My survivor pick is a total roll of the dice, but that makes it a bit more fun.  Trying to pick a shitty team to win to save better picks for later has pretty much never worked out for me in the past, but if it is broke be lazy and don't fix it is my motto.

Ive never done an elimination game. Can you not pick the same team week to week or something?

Teslagrad is okay, but it's no Xeodrifter. It might not even be a Grow Home.
I think it was a much better game than Grow Home. At least it had the puzzle elements to go along with the platforming. Grow Home you just try not to fall for the most part. There was some strategy with how to grow the vines I guess.

If anybody was interested in the new Iron Maiden album, it's pretty good. Really good, actually. I've been listening to it a ton since last week. I think it's their best since Brave New World. "If Eternity Should Fail" is probably my favorite song on there. It wouldn't sound out of place if it was on Somewhere in Time or one of the other classics.
I'll check it out since I'm Prime. Brave New World was an awesome album. What was the name of the last album they did? I went to the tour where they played that in it's entirety and people were pisssssed. I knew they were gonna do it so I made sure to get into the album beforehand, but it was not their best.

The FInal Frontier was the last one. I didn't like it much at all. Brave New World is probably my favorite of theirs, and this one is pretty similar in that it has long songs and loads of melody.

That's cool you guys like Brave New World. I thought that album was amazing. It's the last one I really listen to even though I have a few other albums that came out after that. Really no other bands from that era were still making any good music that I've heard by the time BNW came out, so it's amazing they were able to put something like that out. It was the first time I saw them live on that tour. I'd say it's my 4th favorite from them after Number of the Beast, Fear of the Dark, and Seventh Son.

I'll have to look out for the new one on vinyl.

Sounds like there's a decent shot I should be able to snag a Bowser Jr tomorrow.
Pfft, I got one of those over a month ago. (but gave it to a friend)

The exclusives should be fairly easy to get since the number of units per store look good, it's just the non-exclusives that will still be getting the 8 or whatever per store numbers.

Nintendo did say they would double or triple the number of figures per store, it's just that we forgot that those numbers used to be 2-4.

I already have ZSS and Dr. Mario so I don't have to worry about anything tomorrow. Feels good.

I got the hang of it, but it just seems like more buttons than really needed. Why couldn't it just be L1 tap is whatever it's set to and long press to set it or something like that? Just one of those Metal Gear-ism control schemes. Which is odd because the rest of the controls seem to make perfect sense.

Agreed.
I believe there's an option to skip the R3 press and just do the hold L1 and push the right stick sequence. Should be somewhere in the controls menu.

And I'm guessing it's that many steps because the other buddies have more complicated command sets. You won't always have the horse with you.

The only thing insane about TCGs are that they don't get the universal love they deserve. I'm not particularly a fan of Yugioh but I'll play any well made TCG.
I'm all for the LCGs (Living Card Game) these days. Screw random booster packs (except for those times when you open some with a friend and can taunt them with a cool rare you got from one of your packs. Unless they got the rare you needed. Then fuck random packs again.)

LCGs are definitely better than CCGs, but I don't care much for either. It's like card game equivalent of micro-transactions. You've got to keep buying in order to keep up.

Stuff like Netrunner definitely overdoes it. I couldn't imagine trying to keep up with all of the packs they release. Especially since you might get one or two cards per pack that you would realistically use.

26 packs so far and 4 deluxe expansions (and 1 base game)? At retail that would be $550 for a game that isn't even 3 years old.

In fact that's the LCG I own. I realized how bad it was before I bought into any of the packs. I keep meaning to sell or trade it but haven't gotten around to it.

I only have the base game of it so far which probably isn't the best representation since the Corps feel underpowered in it (especially their economy).

Worst thing might be how hard it is to get some of the more popular and useful packs, like Opening Moves, since people feel the need to hoard all of those Jackson Howards so they don't have to go through the pain of moving 3 cards from one deck to another.

Thats the beauty about most video game card games, at least on console, they're self contained and everything is in the game without additional transactions.

The THPS 1 soundtrack sucks, tbh. There are only like 9 or 10 songs on it and despite how many times I've heard all the songs throughout playing that shit, I only remember like 1 or 2 until I see the title or hear it again.

Netrunner is fun, a friend of mine bought the base pack and we played a couple times. I don't think I could keep up with all the meta and new cards and stuff though.

I love how Tyler says we are weird for trophies then starts "playing" Sound Shapes the next day.
I never said I didn't like trophies. Sound Shapes is easy and it took like 30 seconds and some downloading and cloud syncing for 15 more silvers.

I'm not going to play an interactive novel with a guide on my first playthrough just cuz I'm worried about missing trophies.

You are a terrible horrible awful person.

Madden Ultimate Team is like the complete antithesis of this.

I honestly think I'm done messing with it other than for trophy purposes. I love the collecting aspect of it, but they're not really there just for the sake of collecting. It's more for the purpose of getting an upgraded player for your team, which playing online doesn't really interest me because the dudes you play in matchmaking are the ultimate cheesers. Some collections are repeatable, so they erase all your progress once you get the last card. It's like you never did it in the first place other than them giving you some little reward. I'd rather see the collection that I attained than have some card with a couple boosted ratings. Other collections expire on certain dates, so if you don't have them filled by then, then it's like it never mattered that you collected those cards to fill the set.

I like the way MLB 15 did it, and they would perfect it if in 16 they have more legend/flashback cards along with a couple other tweaks.

Pinball league starts up again for me tonight.  I'll take my learnings from the most recent Pinball Arcade tournament and do nothing with them.

Except Magic. Those bastards will nickel and dime you each and every year.

And it looks like this year they're going with the "F2P" model. I'd almost prefer the old base game + DLC expansions model.

Yep. ONE fuckING SONG IS THE GOTO SONG IN THE GAME.

Yes, but cute girls in running shorts?
Yeah, the one I have my eye on had on workout pants, but i'm not complaining of course.

Got a chance to talk to her for a quick second as she was finishing up her laps (I still had a few more, I'm sure she ran quicker than me but she also got there earlier). By the time I was done she was gone so no chance for a better convo. Probably could have caught her before she left if I wasn't busy dying in the locker room after I finished my run.

Xbox is in the process of "sunsetting" XBL Indie Games (XBLIG), and will close down the store entirely in 2 years, in September 2017.

Even if I still owned a 360 I wouldn't give a shit about XBLIG closing, but definitely makes me wonder about XBLA and PSN on last gen consoles. I'd think at some point they'll close down those marketplaces as well, at some point maintaining them is going to cost more than the revenue they bring in.

Good news is they said all previously purchases XBLIG will still be downloadable. That's really the biggest thing for me and PSN on PS3, I don't want to lose access to my purchases. I don't think we will (seems like MS or Sony would have a big class action lawsuit on their hands if they tried to tell people they can't download games they paid for any more) but I'm interested to see how it plays out.

NPD results are out. I didn't even realize. PS4 #1 console for August.

Top 10 Games:

1.) Madden NFL 16 (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3)
2.) Minecraft (360, PS3, Xbox One, PS4)
3.) Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Xbox One)
4.) Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
5.) Lego: Jurassic World (360, 3DS, Wii U, PS3, Xbox One, PS4, Vita)
6.) Rare Replay (Xbox One)
7.) Until Dawn (PS4)
8.) Call of Duty: Black Ops Combo Pack (360, PS3)
9.) Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4, Xbox One)
10.) Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)

Decent show by both Rare Replay and Until Dawn IMO. Rare Replay was super budget priced. I don't know what Black Ops combo pack is but I am kinda disappointed that it was the 8th best selling video game last month, considering it was only last gen and (I'm assuming) games that are 2-4 years old.

They're just now killing off PSM and there's not been a hint of PSP support going away. We're even still getting PSP titles that haven't yet released. I don't think we need to be too worried.
