Yeah, again it doesn't make a huge difference.
But I love running into minor characters and seeing what's happened to them as a result of how I dealt with them in the last game, having Wrex in the game or not etc.
It gives a sense that what you're doing is having some impact. Vs. most series of games that stand alone and sidequests are nothing but a bore done to get EXP, money and loot and never to think of them again.
It's nothing mind blowing, but it's a nice little touch and is part of what is making Mass Effect my all time favorite game series. I play it for the story and dialogue primarily, so I get a lot out of having decisions from the first game referenced in this one. I don't need it to have huge impacts on the plot, or opening up different sidequests personally. Some of that could cool, but really love the little touches of running into minor characters, having decisions on which characters survive etc. continue through the series.
See, you get it. It's a nice touch. It's neat. But I'm pretty sure (just like the load message says for ME2 imports to ME3) that the changes were supposed to be more than cosmetic changes. Running into
on Horizon doesn't seem like any sort of impact... but I think they were afraid that there would be a huge backlash if certain things in the game were only available to players who (1) played ME, making certain decisions and then (2) imported that character... doing anything other than what they did would hurt sales, I'd wager... and that's not a good thing for anyone.
They say in the load screens your actions in ME2 could have dire consequences in ME3. Do I believe it? Not at this point. Did I take the cautious route anyway? Yup.
