This is the same name I've used since dialing into BBS's back in the early 90s.  I'm taking it to the grave which by this statement some of you are probably thinking that isn't that far away.

I'm on the fence. Mine's not bad, per se, it's just that a lot of people mispronounce it. It's Dunelion, like Dune + Lion. A surprising amount of people say it like Du-Nee-Lee-Awn, like a singular word.

That warning at the bottom of the FAQ has me wondering how bad of a shitshow will this be?

Oh, well. I like my name I'll just sit and watch.
Given Sony's record on these things, I'd give it a good long several months wait before attempting a change. They'll give warning if they are going to change it to a paid service (and I'm sure they will sometime around when the PS5 is due, as they will calculate that as a good time to bump up service profits), so no need to rush into this headfirst until you know they have the kinks worked out. That username you thought was funny and/or ironic ten years ago, but hasn't aged well will keep for now ... :)

Someone told me about a last of us 2 theme. Anyone know how to get it? I cant find it
This one was free at some point (since I have it), but now it's showing $2.99. https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA07820_00-TLOUPIIOUTBREAK1

This one is free: https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA07820_00-TLOUIIBURNINGCAR

Another one from 2017 is also $2.99 (who pays for themes?): https://store.playstation.com/en-us/product/UP9000-CUSA07820_00-TLOUPIISTOPSIGN1

Was it any of those?

Thanks. It must have been the free one, ty!

Did anyone else immediately search to see how many other year editions of Airport Simulator were also available?

If not and you were wondering...

When are gaming execs going to get it through their heads that new reveals with only CGI trailers and no gameplay don't work as well as they used to? Then again, this is EA, so the answer to that is probably "never".

Has anyone played THPS 5? I'm really curious about it even though it was critically panned. Just baffled how it hasn't really gotten below $20 on sale.

So I had some issue with my external drive the other day and ended up following instructions I found online and deleting a game from the drive. The game is no longer there, but i can't down load it from the store or my library either. I think I recall having read a solution to this problem in this thread some time ago, but I couldn't locate it. Does anyone know what the solution may be?

I hope this doesn't rule out the complete backwards compatibility from PS1 onwards that's been rumored, and that Sony is saving an announcement like that for later.
Sony can do PS1 and PS2 completely through software and could have on PS4, so if they don’t its just because they’re choosing not to.

This is what I'm hoping for, too... even though I'll never have the time to play those games.

So far I'm kind of disappointed. Had they announced PS1-PS3 backward compatibility, I'd have a pre-order placed immediately since you can't buy a new (not used) console that plays those games anymore. PS4 compatibility may be nice 10 years from now, but for the moment, you can get those systems in every store, so yeah.

The whole announcement of using an SSD as a selling point is laughable to me. The first thing I do when I buy a PS console is remove the stock hard drive and install the largest one I can. So their oh-so-special SSD is just going to end up in a box with all my other stock hard drives after I slide a 2tb in there. Had they announced the PS5 was going to use desktop drives form factor instead of laptop drives, I would have been more excited since I'd be able to put in an 8tb or more instead of maxing out at 2tb.

All in all, this feels more like they just announced a PS4 Pro Pro.

If they will even let you swap out the SSD on this new console... and if they are pushing developers to utilize internal SSD speeds, does this mean external HDD use will be nixed?

I am glad to hear PS4 compatibility is in at least since my disc drive is dying and I can definitely just ride this out until PS5 then instead of buying another one or trying to repair it.

I assume the chance of PS5 having complete BC with PS2 and not limited(added piece meal like original Xbox for X1) is slime to none right?
Although eh, I don't think let that possibility effect me buying a PS2 soon. If I drop 60 on that it will just be another room I can have PS2 playable in.

PS1 and PS2 shouldn't be a huge deal. They already have emulators developed for those. PS3 is the problem that they are going to have to tackle like how MS is re-engineering their 360 games to be BC.

I really hope the PS5 is PS3 backwards compatibile.  I really purchased a pre-owned PS3 after skipping Sony last generation just to be able to play my PS Plus games that I have collected over time since purchasing a PS4.  I played this gen's God of War and loved it.  So I wanted to play through the series from the beginning.  Now I have a conundrum since all of those PS Plus games have clogged up my 320 gb hard drive.  And the only GoW game I don't own right now is Ascension which has a 35 gb file.  It's on sale right now for $3.99 which is a great price, but I am actually hesitant to go digital if I cannot play it on my PS3 without deleting a bunch of stuff since the PS3 doesn't allow externals the the Xbox 360 or the current generation does.  But if the PS5 will support PS3 games, I would definitely go digital and wait to play it on the next gen system.

I guess no Spring Sale this week?
We didn't have a Spring sale last year, the Great Indoors was the closest thing. The past couple weeks have been pitiful, all we can hope for is a decent flash this weekend.

The PS5 news is cool, glad to hear that my PS4 backlog will carry over and my VR unit won't be obsolete for awhile. Of course I would love to have PS1-3 compatibility to consolidate everything, but that seems like lofty dreams.

And they will choose not to. They're doubling down on PS store by removing POS sales of digital games (while also a move to add more refund flexibility) and keeping everything they can in-house at this point. PS1-3 are decades old by now and left to hobbyist shops like GS to keep alive through pre-owned sales alone. It's just not a demand they need to meet. As fond of old games as I am, I simply don't have time to play through current gen games fast enough let alone old generation games unless I'm really, really wanting to.

What I do like is the percolation of information this far ahead of time to outline some key bullets. They're showing a real desire to be open about development so that when it comes time to reveal, they can let the screen do the talking.

I actually don’t mind if they take that approach, but they’re not even doing that. I would have gladly accepted no BC on PS4 in exchange for the PS Classics and PS2 Classics in the PS3 store to move forward, so at least those digital purchases could move along with me. We’re talking about relatively easy bones to throw at customers, and it’s an excuse to continue selling those games and getting publishers to continue making more to sell on the store.

do you have any physical game installs? deleting those can clear up alot of space. Or you could get a larger harddrive, use an external or something.

I replaced my internal hard drive with this 1.5 TB replacement. It is VERY easy to do. It just takes some time to re-download everything because of how PS3s are set up. It will provide you with loads of space.

It's very unlikely you'll be swapping out the SSD for a hard drive, because it will probably be an M.2 form factor PCIe SSD. It would be cool if they still let you have a 2.5" drive and allowed the SSD to become a cache for recently played games though.

I'm skeptical that we'll see any PS3 compatibility, because of the weird architecture of the cell processor (which is why the PS4 can't do it). Maybe the PS5 will have enough raw horsepower to do it in software, but I doubt it.

The PS5 news is great to hear, though all those features make me worry about how expensive it's going to be out of the gate.  I'll probably grab one when it's been out for 1.5-2 years, as that gives them time to straighten out any kinks and maybe throw in a price drop or a good bundle.  In any case, I look forward to hearing more about it.

As for this week's sale...the new GoW for $24 certainly isn't bad, but you can pay $6 more and get a physical copy at many retailers at the moment.
