PSP Slim Redesign

Going to search for one tomorrow. Went to TRU and CC today and picked up SOCOM 2, LEGO Star Wars II, Lumines II, Untold Legends, and Wipeout Pure all on the cheap ($8-$14).

Can you guys also report back if you find the official Sony PSP-2000 Component AV Cables (8.2ft) in stock? It's supposed to be $19.99 MSRP, I believe. Thx.

Cancelled my Amazon one, and ordered it from GS. I'm going to return it in store, then trade my old one in and buy back the one I returned.

I wouldn't suggest anyone else trying this, but I work there so I can pull it off.
Just waiting to see if this can be downgraded...c'mon guys...
Pandora's battery won't work in its current state. You might have to wait a while.

So, how do the games look on the TV? I must know now! I am getting one ASAP. I will keep my big one for my homebrew apps(SNES goodness) and the slim one for playing LAIR on. ;)
Just bought one at Target, but I really shouldn't've. I think I'll keep it sealed and wait to see if GS gets it in tomorrow.
did you get it for the target.com $169 list price??

sorry if this has been addressed earlier (whether target is actually selling 'em for that price or not)
If the star wars bundle is going to have the game inside a paper sleeve as well, then fuck it I'm importing a ceramic.
Import now, buddy. No original game case in the Star Wars Bundle, as well.

Ecmazza, you would need to pricematch the Target webpage to get the $169.99 price at Target stores or any other B&M storefronts. It will be YMMV, but good luck.

fuck thats crap. I might as well import too. Can't sell/trade in the game so that sucks. At least I won't have that Darth pic on the back.

I give the hackers...2 weeks. 2 weeks and it will be hacked in some way so I can play NES games on it...can't wait.

I would love to get one now, but I want piano black... I am still pissed logitec has yet to make a case for the new model. Also, how much is a PSP traded in going for? is it still roughly $70?

Well fine but only if you stop calling me buddy. That shit is pissing me off.

so with the new PSP's video output I know it can output UMDs or videos to the TV, but can it do it for the PSP games so I can play Metal Gear Portable Ops on my big screen?

Yes, yes you can.

At least according to earlier posts in this thread :p

movies via anything
I guess it's assuming too much that the system comes with the component cables?

Well it's $70 at my local Game Crazy. I think FYE gives you $60 credit and $50 cash and GameStop might give you $60 also (not sure about this one).

Has anyone found one in the NY region? I want to pick it up today, preferably at a $169 PM'ed price...

Update:

CC's on LI seem to all have them. I tried BB, WM, Target and all said no. Of course it is early. Let's see if CC will PM this printout...

anyone who gets a chance to use the video output on the new PSP with a PSP game please post impressions. I want to know if it looks good playing a PSP game on the big screen.

I've had no inclinations to "upgrade" but if this feature works well I'd reconsider.

You can only play the games with the actual PSP on the TV, correct? There is no controller plug like the Nomad?

That'd be awesome wouldn't it. So many PSP games would be better if you could just use PS2 pads. Sadly, it's not an option as far as I know.

The sad Star Wars news now has me scratching my head about trying to get in on the 169.99 Daxter bundle. I really don't need another memory card but I don't have the game yet... Grrr.

I just got one at CC with PM at $166.99+tax. Sweeeeeeet.... They were all scratching their heads as to why Sony would do this, but alas, gave me the price anyway and kept my printout. Good luck, this is an awesome deal.

:hot:

Well, no luck at any Gamestops around here, and I really want to play the one I got at Target last night. I might open it and return the Gamestop one ar Target when they get them.

I'm not even bothering with the $30 misprint at Target. They wouldn't do it, and I don't think BB or CC even has them here.

Too bad Dark Alex quit. Well, it wasn't his fault, more the fault of all his fanboys that constantly put his personal info out there. All but the home address for Sony to mail the subpoena.

I'm thinking of trying that M33 firmware on my normal PSP. Then maybe I'll get this in a few years when it's cheap as hell and upgrade the Slim to official firmwares. The old PSP for tinkering, the new one for "legit" stuff.

i haven't follow the PSP news for like 2 years now, and planning to get an import as well since it has better color selection....
so any cons for getting an import psp other than it can't play a US UMD ? (no region lock for games rite? )

Anyone spot a black slim PSP in stores yet? I still don't see it listed on Besy Buy or GS/EB websites. =\ I ordered from Amazon but I would rather just pick one up in a store..

Couldn't get the PM @ Walmart, but no biggie...just glad to have it earlier than expected. Unfortunately, the black core version and the component cables were nowhere to be found . Found an FYE with 1 daxter bundle remaining in Chicago southside, so throw me a PM if someone wants the locale.

Time to work up a list of PSP games to grab @ CC next week during the crazy B1G1 50% off promo. Any suggestions?

BTW, here's Part 3 Summary of the Q&A session on the PSP-2000 presented by PSPFanboy:

1. Component cables for TV connection are not included; it will cost roughly $20 separately.
2. The UMDs in the Daxter & Star Wars Bundles are packed in cardboard sleeves and marked "not for resale".
3. Battery charge time will be the same as the phat PSP.
4. The silver version seems to have improved coating, so fingerprints won't stick as easily. However, the LCD screen is a dust/smudge magnet like before.
5. The PSP-2000 slim will shake loosely inside the old Logitech case.
6. Old Sony earbuds are not compatible with PSP-2000 slim.

Here's a picture I took of the one I grabbed at Target last night, in an attempt to provide another source for those wondering what the exact color of the silver one is.

I can't tell you how it compares to the old PSP since this is my first, but I

I bought the Daxter pack today at the local BB. Then I checked out TRU and grabbed Lumines 2, Killzone: Liberation, and the Godfather on clearance. I am excited to play Lumines II.

It will be interesting to see what the homebrew community comes up with; the article mentioned that the authors now have access to double the memory. That, combined with the TV-Out function, would make for some excellent programs, especially in the emulator department. Think about it: a "Virtual Console" that you can take anywhere.

How do I access the demo's? I'm downloading them to my computer first because it's much quicker. Then I'm going to dump it on the memory stick. Do I unzip the folder than place the folder on the MS or do I take the files out and drop them in the MS?

The silver one looks pretty slick.

I really have no interest in Daxter or the Family Guy UMD so maybe I'll nab a Japanese one.

I was considering getting the FFVII one, but I know I'd never want to play it for fear of scratching it up.

I have $230 in credit at GS to burn and its getting very tempting. I don't get to tackle my short stack of PSP games unless my bro is in town. I must have a white one though, all my electronics have the white i-look.

Went to two TRU's today looking for some clearance but they had absolute crap :(

Now I can't decide between the silver Daxter pack for $199 or the slim black one and a 4 GB memory card for about $210. I'll probably have to see the silver one for myself to decide.

I finally ended up preordering the sliver one from Amazon. I'd still rather have a different color, and already have Daxter, but I'd rather have silver than black, I guess.

I think now it says I'll have it on the 11th. Good timing as I'm down to my last Playstation 2, and last DS (actually GBA) game.

That's strange, since if I press harder it doesn't make the noise.

I hope they release another Playgear Pocket thing, I want to keep it in that so the screen stays safe (using the Katamari case for now, pictured somewhat).
So the original Playgear Pocket is too big, right? Are there any other hard-shelled cases that anyone can recommend?
Nothing has been released for the slim as of yet....at least here in the US. Give it a month or two.

Ugh, did anyone else notice the release date on Amazon changed to the 24th for the piano black core pack? :( My order still says delivery estimate: sept 11th, but I assume that will be updated soon to sept 25. >.< No stores seem to know when the hell they're getting the black ones in, this is very frustrating..
