Oooh thanks for the list of downloadable albums. Looks like HMX will be getting a lot more money from me soon!

I've been asking for more RHCP and Foo Fighters along with No Doubt. And this ND collection will probably be greater than that GH3 DLC pack. Glad I held out to see what they'd do for RB. I'm SUPER excited now!!!
Where do you see this? I don't see it announced at the Rock Band forums. :whistle2:k
Joystiq had it posted this morning.

That 'Harmonix 20' I posted a while back appears to be bogus. Some dude is claiming he made it up. So take it as you will.

That Locksley pack...sucks.

At least from what I heard on some youtube videos at joystiq. I didn't even know they were out until a few hours ago. Why aren't they in the music store on the game?!?!

If any of you guys have the Pixies pack and want the Flawless Singing achievement, try singing Debaser. I am godawful at singing(can't even pass Maps on easy) but I got it on my first try since it's a generous talkie with no pitch control involved.

Good to know. I can't seem to get Sabotage down...

I'm a pretty good singer but I always have the most problems with the talk-heavy ones. I must be doing something wrong.

I still can't believe that Rock Band 2 comes out in under two weeks.. I hope it doesn't get pushed back.. there hasn't been much hype for it at all, it's kinda weird

stoked for RB2. We've got some things to figure out, though. Not really a huge fan of the idea of getting a new SE set, but my Les Paul is having tons of sensitivity issues and we just demolished our already-reinforced foot pedal playing Don't Fear the Reaper on expert. We're also considering the Ion drumset, although that's fuckin expensive.

Choices, choices.

I've been playing the band mode whatever it's called. And it says that I need more stars to get into the Hall of Fame. Can anyone tell me how many stars I need? I have 366 right now.

I was going to download the PAX pack but I listened to the previews and.....GAK!

It's not enough to namecheck Cthulhu , the actual music has to be cool.
Don't even need to comment on the other two.

Wow, promised Moving Pictures and instead we get two weeks of suck ;)
At least RB2 is coming out in less than two weeks.

Picked up the PAX pack. The songs aren't the best, but it's only $1 each and the proceeds are going to Child's Play, so you really can't go wrong here.

There's a title update available now. Also info on what songs won't transfer to RB2:

Hey all,

So there is a 360 title update coming out for Rock Band today, PS3 will follow and we'll let you know when we have an idea when it will drop. What's in it? A couple of things.

First of all - it updates RB1 so you will still be able to purchase DLC from the Rock Band store. Downloading this patch is required if you'd still like to do that.

Second - Lowers the threshold on gold stars making it easier/possible to gold star songs. This won't affect leaderboards as it only affects the threshold, not the score.

Third - Lately a few songs have had unhittable notes. This should be fixed now.

Lastly - It will allow you to export your songs from the RB1 disc to the hard drive for play in Rock Band 2. Official language follows for this feature-

Nominal fee of $4.99 (400 Microsoft points) required for export of Rock Band 1 soundtrack to compensate music licensors for expanded use.The following Rock Band disc tracks will not be available for export into Rock Band 2: * "Paranoid" as made famous by Black Sabbath, * “Run to the Hills” as made famous by Iron Maiden, and "Enter Sandman" by Metallica. In addition, the title update will also be released simultaneously in Europe. Tokio Hotel’s “Through the Monsoon” from the European disc release of Rock Band will not be available for export into the future European release of Rock Band 2. (* Indicates a cover song, all other songs are original master recordings.) Expanded usage rights for these particular tracks were unable to be secured from the music licensors for this feature.
ahaaaa, so I wonder... is that due to Metallica being "exlusive" to GH? or is that just due to Metallica being Metallica?
I'm sure in this case it's due to Metallica being exclusive. I'm guessing Train Kept 'A Rollin' (or however the fuck it's spelled) will transfer due to it being a cover, and not a master. Lucky us... I was REALLY hoping none of the covers would transfer, especially Tom Sawyer. But yeah, that said, 3 songs is far better than expected. Wonder if there's going to be a GH Maiden and/or Sabbath, or if they are just under exclusive deals with GH now. I wish they would publish the size of the download/rip though. I usually only have about 1 gig available, and I'm guessing this is going to be a few gigs, at least. Thanks much to JRT1138. I've really been looking forward to this info.

For basically $5 you can get the entire Rock Band 1 set list, minus a few songs, I'm thoroughly pleased with that. I'm sure people will be borrowing discs and renting them like crazy just to get the songs if they don't have the original game anymore. I read somewhere the transferred songs only take up like 1.52 GB so that isn't that bad either. Here is where I read the info.

Awww I'm kinda bummed that Run to the Hills won't transfer. One of my favorite songs to sing. Maybe we'll get a master one of these days. I always sing the way Bruce does, anyway, so sometimes my pitch is off from that of the cover singer.

Still, that's great news for the most part, and a total steal as far as i'm concerned. Anyone planning on doing the transfer on day 1, I'd suggest unloading that RockBand disc IMMEDIATELY thereafter or it'll pretty much be worthless to you and everyone else in the world.

I'll prolly just save my 400 points by not going with the transfer fee. More points for dlc, and it's not a big deal to swap the discs out.

Ugh. It fucking figures. There are a miniscule number of songs in Rock Band that I was legitimately concerned with not being tranferrable, and they managed to pick not one but TWO of them. That Maiden cover sucks so I'm not bothered by it, but the other two were frequently played.

Guess I'll just hold on to my RB1 disc. Not like I'd be able to get much for it anyway at this point.

I hear that!

I'll just keep my disc and not muck up RB2 with songs that I have already played to death!

I have a question though...

Will my high scores for DLC transfer to RB2?

$32 + tax at Blockbuster for a trade-in. I'd do it in a heartbeat if Sandman was transferring over... will have to discuss it with the wife, she loves that song to death. (Won't miss Maiden, that's for sure.)

So can I transfer the songs over now, sell my copy, buy RB2 later, and still have them work? I thought you needed some sort of code. Will I be able to do this?

I just went through the export process, and all it does is just transfer the songs to the hard drive. For example, if you go into your memory management, you will see all of the Rock Band 1 songs listed just the same as each DLC song. Because of this, I doubt any sort of code, etc, will be necessary. It will just read those songs right off the hard drive.

I think I'm doing the transfer for sure now. Currently GS has a trade in 3 get $15 promo, along with a 20% extra with a preorder on RB2. My local one's always let me stack with pre-order bonuses. I was planning on going game only on RB2 anyway. Somewhat want the new guitar but not worth the price at the moment.

$16 according to the deals forums. Plus 20% extra (30% with Edge) if you preorder RB2. Then an extra $15 if you trade in with 2 other next gen games.

YMMV on getting them to stack the 20% and trade 3 get $15 extra deals, but mine have always let me.

Gee of all the dozen or so crap songs in RB1, the songs that won't transfer are actually decent ones :/

Harmonix need to make some kind of comment on what the hell is going on with Iron Maiden in this game.

I won't do the transfer unless I can 100% verify that it will be possible to go back and delete individual songs afterward. Fall Out Boy I'm looking at you.

$32 to play Enter Sandman. Think of it that way.

I'm going to call my BB real quick to verify the TIV. Mostly for my sake, but I suppose it could possibly help someone else. Maybe. I'll edit this post.

EDIT: $32, just like posted before. I was hoping it would be different at my store, ha. But looks like I'll be trading it in soon.

One more thing, this was posted on Kotaku on August 21:

1) On the day Rock Band 2 is released, Rock Band 1 will receive a title update. That update will add an "export" command in the RB1 menu.
2) Hit "export" and you'll need to enter a password, which you get with your copy of RB2. Enter the password and you have to pay. Harmonix promise it won't be more than $5.
3) Pay the $5 (or less), and your RB1 songs (well...the ones on the disc...and the ones they're allowed to port over, as Harmonix can't guarantee that all songs will be available) will be transferred to your HDD.

So there is no password involved, I'm guessing? Weird.

so you can now export the songs?

The update also organized the songs so that the word "The" is not taken into account when putting things in ABC order, which is nice.

The fact I can delete individual songs makes me waaaay more likely to do this.

(You picked a song I'll definitely be deleting, heh heh.)

Why is it that they're getting rid of Metallica? I thought if anything they'd just get rid of all the covers.

A Kotaku article I saw made reference to knowing my Metallica won't be transfering but then went on to give no reason.

EDIT: For some reason I thought I saw "Wanted Dead or Alive" I don't know what the hell I was thinking.

Dead on Arrival is not that bad of a song.

That's just beautiful man. Thanks for sharing. :applause:

Bah, I just can't decide whether to dump my RB1 disc... I'll almost certainly never get around to playing it again once RB2 comes out.... but it's not in my nature to part with any games I really like in my collection :(

I know the feeling. It'd be nice if it could get a nice chunk off of RB2. Knowing my luck and past experience with trade ins though, I'd be amazed if I even get 15 bucks for it. I'd rather keep it for collectors sake and to have access to the few songs. Going to kind of miss Run to the Hills.
bottom line... can i export the songs today and trade the disc in tomorrow?
I'm pretty sure.
You just won't be able to play them until RB2 is released.
