...still waiting for either a Geneon sale or for Black Lagoon s2 to go on sale...

Anyway, we have a Funi sale going on now. I kinda want to get a DBZ set going so I'm wondering if the Dragon Boxes are worth to get instead of the last season boxes, and if at that price.

If you *must* buy DBZ for some reason, then yes, the Dragon Box sets are the way to go. The older season box sets were cropped to make them faux-widescreen, and the "remastering" the show got was atrocious. Anyways, Amazon had the first Dragon Box as a lightning deal a couple weeks back for ~$28, if I remember correctly. Keep in mind that it's still going to be a large investment, given the length of the show.

Also keep in mind that DBZ sucks. ;)

I liked a few seasons of DBZ. At the same time though, there was a lot of crap episodes, especially in the middle. At the same time though, I absolutely love DragonBall.

I bought the steelbook double pack of the first DBZ movies (Dead Zone and World's Strongest) at Big Lots for $3... that's honestly all the DBZ I care to own. Just enough to remember those very early days of fandom.

Passing on the Funi sale... I already bought Spice and Wolf from the weekly specials, I don't want to spend $50 on Romeo X Juliet (the first couple episodes just didn't really 'grab' me). The only Funi releases I'm at all interested in were only annouced a few days ago- Axis Powers Hetalia and FLCL. I guess I'm waiting for the next Funi sale when those should be up for order.

I'm thinking about getting Ouran on blu-ray, but I'm also a bit hesitant because I kind of want to wait and see whether or not it was transferred over to blu-ray well before biting on it. I'm also considering getting the entire School Rumble collection. Just not 100% sure, though.

I'm mad they rescued FLCL, but not Tenshi ni Narumon. Also this sale is a great time to get Spice and wolf, and the second box set of dragon ball (yes, dragon ball, not the Z variety).

All I want from the sale is Mnemosyne and I guess get that last vol of Baccano I need, though I should probably wait till those singles go to the bargain bin...

Wait wait wait, FLCL is getting a new release?!?

And I'm actually not sure how I feel about the lack of the American music. I never seen a japanese version of the show so I don't knwo if it's just the theme songs they changed or everything.

Yes, FLCL is getting a new release. Apparently the old dub is being retained, if you're into that.

The DragonBoxes default to the original Japanese version of the show (music, dialogue, etc.). There is an English dub on the discs, but it's the secondary option, and uses the original Japanese score, not the "synth-rock" background music that was used in the English broadcast, and has a few instances of redubbing for certain characters.

The video quality of the DragonBoxes are far superior to that of the orange season sets, though.

If you're just wanting to watch the show you saw on TV years ago, I'd go with the orange season sets, honestly. They're flawed in a lot of ways, but they're the only way to go to get the show as you saw it on TV, and they're dirt cheap.

Just ordered:
Got Anime Membership: $12
School Rumble DVD Most Awesomest Collection (Seasons 1-2 + OVA): $54

First time purchasing from this site... very impressed with their pricing and range of anime. Can anyone convince me to pick up Trigun Remix if I already have the original collection?
I THINK the trigun remixed version is in widescreen, and with remixed sound.
Widescreen would have been sweet, but I looked it up and it is fullscreen. From what I've read Trigun Remix has remixed sound and some other little stuff.

$40 is a great price if you haven't seen Trigun before... even having the original collection I'm tempted to pick this up. But I've spent too much on games lately.

I have a feeling rightstuf is going to be a dangerous site for me :)

Thx for the reply Gden
I have a feeling rightstuf is going to be a dangerous site for me :)
It will be, I promise. Your wallet will never be safe again.:lol::lol:

if you already have the older set, I wouldn't get Remix. Unless of course when you watch your current set and think "Wow, the quality sucks! Don't they have anything better?"
It will be, I promise. Your wallet will never be safe again.:lol::lol:
I'm just glad more places don't have the quality Bargain Bin that Right Stuf has, cheap full sets are absolutely addictive. And what Chronos said about Trigun Remix, unless you're crazy about 5.1 audio. Personally I wouldn't have bothered with the Remix if I'd had it already or could've gotten the old versions cheaper.

Speaking of School Rumble, anyone know why School Rumble S2 Part 1 is so much harder to find than S1 or S2 Part 2? It seems so strange that this piece in the middle of the series is so much more rare and expensive than the rest. In addition, the complete second season is also more than double the price of the first season, which just kills me because I only need that first part of S2 to complete it.

Last minute purchases from the funimation sale:
Soul Eater Part 1 DVD - $35.99
Soul Eater Part 2 DVD - $35.99

I hope they apply the Got Anime? membership that I ordered the other day to this purchase. They haven't shipped the membership to me yet because the School Rumble I ordered along with it is on backorder :/

If your confirm email didn't list a discount, you should email Customer Service. Back when I got my GA membership, I was told the 'newmember' code worked on the intial order when it was purchased, but from then on you need your member number. However, they were very cool about adjusting my pre-card arrival order.

They do not use member numbers any longer. The Got Anime membership is tied with the billing address you used in purchasing your membership.

Anyway, I just put in my latest Right Stuf order. I'm quite happy with this purchase. I refrained from buying any of the Funimation stuff that might/will have a Blu-ray release, such as Spice & Wolf, Mnemosyne, Soul Eater, Strike Witches, and some others. If any of those don't have a Blu-ray release, then I can just pick them up during Funimation's next sale or whenever they depreciate. Also, I am taking advantage of some weekly specials.

Latest Right Stuf order:

 • Alien Nine Ultimate Collection + Graphic Novels 1-3
 • Baccano! Complete Series
 • Neon Genesis Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Blu-ray
 • Fullmetal Alchemist Movie: The Conqueror of Shambala Blu-ray
 • Fullmetal Alchemist: Premium OVA Collection
 • Neo Tokyo/New Fist of the North Star Double Pack
 • Special A Collection 2
 • Tears To Tiara Collection 2

Evangelion 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Blu-ray is $19.99 on preorder at Amazon. I didn't even realize it was coming out until you posted, but Amazon looks to have the better price.

I'm glad I sat out this Funi sale. I've been spending way too much money lately, and have barely been watching anything. Plus some stuff on Goozex has finally started to roll in.

Actually, the Evangelion: 1.11 You Are (Not) Alone Blu-ray is cheaper on Right Stuf if you take advantage of the Funimation sale and if you have a Got Anime membership. With both of those discounts the price of the film comes out to $18.89.

Ohhh, I was always under the impression that the Got Anime membership didn't add on to any sales. And I only saw it at $26.xx, but maybe that was before a discount in cart with coupon code? Thankfully for my wallet, it's been a couple months since I've ordered, so I couldn't remember, haha. I'll just stick to Amazon since I get the free shipping from Prime. Glad you ended up getting an even better price then.

The easiest way to tell if something is eligible for the Got Anime membership discount is if it has the "save an additional 10% with Got Anime" picture under the purchase button.

Yeah, you can either check the sale's news article on Right Stuf or go to the checkout screen to see how much of a discount that the sale provides.

The confirm email didn't list the discount, but I sent them an email and they replied that the discount was applied. That means I got both Soul Eater dvd sets for $65 instead of $72 :)

Rightstuf is awesome!

Is the new sets of Magic Knight Rayearth going to be a big improvement? I just got the old sets, and I'm sorta bummed if the quality is going to be much better, but I don't see how given the age. However, it looks to me as if Media Blast used the VHS copies to make the DVD's.

I have the first set preordered at Best Buy. I haven't seen the original DVDs' video quality, but I will let you know how it looks when I receive it in the mail. I could also take some screenshots if that would help you.

Dammit, that's lame.

Yeah, It's been delayed a couple of times now.

That would be great, because I can't seem to find any. I doubt I'll buy it again, since I also got it from BB. However, it is a wonderful series, that I enjoyed, and would upgrade if it's well worth it.

It was nice to see Mokona and Sang Yung (SP?) after seeing them in Tsubasa.

For the new sale, you should know that Future Diary is the best manga ever created. at $5.50 a volume, you have no excuse to not pick it up.

Future Diary looks awesome! Thanks for the recommendation; I'll pick it up when the sale is closer to its end. I need to finish all of the manga that I already own — they have been piling up.

Anyone else have some Tokyopop recommendations?

Oh, I guess it's $7.50 and not $5.50. I did the sale numbers wrong. Sorry 'bout that. Still cheaper than Amazon by a bit if you get it through Rightstuf, though.

Hanako and the Terror of Allegory is going to be must-buy for me as well. Cheaper base price on Rightstuf than Amazon (but I've got Prime trial, so I think I'll get it through them). I really love Sakae Esuno, so I can't resist it. :D

I'm also tempted on Deadman Wonderland.

It's only $6.60 if you have a Got Anime membership.

Does anyone know if Rebirth is any good? I own the first three or so volumes, but I bought those almost seven years ago. I was just wondering if it was worth picking up the rest of the volumes. Hmm, I guess I could re-read the volumes that I own to see if I'm still interested in it.

Does anyone recommend the Moon Phase manga? I loved the anime, so I'm interested in picking up the manga.

Also, Fruits Basket and Kare Kano seem like good choices, too.

Can you guys please get me some amazing deals on Yuyu Hakusho seasons 1,2,3,4,
Dragonball Z seasons 7 and 8,

Dragon Boxes 1 and 2,

and Dragonball seasons 1,2,3.

I just made another order.

Picked up 2 Hentai games (Downhill Night and I'm Gonna Nurse You 2) on the weekly specials I don't own yet. Yes I'm a sick pervert... lol. Actually I wish we could get regular dating sims like Tokimeki Memorial released here. xD

Also grabbed Daphne In The Brilliant Blue Collection 1 for $22.99 and Collection to for $29.99. Got anime took 10% off both of those.

Rightstuf seems to nto split shipments anymore. I have a shipment with available items and pre-orders, and they are reserving everything now. Kind of sucks. During the Xmas sale, they split up multiple orders like that. Just this month, they don't. Oh well. Hope I don't have to wait until March for the final item to be released.

You just missed the 40% off FUNimation sale.

YuYu Hakusho was ~$20 a set, the DragonBoxes were ~$36 each, and the blue bricks of DragonBall were ~$30 each.

I see them in the "weekly specials" from time to time, so you might still be able to find them around that price.
Can you guys please get me some amazing deals on Yuyu Hakusho seasons 1,2,3,4
I picked up Yu Yu Hakusho from BB in store for $25 a set with no sale or coupons.

I had watched the entire show when it first aired on tv years ago. At first I only bought the first set, but once I finished it I was hooked again and went out and bought the rest of the sets.

I prefer the name visual novels, however, those two games appear to have questionable quality — the latter more so than the former. I have been extremely interested in purchasing Yume Miru Kusuri, but I already have a ton of video games, visual novels, manga, and anime that I have yet to finish, so I have been waiting until I can reduce that pile down to something that isn't so outrageous before purchasing any more visual novels.

Since Right Stuf has failed to provide me with a Geneon sale, i bought black lagoon season 2 for $20 from gamestop... of all places. I am now a very happy camper.
Since Right Stuf has failed to provide me with a Geneon sale, i bought black lagoon season 2 for $20 from gamestop... of all places. I am now a very happy camper.
I doubt we'll find a better price on it for quite a while.

Ha, now I can get that last Baccano single now that it's in the bargain bin, along with Welcome to the NHK and Golden Boy to get free shipping. Now I REALLY gotta stop...:headache: This should have my fill of DVDs for a few months.

Just so everyone knows, Wal-Mart apparently has a complete collection of Moribito out for $29.95. WMMV on finding it, though, and it is a stackpak.

I'm thinking about getting it, provided I can get a proper replacement case. I have no interest in keeping a stack-pak.

Some good Tokyopop manga series to get are Fate Stay Night, Trinity Blood, and Jyu-Oh-Sei. Sorcerer Hunters is another series to get if you like older series.
