Grrr...I can not log into the EA page to set up an account. I enter all my information and then it just resets the form. Anyone else having this problem today?

Well after playing with the RB guitar for a couple days I decided to go back to the wireless GHIII guitar and I must say that it works alot better for me. I'm not sure if I'm have one of the defective guitars or not, but my problem with the RB guitar is that that strum bar is extremely mushy. While the GHIII guitars all have that audible 'click' when you strum, the RB strum bar is seems to register a strum with just a slight touch. Possibly I would get used to it but I'll probably keep the RB guitar as my backup/bass.

Also when I try to connect to "Rock Central" under the Community option in the main menu, I am not able to connect. Is everyone having this problem and this feature is not implemented yet or am I the only one having this problem?

The EA site is just horrible. I had to just keep trying over and over when I was using it for Skate.

Anyone looking to get a cheap mic stand, I was browsing Guitar Center online and they had a few different choices for around $10. I might swing by B&M today to get some drum sticks too. The one that came with my game needed to have some splinters sanded off.

I'm trying to adjust to these drums and decide how I want to grip the sticks and height and all that. I think I might need a good stool or something too. I haven't touched a real drum set in like 5 years and RB has really makes me want to get a real set. If only I had the room.

I does this for me all the time. I tried logging in to see my Skate videos weeks ago. It worked one time when I was persistent.
Where in AZ are you? Just curious. I sold my Strat on eBay for $70 shipped. I had a 10% coupon for CC so I got the bundle for $153, so after selling the guitar it ended up costing me around $90 or so after eBay/Paypal fees and shipping.
I'm in Surprise.

Nice, that's probably what I'm going to do. I really wanted to like the Strat but it just has no click to the strum bar and it really throws me off. And it's not like I'm some Guitar Hero purist, I've only started playing like a month ago. It's just when you get used to something, change is hard.

I've been meaning to ask, is there a way for the drummer to initiate Overdrive manually?
I've been meaning to ask, is there a way for the drummer to initiate Overdrive manually?
No, not like you can with guitar Overdrive, only when the drum fills (solid colored sections) appear on the track and you hit the green note at the end.

I really like the Strato after today when I tried out the Les Paul at BB. Hell, I liked the Xplorer more than the Les Paul. The frets on the Strat are what I like most about it and the sensitive strum bar, I can work with it. Les Paul just feels.. I don't know, but I don't like it for some reason.

Um, if I were to ask for a replacement guitar now, do you think they would offer a free EA game to me as well? We do need a replacement guitar (Overdrive sometimes doesn't work when you put the neck up and we can't use the echo effect), but I'm just wondering if they would offer this or this is just for a previous batch. Not to say I won't ask for a replacement if they don't, but um.. yeah.

The big plus between the Strat and the Les Paul is the placement of the BACK button. As a person who hates rotating the controller for star power/overdrive, I love having the button right under the palm of my hand as opposed to an inch out of the way on the Les Paul.

besides my strat being busted i enjoy using it except when it comes to using the d-pad. why couldn't they keep it the way the guitar hero configuration was. maybe im used to that old way.

o and does anyelse d-pad suck on there drums? its twice as bad as the 360 controller.

Ha ha! And you were defending it just moments ago. That's cute. :)

Yup the shape of it works great with a pick. I'm not sure if I want to get used to playing the way though.

It takes a lot of hard pressing to navigate menus on mine. Since that's all I use it for, though, it doesn't bug me much.

I'm having a blast with the drums, but I'm stuck on FP/L on Hard, I can't get past the sections of R then quickly B+G, it FEELS as if I'm doing it right, but actually my timing is off.

Some songs are WAY harder on Hard than others, Go With The Flow is extremely fucking hard for me. I've been using the heel-down technique up until then, but I can't get used to the heel-up position and having the bass pedal always depressed.

Check out the video to Little Sister at http://youtube.com/watch?v=_c-4krcj9JI at 4 seconds, I can't do that to save my life.

Also, I found that bass notes on off-beats make A LOT more sense on some songs than others. Some songs where it "clicks" for me are In Bloom, BHS, Mississippi Queen, and Learn to Fly. Some of the faster songs like Highway Star just make me say "wtf..."

Maybe you have a defective one? Mine feels almost exactly like a regular controller.

I haven't noticed any issues with my drum d-pad. I do, however, have a completely different issue with my drumset.

(Crossposted in the general Rock Band thread, so skip if you saw it there.)

One of my dogs chewed the connector for the kick pedal. I basically see two options and I'm wondering which is the best. When I bought Rock Band at Best Buy, I opted for their 2-year service plan. Yes, I know the Rock Band box shipped with that flyer stating not to go through retailers for replacements, but this might actually work out.

During the process of going through the forms and such for replacing my guitar (bad strum bar, of course), I remember reading that they would only replace components that were either genuinely faulty or broke due to normal usage conditions. I'm sure dog teeth don't apply. I know I can just get a replacement pedal sent to me anyway, but I'm afraid they will end up charging me for the replacement after they get my destroyed one back.

So, my options are either take advantage of the BB service plan (which EA says not to do) or take my chances with EA and hope they feel generous. What would you do?

Regardless, I am getting the replacement pedal sent to me through the EA site since I can always just return the new pedal with presumably no problems.

You should not send anything back and pay whatever the true cost is. If you are unwilling to pay that cost, then you should go through Best Buy.

EA doesn't want you to go to Best Buy on an initial return because then they have to credit Best Buy for their full purchase price.

For example, lets say it costs EA $15 to manufacture the Drum and $15 to manufacture the rest. They then sell it all to Best Buy for $110, who sell it to you for $160. If you go straight to Best Buy for a drum issue, then they will handle it a full return and charge EA back $110, so EA loses $110. If you go straight to EA to get a replacement, it cost them $15 plus the freight to get it to you (probably ~$30 for the full set). They "save" $65 if you go straight to them. Those savings get even larger in the cases of the cheaper components.

When you buy the extended warranty from Best Buy, they are assuming the liability for issues not covered by the original warranty. Any returns or exchanges handled under that do not cost EA a dime. Given that your issue falls outside of the normal EA warranty, I would go to Best Buy.
Maybe you have a defective one? Mine feels almost exactly like a regular controller.
hmm. well the d-pad does work it just takes a slight more effort in pushing.

checking the status on my guitar shipment. it says parts shipped on EA's support website, but on UPS all it says is bill information recieved.

So, my roomie got his replacement guitar today. And, not only does it appear to be used, it most certainly doesn't work. He seems a little pissed off. Good job, EA!

I'd like to get Rock Band tax free, but I think I'm going to pick it up at Walmart and get their warranty. At least then if something breaks I can exchange it without any problems.

i was just worried that I'd get stuck with another guitar with the same problems as the first one, so i took my $50 on Craigslist and ran with it.

RockBand seems harder than Guitar Hero 3.

The songs are like 3-4x's easier, but hitting the notes seems 3-4x's harder. And all the Rockband songs feel like this: (the dots are the notes)

:::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::: :::::::::::::::::::::

Like just a constant parade of notes, every song... so boring... and it seems a lot harder to hit those notes in RB. It's like it doesn't register sometimes.
whats on the black sabbath pack?
Covers of NIB, Sweet Leaf, and War Pigs. Downloading it now.

Damn I need some points. Looking at the list of DLC, half of them look very enticing. And new stuff every week? This is going to add up fast.

I'm wondering if the War Pigs cover is the same as the cover from Guitar Hero II. That was a pretty good cover if you ask me. So far, this is the only downloadable pack I'm considering, mostly because of War Pigs. The other songs aren't very memorable, but I'd still like to get all of them for the discounted price.

The covers are good. If you don't think N.I.B. and Sweet Leaf are memorable, you must not have a very good memory ;)

Sweet Leaf is the hardest one (on expert of course) with a fast little solo bit toward the end.

All three are extremely fun to play.
The covers are good....all three are extremely fun to play.
Thanks. I'm a little wary of buying covers but as long as they're bands I like I can usually be convinced.

So I finaly snapped my drum pedal in half while drumming on hard mode. Anyone with first hand experience on getting a replacement for this? (i.e. are they taking them back or am I going to have to jurry rig this thing back together).

Happened to me a few days ago (posted it a few days ago as well). Filled out some form online for an express replacement and we're expecting it to come in this week.

I know exactly what you mean. The note charts are definitely easier, but it is so fucking hard to hit the notes in Rock Band. I mean its so frustrating how difficult it is that it dissuades me from playing guitar in Rock Band.

i don't really understand, i think i noticed a timing difference but i got used to it pretty quickly, have you guys tried the lag calibration?

Rock Band is cake compared to GH. Not to say its not fun but GH3's last tier can be rough. I think what can be confusing is how the Drive bar is on the bottom, when I get confused on drums its often because I lose my timing and am actually hitting notes between to two bottom bars.

So I snapped my drum pedal last week and today I get home and they shipped me two.

Do you think they are expecting me to ship two broken pedals back?

I don't want that charge left on my credit card.

Anyone download Joker and the Thief? It sounds fun to play but watching the youtube video it seems like theres only two different sections that keep repeating themselves.

I think the most obvious thing to do would be to contact them about the mistake.

Well, we just assumed it was because of how dirty it is. Even if it is new, it most certainly is defective. Luckily we have our GH2 guitars to hold us over until EA gets this resolved. Because of their quick response to complaints about damaged/defective equipment, I really thought EA had turned over a new leaf. I'll try to hold judgment until the guitar problems are resolved.

"Here comes the new EA. Same as the old EA."
Anyone download Joker and the Thief? It sounds fun to play but watching the youtube video it seems like theres only two different sections that keep repeating themselves.
Yeah I downloaded it. Not that good really, the song is a pretty uninteresting A-B-A format with a tricky intro and outro (kinda like cowboys from hell) but the meat of the song is borring. Drums are solid, though.

Speaking of which, I said screw it with my drum pedal. I went ahead and bolted a metal plate on top of the break and it works just like new. I figured any replacement is liable to break down the line anyway because of the obvious design flaw.

i dont know much about retrieving gamertags or saving them onto a memory unit so ive got a question. lets say ive created my character at home, my friend made his character at his house, and now we want to get together at a 3rd guys house. the 3rd guy will have his character since its his system and game save but is there a way for me and guy #2 to use our characters on his system?

Has anyone gotten replacement drum pads? I put in a warrnaty request on the 21st and they still havent shipped. all contact with EA gets me the same canned responses. Does anyone know a phone number to call? Couldn't find it on the support site.

I think you'd need a memory card, copy your gamertag and character save onto it. I'm not sure how big the file would be, though.
i don't really understand, i think i noticed a timing difference but i got used to it pretty quickly, have you guys tried the lag calibration?
I did calibrate for lag. Maybe thats the problem. It also doesn't help that the hammer on's and pull off's are so hard to distinguish from the regular notes. When they were testing this, didn't anyone say, "Yeah um these hammer on's are really fucking stupid, can't you just make them have a white center with a black edge."

I played the drums mostly. So I need to put more time into the guitar portions. Maybe it's the game, maybe the rock band guitar, or maybe I'm just actually fucking up (even though I doubt that).
