also, yesterday Breakfuss said that Destiny spent time claiming to be something it wasn't. Or something like that, I'm paraphrasing. I don't recall seeing that happening either. Maybe gaming sites made it out to be something else, but if you've watched the show demos, played the alpha and the beta, and still had no idea what you were getting at launch, I'd say you're pretty fucking retarded Snakey.

Actually I read it before the beta from a guy at Bungie that it was kinda like Borderlands.

“We are absolutely doing things that would be familiar if you’ve played any kind of open-world game,” creative lead Joe Staten told us. “I mean… Far Cry, even. We would be idiots if we didn’t look at an awesome game like Borderlands and ask, ‘What are they doing well and how can we try to hit that same ball?’ I have never played a game where I have such a great attachment to my gun as I do in Borderlands."

Boring guns...I'd say they failed in that respect. Hit the same ball? They aren't even playing the same game.

I've read things where they've compared it to "open-world" games, which was a little misleading. That included Borderlands, but also included Far Cry. I remember interviews where they threw out multiple games, and said they were trying to improve on elements from other games, again, including Far Cry and Borderlands.

After hearing a lot of you guys getting tired of destiny already it reminds me why I love rockstar games. They put out similar games every time yet the amount of interesting content and characters they create is staggering.

Yeah they shouldn't have even mentioned those games at all. This isn't really a loot driven game at all. You just buy the next weapon that does more damage from the gunsmith when u level up.

I can see the comparison to BL pretty easily at least on the surface-level; sci-fi FPS/RPG with class-based skills and loot systems set in a desert environment. Unfortunately Destiny really comes up short in the comparison due to its much shorter length and relative lack of personality.

What's kind of funny about it is that Destiny so closely mirrors Halo in length and focus (MP). Bungie really didn't go out on a limb when making the game.

Did you write that wrong?

Really enjoying Resistance Burning Skies. Probably due to having such low expectations. And it means I'm not getting frustrated playing VX2.

One little nuance that Resistance does on this game is you can pause and go to the trophy option within the game and it shows what percentage you are towards getting that trophy. Really great feature. Dunno if Resistance 2 or 3 did that. I wish all games did this.

One of these days, I'll probably "rent" Resistance: Burning Skies from Gamestop just to get the plat like the rest of you.
Using the sniper in this game only reminds of how great Uncharted Golden Abyss's implementation of the sniper scope was where you could fine tune your aiming by moving the Vita. It was perfect and made me excited for the games to come that would make this the new standard. And here I still wait, and wait.

But yeah, back to Resistance sniper, it feels lacking after playing Uncharted.

So I've figured out what I waste money on from our convo the other day.

Am reorganizing my closet and seeing what I'm keeping, what is trash, what to donate and crap I have a TON of dresses 0.o;;;

I would have liked to have seen a little more enemy variety. Seemed there were only two or three types besides the brute/boss ones. But yeah, low expectations gives a good experience.

And I loved the trophy percentage screen. More games need to do that. Help a brutha out, games!

Borderlands is so much nicer with loot tho, and so much more random. This game really only has maybe 3-5 variants of the same type of gun. and borderlands you could find rare guns at any level, I think this game you don't even try for purple/gold weapons/armor until after you hit the level cap ish of 20. If I had to wait til I was max level in borderlands to get a tight gun I wouldn't have played as long.

also i did a freebie quickie money shot just for tyler and he misses it! doh
I played a couple hours of Destiny last night and 4 or 5 hours this morning. I like it but don't love it. The first couple hours was the Alpha/Beta. I played most of it already. The moon is cool though and I like how I am playing and all of a sudden I happen upon others and can join their fight. You are right though this isn't very much like Borderlands.

There is no story really. At least not that I care about enough to listen to the dialog. The guns are kind of cool but NOTHING like Borderlands 2 (I haven't played BL1 in a long time). I haven't played any coop yet or any of the Crucible stuff. I think I beat all the main missions on Earth and several on the Moon upto 8.

Depending on how much I play this coop I can see me holding on to it for a while and maybe even picking up some of the maps and stuff.

But with several games I want to play coming out in the next 2 - 3 months I can see me moving on too.

There were at least five:

The jumpers

The standard guys

The bugs

The converted humans (the ones in the egg things)

The ones with the augers (shoot-through-wall guns)

Plus yeah the bigger ones that start as bosses but you run into a number later on in the game.

Those are all on PC, though, except for RDR and Liberty City Stories (PSP.)
I played vice city stories about 6 months ago on my PSP and it was still fairly enjoyable. RDR would be a lot more fun if manual targeting didn't use the pressure sensitive button feature. If you let up on the trigger in the slightest (even if you are still holding it down) you lose your lock.

So scientific research here. I started all 3 25 kills and did 3 matches of crucible on salvage. already done with Hunters so 25+, at 17 with Warlocks, and at 11 with Titans. So online it goes Hunter, Warlock, Titan in frequency. 3 round sample size that is all.

Don't forget about the guys that use the hunter guns. The standard guys are skinny and have no shirts on, but the hunter gun guys are a bit bigger and have black head to toe armor/outfit on.

Crap. I need to knock out Ys: MoC so I can send it back to Gamefly and cancel my free trial.

Also need to knock out something in my physical backlog; in 3 days I'll have an opening in my eBay category selling limit to resell another game.

Now I just need to figure out which to play. :wall:

Suggestions from the short games list?

Title/Hours from HowLongToBeat

Heavenly Sword 7

Lollipop Chainsaw 7

Asura's Wrath Started 7.5

Killzone 3 7.5

Neverdead 9

Splatterhouse 9

God of War 3 10

Heavy Rain 11

Uncharted 2 12

Basically trying to figure out which will be the most fun to quickly knock out. If it has trophies, least annoying as well. Kind of leaning towards Lollipop Chainsaw.
You can finish Heavenly Sword fairly fast and it has no trophies so there's no reason to replay on the harder difficulty or replay each mission to get a perfect score as all it unlocks is character art.

No, he needs to play something with trophies asap. He's stuck at 666, and if that doesn't change, I fear something bad will befall him or his family.

Aren't the augers, regular guys, & jumpers just the same dude with a different gun/backpack? They looked all the same to me. That's how I came to my three number.

Am I seriously thinking about getting resistance for vita? I held out for so long? Why do you guys keep dragging me in???
Oh, and it has a weapon wheel! I know they brought it back for Resistance 3, but thankfully they put it in Burning Skies. Having fun right now switching between Auger killing guys behind walls, then switching to an easy weapon to kill close by enemies so I can conserve the good weapon ammo.

Its an easy game but i'm having fun. There is no difficulty trophies to worry about, so I've got it on easy mode cruising through it.

I saw the very end at least where your grrl did the peace sign.

Stopped in Toys R Us today with the intention of grabbing Swap Force. Even with the figures discounted, it was gonna be ~$40 for the starter pack and the 2 (legendary) figures I had picked out. That's when I remembered I had $10 Amazon credit and just ordered the Amazon bundle that Zimm recommended for ~$52 shipped.

Those 3 you mention all do look similar. The Auger is bigger, tougher to take down. The jumpers have legs that are reversed like the back legs of a horse. The jumpers packs also move around like wings.

Edit: whoop, RPG beat me to it and with visual aid no less.

One good scene so far in the entire damn MGS2 game. Just about to the end, the scene I meant was the Lady Luck one. Do people like this ironically or is it just some gigantic mass troll?
