Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now
Next week's DLC has been "two years in the making" according to some stream the HMX guys did. Most people have taken that to mean there is an artist who hasn't been in Rock Band in a long time returning, but who knows. I will laugh if it's more Offspring or Foo Fighters.
Pearl Jam?

Remember their big Rock Band project was due a couple of years ago, then the song pages of theirs that was discovered last year with other songs that eventually got released.

(Wishful thinking, but next Tuesday is my birthday so what better present than more songs on Rock Band from my favorite band?)

Yeah, good point on Pearl Jam. They never did do that big...thing they were talking about.

Obviously a lot of people are guessing Metallica but personally I think that ship has sailed a long time ago. Plus that's more than 2 years ago.

GNR, Metallica and Pearl Jam are all logical answers. However over the past 5 years of DLC announcements, when HMX hypes something up it generally ends up being some lame ass band that only the folks at HMX enjoy.

What can I say, they've conditioned me not to expect an actual "big" artist from blurbs like the one above. I'm going to guess it's someone on the Rock Band 3 disc like Paramore or Phish.
I'm pretty sure it's more Rick Astley including "It Takes a Strong, Strong Man"
We're releasing one of the most requested songs ever!... fuck off HMX...

I played Rock Band for the first time in forever yesterday. Just to Play Eddie fucking Money, who I seen last week, dude still has it.

Also we still need Every Time I Die.
I wish Pepsi would do another Rock Band yellow cap promo.
Ah yes, the promotion where I convinced myself I was "saving money" by buying far more Pepsi than I normally would to get songs I would not have bought otherwise.

Then again, I did win that $250 Beatles set right at the end of the promotion, so I suppose it was worth it.

http://www.rockband.com/blog/full-rock-band-blitz-setlist-announced

Full Blitz setlist now revealed. The fact that I haven't bought a track since the end of May has been forgotten now that we're getting motherfucking "Death of Two Legs." Possibly my favorite Queen song and one I never thought we'd see. If they censor "now you can kiss my ass goodbye" I'm going to be incredibly annoyed though...

And for those missing them from Rock Band 2, this will be the return of Spoonman and Give It Away.

At 15 dollars, I'm basically looking at it as a heavily discounted song pack, that as an extra comes with a game that may or may not be good.

Haha, yeah, honestly at this point I don't care if the game itself is any good (though I hope it is), I'd buy it for the songs either way.

As KaneRobot said: mother fucking DEATH ON TWO LEGS!

• The Black Keys – “Tighten Up” O
• The Black Keys –“Howlin’ for You” O
• The Black Keys – “Lonely Boy” O X

Nothing for me, but not bad.

When I read this I was being a smart ass and thinking "Black Keys"....this was becoming a trend with Rocksmith so I stopped even looking forward to new DLC there. Really....Black Keys? Do they need advertising that bad? Harmonix getting cheap. I'm thinking The Black Keys are paying to get their content out at this point. :(

Probably. I'd think they would want to push DLC as hard as possible over the next few weeks, since Blitz will be bringing in some new customers.

I think Blitz is going to be terrible with only two notes. I was hoping it would be a de facto Frequency/Amplitude sequel.

Anyone here looking for an ION drum rocker kit (for the 360?) I have mine with 2 RockPedal.com pedals that I'm looking to sell.

I'll be posting over in the Marketplace as well, but figured that I would put out the word here first.

Drop me a PM if you're interested.

Really enjoying Blitz so far (got it early). I wish for multiplayer because it could totally work, but it's still a lot of fun. Great menus and interface, too.
Doesn't it have some sort of SSX "beat your friend's score" thing built in? Not true multiplayer I know, but at least it's something.
Yeah, it shows your score in relation to a friend's score on the right side of the screen during gameplay and announces it if you pass them up. You can also directly send score challenges for individual songs. The recipient has 3 days to accept or decline, and you get an Achievement just for sending the first challenge.
Shoot dude, a 25 song pack for $15 is a great DLC release if you ask me. ;)
Yeah, that's true, although nothing on the Blitz set list really interests me personally.

Ridiculously dumb question, but do I have to buy the ENTIRE Blitz pack for RB 3, or will I be able to choose which songs I want. Really only interested in about six songs.

The export is a single file of approximately 750 MB, much like the Rock Band 2 export. So no picking and choosing songs. Blitz itself, regardless of export, clocks in around 350 MB.

25 songs for $15 is a way better deal than what you'd normally be paying for six songs anyway. It's really only a few dollars more.
Just thought of something...is this the first week since f'ing November 2007 that we haven't had new songs out?
Technically, yes. But that's not really a fair statement since Blitz essentially is a song pack. I'm sure the number of people buying the game just so they can add the songs to RB3 will be incredibly high.

It depends on the songs. For me alone, it's not a good song pack, but combined with my girlfriend's interests, then we'll get our money's worth.

Quick Look of Blitz. Ryan spends too long in the menus but eventually gets to gameplay. Game still makes zero sense watching it but I'm sure it becomes clear through play. There are some pretty sneaky hooks in there (in terms of goals and achievements) to try to incentivize you to buy DLC and use the Facebook app...not cool.

Yeah... Maybe it's because I've never played Frequency but I've watched several videos of Blitz and I have no idea how it works with the four different instrument tracks. Do you choose which one you want to play at a given time? Are you losing points by missing notes in the other three tracks that you're not playing?

Sort of. You basically have to "keep them going". It'll start you out with one instrument that you play for a bit to get a streak going. Then, it'll add another. You switch to that instrument to get it going, then switch back to the first instrument to "replenish" your streak. Eventually, all the instruments will be added, and you'll have to manage which one to switch to at a given time. Sometimes it will be obvious if there's a big solo coming up or whatever.

But for the most part, it'll be on you to keep each instrument going so parts aren't dropping out and you'll get the best score. It doesn't have the "air guitar" allure that Rock Band provided, but at this point in the genre's existence, I don't blame Harmonix for going for something a little more basic that still lets us use all that DLC we've acquired. Who knows...this could even rejuvenate people who think the rhythm genre is "dead", and pave the way for RB4.

Looks hella fun, but I honestly don't see why they didn't do a more amplitude/Rock Band Unplugged type of game. They want crazy power ups? That's fine. They want "simpler" gameplay with only 2 notes per lane? Easy mode. They clearly have some sort of algorithm for converting the note lanes from regular Rock Band to Blitz tracks, so maybe it was an issue tweaking it to fit a more "complex" structure of 4 notes per lane?

Either way this looks cool, but I'm still disappointed.

It's not really easy though. The notes move extremely fast, and you have multiple ways to tackle the lanes in your pursuit of higher scores. Five-starring songs takes some work, and gold starring them is highly dependent on a combination of skill and smart power-up usage.

Well there is only about 3-5 songs I want from the Blitz soundtrack. I have Soundgarden - Spoonman and Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Give it Away. I think I'll wait on Blitz for a sale or just see if I can buy the songs I want individually.
