Looks lie some more very good deals. $4 something a month for a slew of arcade and PS3 games I otherwise would never have got to try is a good deal.

Well said.

You don't really need to buy tons of games off the PSN Store for PS+ to be worth it. Its actually a must have for those that never buy anything off the PSN Store, for $4 per month you get betas, cloud storage for saves, auto patching, an online magazine, free games, exclusive dynamic themes, and on rare occasions like this month you get bonus stuff like Far Cry.

If I subscribe to PS+ before that sale can I still get the valentines specials or was there a certain time you had to be subscribed for to be eligible?

Yes. You can subscribe now and be fine. You can subscribe Valentines Day and still be eligible for the special. You could even subscribe Feb. 20th and still be eligible.

Thanks. You mentioning those Dynamic Themes stuck out. As, I've see them mentioned before, so I did a quick research on what they are. I download like 10 free(ps+)ones! Live wallpapers for my PS3? Yes please!:D

The Sonic The Hedgehog 1 is a bit ear piercing.

About the only things I might use PS+ for is the cloud save thing and maybe the freebie themes/avatars(which you get to keep once the PS+ expires). Otherwise I'm definitely not one for clogging up my HDD with stuff, especially full games that have been digitally re-released.

As for the free games for the next month, a good chunk of those Genesis games are available on the Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, so if you don't wanna pay for PS+ that's another option for some of us.:)

Yeah. I got that Sonic Collection for $10 from Newegg and it has TONS of Sega games on it! :D

already got all the sega and farcry 2 game but damn, just simpsons is great. plus battle fantasia.
thats awesome right there.
thnx frisky and psn+
The deals for this week (Full Update Here):

PS3
Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom - $4.99

PlayStation Plus

PS3
Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom - $3.99
So if you want to own Mahjong Tales and not just "own" Mahjong Tales, buy it this week.

In the area of "what have you done for me recently?", this update is awful, sales-wise.

I have a rather weak PSN collection so the Sega pack is just fantastic for me. Throw in the Simpsons & FarCry 2 and I'm blown away, feels like I've already gotten my worth from PS+ in just the past few months.

Ditto in my eyes it kills my Xbox Live subscription! They NEVER give free shit!

Holy crap that's an awesome list. I already have a lot of it, but Battle Fantasia is a really nice surprise. Cannot wait to play some Simpson's Arcade :D

Damn.

Far Cry 2 got mediocre reviews but I've always been at least sort of interest in the series.

I think I sold Battle Fantasia on Xbox but I'd play it again.

I'm really thrilled that I didn't buy FF5 when it first hit PSN.

Finally Simpsons Arcade was already a no-brainer.

Bravo Sony, bravo.

...But ...but trophies! and online multiplayer for some of them. and the better arcade version of Golden Axe. off the top of my head
Do the Sega games have online multiplayer? That's something Sonic's UGC didn't and I'd love to play some Golden Axe and Streets of Rage online.
Golden Axe and Streets of Rage have online multiplayer, and they worked fine when I played them several months ago.

Oh and I picked up Civ 5 today with the code you gave me.

Streets of Rage online!!!!!! OMG!

I played the Sonic 2 multiplayer and the lag was awful.

Hey with these deals wondering about Hard Drive space. Say I download Far Cry 2 and delete it later because I'm out of space can I still go back and download it for free later if I still have PS+ or is it only free until I delete it?

Wha? It is averaging 85 on Metacritic.

Yea, you will be able to download it again no problem. Heck...you don't even have to download it now. Just "buy" it once it goes free and it will remain in your purchase history.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that once you've gotten to the point that you have the red shopping bag icon on an item, accomplished by selecting download and hitting back on the next screen, it's credited to your account.
Wha? It is averaging 85 on Metacritic.
Wow, really? I remember it coming out to little or no fanfare and Chac making fun of it across CAG because he paid $60 for it and was pissed off. I'll certainly give it a shot but it might be months down the road, I'm sort of approaching a FPS slump.

Glad you picked up Civ V! It got a mixed reception for being too newbie-friendly, but I think it's pretty good.

Would the arcade version of Golden Axe happen to be 3-playered? That would be rad.

Oh wow, good to see that Hydrophobia: Prophecy is still available. I forgot to get it. Can't wait for the free stuff starting next week for February.

I already got the Genesis games on cartridge and Sonic's Ultimate Collection on 360 so for free is what I'll pay for, besides updating PS+ subscription.

Same with Final Fantasy V. I got it on the Gameboy Advance so I'm good for it as a freebie, wouldn't pay the asking price though.

Definitely want Simpsons Arcade more than Far Cry 2, but I'll take them both.

since getting the free month of ps+ after the hacking, and now recieving a free month with my new ps3, i'm def waiting for ps+ sale that includes RE games or Final fantasy ps1 games. after the free month i had, as well as watching the "sales" and freebies that followed, ive concluded that PS+ is a glorified rental service, with sales that often match those on xbla, combined with better sale prices on the poorer games, i.e. hydrophobia, which i wouldnt want anyway. honestly, PS+ would have been better had they not had free online in the first place, as at least with xbox im paying for the sales as well as the online component. that way, i can fool myself into thinking that im getting a better deal.

Eh, we got Hydrophobia for free on day one.

I've come to the conclusion that anyone who is still bashing PS+ as not providing enough value has a memory that does not last longer than a week.

the free month i got from my ps3 holiday bundle says it expires 3/30 i believe. Im not sure i ever got a free month of plus from the hacking, was it added right after psn was back up? Was it a code or something?

it was free during the 'welcome back' thing they did after the month of hack. ps+ sucked mega bum back then tho, i think the only free thing i got was lilo and stitch. thankfully, i didnt renew, so i deleted that turd:lol:

Totally agree with the statement.

PS+ has been a great value for the past year or so now. Even a cheapo such as myself has been in and out of + because the deals are just too good to pass up. I'll be using another month code next week for the Simpsons.

Free Stacking on Day 1 was worth a couple months just right there. Cloud saves and auto downloads of patches etc also add to the value for me. $4 a month (if you pay full price, which most of us have not) is well worth it to me.
I wish they had a $14.99 a year (or less) version with cloud saves and discounts, but no free games.
I hadn't thought about his, but I would also join immediately. I care not to pay for the free game rentals, but the rest of the service is great.

Yeah the only thing I'm really interested in is the sales. I don't have enough time to play all of the free games, but the bigger games I would buy at the discount.

This. BTTF, Marvel Pinball, Costume Quest, Plants vs Zombies, Stacking, Shatter, Hydrophobia, Tomb Raider Underworld were all free games I enjoyed.

Also got Jurassic Park for free for renewing for another year (even though I bet this will eventually be another free monthly game). And now Far Cry 2 and Simpsons Arcade in February...

Tack on auto-patches and cloud saving and early access to betas and free game trials and better discounts on sale games...yep, worth it to me.
