The Reduced Price Guide FAQ/OP has been moved to the SECOND post.

Below is SIX MONTHS or so(counting January 2010) of guide drop info. If you want to see the full list, please refer to the second post of the Reduced Price Guide Thread X that can be found HERE .

CE/SE/LE=HARDCOVER GUIDE

Nope. It's no more consistent than anything else.

For example, I had exactly the opposite experience. I've never used in-store pickup before and have almost always run into pre-pulls at the local stores. This time I did pickup at two locations and one was a goldmine (multiples of all but 3 or so guides) while the other had most of the list. This was hours after opening. So the pickup raised no flags whatsoever.

I can certainly see where it might add to the risk, though.
 
So I hit 4 stores yesterday. 3 had pulled all of their guides, the 4th had this sign up:

All of the guides had $0.01 stickers as well. It seems weird that the one store would take the time to re-price each one rather than just pulling them, but I am not complaining.
 
One store I went to pulled them all and stacked them at registers to make it easier for people. They also had a cart filled with around 100 ODST guides that no one wanted. I took a picture for laughs.

Yesterday I order two guides for store pick up, front mission evolved and sly cooper collection.
After receiving my confirmation email I go to my bestbuy...

They did not have my order ready, like they did not know about it, so they find a front mission book, and aparently since they could not find a sly cooper book, they put sly cooper collection ps3 GAME to complete my order.

I told the lady of the error and after waiting for like 15 mins they tell me they are keeping a sly cooper book at another nearby bestbuy so I only took front mission evolved from this bestbuy and went to the other bestbuy and picked up my sly cooper book and a few others there.

Thank you. I know I've been way over the top in some of my responses in times past. But I just realized(after a not so gentle nudging and warning that my future here was in jeopardy) that people will do what they're going to do regardless of how you respond. If you notice I no longer answer the redundant questions and let others do it now.

Prepare for a lot of crying then, since people would be complaining why did my post get deleted often. As long as the mods continue to delete offending posts, such as the trade requests, then I'm fine with them policing this thread. Besides which, I might go all Napoleon on 'offending' posts.:evil:

That happened when the one corporate rep for TRU asked Cheapy to have official removed from the title of that thread. The Sears one is kinda DOA right now, though I believe SHC-Gamer is supposed to post a new list of clearance stuff soon, but I don't think that one is being updated right now. And the Kmart one is self explanatory, since all Kmart deals are in the SHC-Gamer run thread now.

Wow my best buy still hasn't pulled anything. I'm probabaly gonna head back tmrw :p. And I almost got the brawl guide but UPC sticker was missing so no go :(
 
Starting to get bad news on the in-store pickups. Two stores just said it's not there, and then despite getting order ready on a few (Scribs, MoH LE, Goldeneye) from a store, they actually called me to inform me that it was incorrect and they do not in fact have those. Seems fishy to me, but whatever.

I just got more emails from the last store I did in-store on for SMG2 CE, Spidey, and Sly...but I'm waiting a little bit in case they also call me to tell me no.

Yeah the $$$gy mods who have no life except to feel powerful by policing people on the internet from their parent's basement as virgins can't understand a person like you has spent years helping others like me get game guides for cheap. I think you should leave this thread and let someone else put up with their nazi greater than thou attitude. I thank you again IATCAG for all the years you've been doing this. Be yourself man!!

I can't take the credit for breakage, since I was just going to leave it as it was. Can't tell who did since the first page is a goner along with its 1000 deleted posts or whatever is there.
 
Found about 5 Brutal Legend guides at Target, self scan said something akin to not in system, asked a clerk to check the price, $24.99. Really? Ugh.

FYI the 12 oaks novi MI location has quite a few guides left from the drop as of 1240 pm. I saw Enslaved, super scribble, LP2, FME none of the LE guides left though.
 
Does anyone have the SKU for the Fallout 3 CE and Fallout 3 GOTY CE?

Sadly the regular Fallout 3 GOTY isn't not pennied out yet or is it?
 
Damn... I know one store here had about 15 of those. I went Monday and clearly they had all been pulled. Luckily I was able to find ONE ODST guide at another store that must have gotten overlooked. My son is really into Halo stuff now so that was actually one of my best penny guide purchases in a while.

I almost bought one for $4.99 the other day too but I thought I'd wait to see what the next drop held ;).

Didn't realize I'd break the thread with all the deleted posts. Sent John an email asking him to figure out why it's broken.

I was trying to clean out any posts 2010 and earlier, save the OP, and call that the cleanup. Well, that was the theory, at least. :wall:
 
The Bridgeton, MO Best Buy still has quite a few of the recent drops including 3 SMG 2 LEs as well as 2 Dead Rising 2 LEs. Picked up 6 guides and almost felt guilty about it. Gonna check Brentwood in a bit.
 
All guides pulled at both Shady Grove, MD and Germantown, Md stores.

Yesterday, Shady Grove store bad like over 20 Halo ODST, 10 RE5, 8 Zelda, etc. What a waste of sealed guides by just throwing it away.

LOL. I found 2 MoH LE guides and took it to the cashier. when i was about to leave, lp stop me and look at the receipt. he then look at my bag and look at the receipt again. he was shocked and asked who the cash that ring me up. he then jump on Register to see the scan price. Yup. It scan a penny.
His jaw drop and I left. He seems pissed and was thinking that someone alter the price. Guess someone forgot to pull these :roll:

Note: I'm willing to trade. send a PM list. And yes, I'm willing to send many guides from my list to even out the trade of my wants....

Don't feel guilty. This was my first. I left Sly and like 8 MoH LE along with some other guides cause I wasnt interested in it. I didnt want to be greedy and wanted other CAG to get the same chance I had of getting the guides. In the end, they pulled it and feel bad. Lesson learn, take whatever cause u never know who wants to trade.
 
Anyone near Collegeville, the Best Buy has guides on a table up front with a sign "Game Guides for a Penny!" Quite a few Zelda Spirit Tracks and Lost Planet 2s left, plus some ODSTs.

Normally, they're a good one to do pre-pulls of guide drops, so I'm more than a little surprised to heard they have any guides out.
 
Managed to find almost all of my guide wants (plus a couple extra for trade) at one store (all the others near me were pre-pulled/raided). Really wanted the LEGO Universe guide, but missed out. I too, feel bad when I do a big haul from a single store, but after all the empty shelves I saw today, it was like a rainbow on a cloudy day finally finding (most) of the ones I wanted! :D

I'm glad you guys were mentioning the guide thread! I need to update/redo mine as well! So, is the current one going to be fixed, or will we just start a new one? :)

I'm tempted to ask where x guide went because I was waiting for a paycheck and they had a ton last week. Does anyone know if they throw them out asap when they pull them or do they stay in back for a while?

It depends. People like to collect guides to go with their game collection. Sure, u can trade/sell, but only make a small profit after shipping cost. I don't think it's worth it. Collect the guides u want by trading. by the way, good picks

I only took one of each guide that I bought so I meant I felt a bit guilty because it almost felt like I was scamming Best Buy...lol.

Anyway, the Brentwood, MO store didn't have any of the drops. Might head back to Bridgeton later and see if I can get a few more. Didn't want to draw too much attention by bringing up more than 6 the first time.

Yeah, they had at least one of almost everything on the list. Really wanted the FFXIII LE guide but that was one of the few they didn't have.
 
Alright. Apparently the one manager at the further BB from me knows me to see me and now they're cracking down super hard at that store.

I went in to check the store today. They had apparently pulled most stuff, but left behind a bunch of guides from one of the old drops. But I did find 2 Super Scribblenauts, 1 Zelda: Spirit Tracks and one opened Goldeneye guide from this drop.

So I asked the one employee from the media section if they would honor the price I saw on the website yesterday for them. He said they would. We go up to the register to ring them up and I guess this lady manager was barking in his ear to not complete the transaction till she got there.

So she says to me 'you know we're not supposed to sell these' but you try every time and it seems like you wait until I'm not here to try for them. But she said her guys know not to sell them or so she says. Apparently not too well cuz I still find them after the drop most times.

So then I found out the guy I was talking to was a media manager himself, so I joked with him that I guess I was going to have to wait till both of them weren't around to try for them next time.:lol:

He then talked about having them snap a pic of me before I left n banning me from the store.:whistle2:# Yeah. I guess I was THAT much of a jerk in times past.

But they both gave me assurances that I'm not banned, though I guess this store is off limits for guides anymore now too. I REALLY miss going to Syracuse(NY) area now, where the employees didn't bat an eye at ringing up 3-4 bags full of guides from 2-4 drops that they had languishing on the shelves for 6 months after the drops.

I just wish when BB said they're 'sending guides back to get credit' they actually were and not just junking them in the compactor. What a fuckin' waste.:roll:
 
I'm most definitely up for sharing some stuff. I left alot of stuff behind. I felt that by last night everyone would have scrambled for what they wanted considering it was Pres day. So I picked up alot of this stuff today.

So they never send them back for credit? I'm new to all this so after reading the OP I assumed they did so that's why I felt a bit guilty.
 
I doubt they pay to send all that product back when it's just easier to show the guide companies that they removed X amount from their system and then dumpster them like GS does.

EDIT: Nevermind. It appears that Shrike added it in. But I'll go in and remove the link for the old one in a bit.

I'm near there. Remember seeing any Castlevaniz: LoS guides?
 
I think te BB around me are cracking down too. I have been to 5 so far and 2 I always do well at and looks like the prepulled or someone from Slickedeals swooped in. Only Got 007 Goldeye and Mario Galaxy 2 so far.
