Also, Now and Then, Here and There is really cheap so I have doubts of the quality of the packaging.
I don't know about this new packaging, but I've never had complaints about ADV's packaging. The original Now and There, Here and There set is amazingly beautiful, though, and I especially loved the sunset art on the back of the dvd cases, where it got progressively darker for each volume.
FAIL. And you passed on Azumanga Daioh, Now and Then, Here and There, *and* Princess Tutu? QUADRUPLE FAIL. I don't think I've ever been this disappointed in all my life...
Haha, it's not like I said I was passing for forever or something. I am just passing on these stack pack collections. I am going to try and get the singles and the art box—if there is one—for each of those series.
I don't know about this new packaging, but I've never had complaints about ADV's packaging.
I am just basing my assumption on the fact that the new Azumanga Daioh and Princess Tutu collections are stack packs, which are both from ADV.

Murder Princess... I was so excited for that when it came out, but it only got worse and worse. Monster Princess though...

I just noticed your sig changes if you wait long enough, that's AWESOME.

Murder Princess? Monster Princess? Princess Resurrection? Uh.....i've never heard of any of them .

Murder Princess is some shitty OVA series about a girl and another girl who switch bodies through MAGIC and they're fairly hot so you think there's gonna be some worthwhile lesbian action going on, but there never is any and by the end you feel like someone kicked you square in the nuts because JESUS CHRIST there were so many opportunities for them to go at it, but nooo~ they had to do some shitty plot with shitty characters in a boring setting and everything's so generic that you feel you'd have been better set just fapping to the OP of Card Captor Sakura cuz at least you know those two chicks are totally going at it.

Monster Princess == Princess Resurrection. It's about some kid who meets up with monsters (werewolves, vampires, etc.). Err... just look the description up on ANN or something. Except for the OP/ED, it has terrible production values. But you know what? It's fun to watch because the characters are enjoyable. Better than the majority of what I've seen for that simple reason.

Thanks, but neither of them looks worth the price.
It's excactly what it looks like. You use a webcam and plastic props/cards to "interact" with a virtual maid girl. I think it's just a liiiitle bit on the creepy side.
How much are the cards? And where could people possibly buy them? And why?

Don't worry, i don't even own a webcam ;).
How much are the cards? And where could people possibly buy them? And why?
The basic idea is, you get the program, the webcam recognizes the patterns on the cube/wand/cards and the programs responds accordingly.

I know there are people who've gotten ahold of the program through 'certain means', and just printed off and made the other parts out of paper (the pattern's the big deal.)

It's called 'Cyber Maid Alice' as I remember. And it's still creepy.

I emailed customer service to add:

-Case Closed Vol. 4.4 - $5
-Case Closed Vol. 4.5 - $5

to my order to complete season 4 for me. (What can I say, it was the first anime I got into, haha.)

Also, I'm looking to get the individual volumes + art box for Wolf's Rain. Anyone have an idea of the cheapest way to get these?

There's a new sale going on. It's for 33% off retail of DrMaster print stuffs. I never even heard of them before, but they do SNK stuff (SVC Chaos, King of Fighters), RahXaphon, Please Teacher/Twins, Tsukihime, and some other stuff. "glassmoon" is the code, and it ends June 3rd.

Figures that they put the new sale up AFTER I go to work. I checked it around 12:30 - 1pm hoping to get ahead and update the OP before work , but obviously it wasn't meant to be. :( In any case the OP has now been updated.

I've heard of DrMaster before but I'm not extremely familiar with their catalog of titles.

No new sale today?

Also, the Weekly Specials were updated, but it looks liek the only things even decent were both Black Lagoon seasons for $30, and Hunter x Hunter Season 1 for $24.99. =/
How is Black Lagoon? I've been curious about it, but should I wait for a lower price point on this one?
$60 for the series is a little rough, but i thought it was amazing. I wrote about it in a couple of my blogs, so you can look at that, i'm too lazy to go copy-paste some quotes in :).

Also, looks like i was wrong. Save at least 33% off All Titles From Yen Press Until June 11 (Code = yensave).
How is Black Lagoon? I've been curious about it, but should I wait for a lower price point on this one?
Hated it, though I'm in the minority on that one. Seriously, it's every bad anime stereotype thrown into one show, with monstrously unlikable characters, and an unremarkable, meandering plot.

Saiyuki (Complete, thinpak) for $29.99.
http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827/catalogmgr/vn1oujFhxuHtoxVS=F/browse/item/71256/4/153/200

Slayers seasons 1-3 $17.99 each.

Princess Mononoke is also $15.99 (not much of a discount, but better than most places.)

Case Closed Season 1 - $19.00

^Very tempting... I found this randomly (not advertised in the sale). I might pass though since I already have season 4, and it would just be more of the same.

Black Lagoon. On my top ten (infinitely superior to all other top tens FYI) it ranks at #3.

Yeah, watch it. Its action could turn reptiles hot-blooded. Guaranteed.

I liked Black Lagoon, but I found myself screaming at the TV a little too often. They stand around chatting during fight scenes when enemies are right around the corner, and some of the conversations would drag on too long when blunt answers would serve best. The most frustrating scene for me would be any time two characters (usually Revy and someone) would face off for inordinate amounts of time with guns pointed at each other and exchanging taunting remarks.

Superior in a competition of shitty top tens, perhaps. :D

It's cool.

It isn't the next Cowboy Bebop as some people have made it out to be, but it shares some elements of Bebop. The second season has one of the more unsettling stories I have seen though. It's definitely worth viewing.

Aside from the show content, the steel cases for both seasons are VERY cool IMO.

Thanks for the impressions on Black Lagoon, everyone. Even though I want to pick it up (I don't mind stereotypical anime characters now and again unless they're not even written well), I feel like I should wait. I still have boxes of RightStuf goodies I haven't even touched yet, so I think I should get to watching before buying too much more.

Is there any risk of not being able to get the Steelbook down the line? That would influence my purchase since I'm such a whore for those. Not to mention, the Second Barrage cover is sexy as hell.

I got the shipping notice this morning too! Two and a half weeks early, but I'm not complaining!

Damn, i wanted to be the first one to say how awesome this was. Oh well, no reason to complain :).

Also, the Death Note Volumes are on sale for $13 each, or $20 each with the figure. I have Box Set 1 + Vol. 6-9, anyone think it's worth it to buy volumes 1-5 and sell the box set? It looks sorta ugly right now, and i like being a perfectionist :).

Also, the R.O.D. OVA is $11, worth it?
yes!!
Three yes' in a row, okay then.....

No answer on Death Note =/

Also, my local BB has tow copies of Kanon 5 Sealed, so i'm going to pick them up tomorrow. If anyone needs one, PM me about it and we can talk. Otherwise, they're going to eBay. I thought someone wanted one, but now he doesn't, so i have two copies to sell.

I'm still waiting on my Del Rey sale stuff to ship. I got 1-6 of Shugo Chara and the last 3 volumes of Tsubasa, 19-21, I think.

I also ordered the latest volumes of Flame of Recca, Lovely Complex and We were There.

Updated the OP.

A suggestion for anyone who's interested in these titles that are on sale:
Bamboo Blade
Higurashi : When they Cry
Maximum Ride
Nabari no Ou
Nightschool
Soul Eater
Sumomomo Momomo

I make the suggestion to check out the Yen Plus Anthology magazine. It's similar to Shonen Jump or Shojo Beat , except with the above Yen Press titles. With the Yen Plus books being on sale as well , it makes it a comparatively cheap way to check out several different stories (only thing cheaper being of course to check out scanlations).

Just finished watching Fruits Basket (anime). It was great and definitely had some touching moments. If I had to give it a rating, I'd say 8/10. I'm thinking of reading the manga just to find out what happens next, starting where the anime left off. Or is it worth it to read it from the beginning?

The one thing I found weird about it though was that
almost all the guys looked like girls, and most of them dressed up in girls clothing at least once.
Is that just a shoujo thing or what, haha?

All the Suzuka DVDs just went on sale today for $3 each and the thinpak for $19. I loved this show! Preview the first few eps on ANN if you want to check it out before you buy.

So how good is Get Backers? I'm tempted by FMP and Elfen Lied, but kinda turned off by the packaging for both of those (stackpacks).

^^What do you mean by stackpack? I have the FMP TSR set, and if the packaging of the Heavy Metal Collection is anything like it, then there's nothing wrong with it.

As for Get Backers, I loved season one. Ordered the singles for season 2 a while back since they were $3 each since the box was $20, but I haven't got to watching them yet.

Stackpack is like what the use for computer games. All the discs are stacked directly on one another--kind of like a mini cake box (that blank CD-Rs/DVD-Rs come in). I guess it's really fine as long as you get the content, but sometimes I just like regular packaging.

Stackpaks are just like the name implies, 5-6 discs stacked right on top of each other...worse idea ever:whistle2:x

Edit: And PrarieD0G beats me to the answer

Ahhh... then yeah, I'm pretty sure the Heavy Metal Collection is packaged like The Second Raid collection, and it's not a stackpack.

Amazon Review for FMP: Heavy Metal Collection [excerpt]
It isn't often I give 4 starts, in fact I don't think I have ever, but there was one thing that killed me with this. From the outside the case is nice, it is a simple 27mm 6 disc case. On the inside, it is 1 awful spindle that stacks the discs on top of each other. One of my biggest pet peeves is stacking discs. I hate it so much, I am actually ordering a second copy of Cowboy Bebop just to switch the cases, then pawn Cowboy Bebop for a few dollars but what a waste. Fortunately, most people don't have crazy bad OCD's like me.

Actually, it doesn't bother me that much. Would you say it's a good deal at $47 though?

It's a good deal but if you're not in a rush to get it I'd hold off until Deep Discount has their biannual sale and you could save a few bucks.
