Rainbow Six: Vegas - Gen. Discussion & Info
In Co-op there are only 2 modes, story co-op and terrorist hunt. Is there any way to turn on respawns on Terrorist Hunt? My friend that was playing had never played and RS6 before and was getting killed right off the bat.

Secondly, I figured out that on live games that you can play games with respawns but I couldn't get a guest to sign into live. Can you have guests with you in live games like you can in GRAW?

Also, I've yet to play a system linked game but when you do can you play games aside from Terrorist Hunt and Story Coop?

Thanks, and any fun game types/maps that guys wanna recommend will be appreciated.
From my experience, I don't think you can actually have respawns when you're playing Co-op T-Hunt (it'd be way too easy otherwise). In addition, I don't think you can have a guest while you play on Live either. I've had the game since launch (though I've never tried it myself), and I have never seen another player marked as a "guest." As for your last question, Co-op Story and T-Hunt are the only co-op modes in the game (unless I'm missing something).

For recommendations, most people just play Attack and Defend on Calypso Casino (20 min, unlimited respawns) just to gain EXP and rank up. If you want to do it that way, you have to be on the Assault Team and capture the briefcase when there are 10-20 seonds left in the game. If you do win (depending on how many kills your team has) you'll get an average of 1200 EXP per game. However, if you lose, you'll only get about 200-300 EXP. Calypso Casino is a good map for starters though. Personally, Kill House is one of my favorites, but not too many people play that map. Overall the maps are decent, but some maps have huge problems where respawn points are located. Also, be advised that the host will indeed have an advantage during online play.

I haven't played the game in quite a while, mainly because lots of CAGs didn't have it yet. Hopefully we can get some games going on now though. Send me a friend request if you've just got it recently. I'd be happy to help out on any of the co-op modes, and stuff like that.

I'd definitely like to start getting some organized games together. I'll send you a friend request later tonight.

Does anyone know if you can edit the 3-letter prefix that comes before your name? After I ran the PEC the first time I couldn't seem to edit anything, maybe I'll just have to start over.
Does anyone know if you can edit the 3-letter prefix that comes before your name? After I ran the PEC the first time I couldn't seem to edit anything, maybe I'll just have to start over.
You should be able to. Just go down to the last option in the PEC (I think it's marked as "Service Record"), and you should see two options: "change appearance" or "change three letter prefix." I know for a fact that you can change your appearance/prefixes without losing any EXP you have gained through playing.

Does 2-player split-screen always default to widescreen view (left and right instead of traditional up and down)? If so, that's just wrong for poor people like me whom are stuck with 20" SDTV.

And for system link, can you play versus? I rented it a few weeks ago and I swear I could not find a local (same console) versus mode between two people. Am I able to do system link versus mode? I did not have the manual or much time to explore the game.

That would determine whether I buy it or not because I'm trying to get a friend to buy it as well. XBL would fill that multiplayer void, but I already have GoW, which I still play to death every night. That's $60 saved for me, that's like 5 packs of pork chops!, if there is not an offline versus mode.

always vertical.

as for system link i think its just coop and terroris hunt but Im not sure.

I tried to play 3 player coop with my brothers but it would only allow one person per system. so disappointed. Maybe next next gen someone can pull this off.

Ya the system link is weak. I had a 3 friends come over and play and they brought one of their systems. We thought you could play 2 people per system, but we were wrong. Only one player per system. Then we tried to get on to Xbox live, we could play co-op on one console with 2 people, BUT we couldn't play with the other 2 guys. It wouldn't let us join any other match, it was pretty annonying. So we just played 4 player co-op on GRAW all day. I don't understand why they couldn't do the 4 player co-op on rainbow six if they could do it on GRAW. Hell I'll take a graphix downgrade if 4 of us can play it.... I wish they would spend more time with the system link and co-op modes, Xbox live is alot of fun, but nothing beats having all your buddy's in the same room yelling 'GRENADE!!!'

Got this for Xmas and completed the campaign just last night. I look forward to playing more on live, since I played a lot of Black Arrow a few years back.

Yes! Finally, 2 days of looking for this game for $39.99 and I finally have it! I feel stupid for not buying it at $39.99 when I saw it at CC and when the coupon didn't work. About to play it, anybody wanna help me rank up?

I didn't really care for the demo, has the final release changed much? (Don't get me wrong it looks like a good game but it just wasn't for me)

It runs a lot smoother than the demo. Other than that, it's the same.

I love this game. I don't know which cover system I like more, this or Gears of War. Both are great and built around each for gameplay. I just finished the first mission and am now in Vegas. It also reminds me of Ghost Recon and that is a good thing. I am going to do a marathon of games tomorrow while i do laundry and enjoy my last day of freedom for awhile.

Alright, I pulled down the demo for R6:Vegas yesterday and DAMN did it surpass my expectations. I'm going to head down to BB tonight and pick it up since it's within my "cheap ass price range" this week.

For those who have it, I'm thinking that co-op would be pretty sweet. Let me know if any of you would be up for hoping in a co-op game and I'll add you to my list (or me to yours) to hook up sometime.

Man Vegas is such an awesome game. They got me the same way as you, with the damn demo. After playing the shit out of the demo I felt I had to buy the game just for more maps. Anyway, hit me up, Id be down for some Coop action.

Hysterical.

I actually don't like authority.

Secondly, there's already a Vegas thread, cock.

Here's a bit of a problem I've run into with my copy of Vegas ... I've been playing on Realistic Difficulty and am
At the Dante's Theatre level where you have to hack a computer and cripple the terrorists communication
Anywho ... I completed the objective mentioned in the spoiler tags ... and went the wrong way. So now I'm apparently gonna have to erase my game save and start over again because it's stuck on this particular section of the game.

fuck me ... I don't know why I did it.

That sucks, something happened to me with PoP:Warrior Within towards the end. I ended up in some type of loop where I couldn't get to the correct exit and have never gone back to that game.

Can you restart the level or last checkpoint?

Warning: If you are playing campaign on realistic and play co-op it will change your campaign game back to normal.....Lots of people have been screwed by this. I am not sure if it happens when you play realistic or normal or both on co-op

I am not sure if it happens when you play realistic or normal or both on co-op
If you plan on getting the Realistic difficulty achievement, I'd suggest you play on Realistic your first time through (since it unlocks the Normal difficulty achievement as well). From my experience, just make sure the Co-op game you join is set in the Realistic difficulty mode. You'll have no problems whatsoever as long as you keep the difficulty the same in all your games.

Yeah, I don't think yo ucan really go the "wrong way". I don;t remember the part exactly, but is it where you are in the theatre-like room? If so, I THINK the exit is on the lower left side, if you are standing on the stage facing the chairs.

Wouldn't surprise me if that was it. I know I was wondering around going "fuck, somebody shoot at me so I know where to go!"

Haha, there were definitley times when I did something like that, only I;d randomly shoot in the air and listen for the voices of the terrorists.

I just finished the first casino and it was fun. I am at the next spot and swamped with terrorists. I also got flash banged for the first time and man did that eff me up. I will play more later.

If anyone wants to play any of the co-op modes sometime, feel free to add me. I'd like to get them all finished eventually. Either difficulty is fine with me.

I hope they fix the bug where when someones firing and they lag out or whatever you can consantly hear their gun going off. So annoying.

putting your face in the game is harder than it should be. I was having massive lighting problems as I tried doing it around midnight last night, but I turned all the lights on in the room. One side of my face was all dark and looked like it had mildew growing on my cheek. Having a shaggy haircut didn't help either as my hair was all whack.

It got my sideburns in suprisingly, but the goatee didn't scan in. Not sure if it is capable of it or not though.
It sucks having hair when you're making your face because it turns it into a combover for your character.
I just put a helmet on.

For the best results, you need to use natural sunlight (around noon or later). Artificial sunlight (lamps) makes your skin off color, and most of the time it's way too bright. Just position the camera so that a window (where the sunlight illuminates) is behind it, and you should be able to get an accurate picture with ease.

My hair looks pretty bad but I did what the guy above me did and wear a helmet. I am wondering what girls (do any play this game) hair looks like if it is really long-it probably looks awful. My mustache came out really well though...

I hate that so much. What I've been doing to fix that is just joining smaller games (8-12) with mostly green ping. Just a better overall experience as well.

I noticed they changed the Terrorist Hunt XP... does that mean they lowered the 600 points you get from eliminating the 25 terrorists in LVU on Realistic/high density? Cuz... that would kinda suck for us experience whores.

Not unless they did that this morning. I did about 15 runs through LVU yesterday, 600xp per.

Hi, just got the game and what wondering, do I need to log online to create a character? I don't see the option for it and I dont have xbox live gold.

Thanks.

Went down to BB on Saturday and both stores were sold out. The first store said they couldn't give me a raincheck ... I said "so you're telling me that both stores have none and there's no way to honor this price"? The lady said "yup, we can't give rainchecks on it".

I went to the second store and the guy was really cool about it saying they had a copy that morning but it's gone. He thought they should be restocked this week the gave me a raincheck for it.

I'm hoping I can get it sometime before the weekend.
Yes. You can only use your custom character when you play over Live.
I know that you can play your custom guy on single player T-Hunt. But as far as the single player I don't think you can use one.

I completely forgot about the single player T-hunt. Maybe split-screen co-op lets you use your custom character as well? I've never tried split screen so I wouldn't know.

As in, he hasn't made one, so he couldn't use one, but it might be possible for another Gold account to make a character and use it offline.

Just got this game yesterday.

One Q: If I beat this game on realistic difficulty in SP, will I earn the achivement for beating it in normal as well? I'm beating the game co-op with my Wife first, so I hope I don't have to beat the game three times, rather twice.

Also are there clans put in? (too lazy to look into it myself)

Peace.

It's so strange that MS didn't put clan support into the default XBL API... making devs jump through hoops to create their own clan function means we end up with "edit your prefix" as a "feature".

Meh.

At least this way I'm not tempted to encourage a CAG clan. Much.

Man and I thought COD2 Veteran was tough. The Realstic mode by yourself is pretty brutal when your team mates aren't there, and even then when you peek your head out for 2 seconds your done. Can't wait to beat the game on Realstic to wear the achivement badge proudly.
