Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

I'll be getting Blitz for Blitz. Well, if I buy it. I hope the game makes sense once you play it, because like everybody else the videos of the gameplay make no sense to me, so obviously I'll try the demo before buying, but I'm certainly hoping it clicks and is fun.

Blitz tekes foreeeevvvee to read all your DLC the first time, and I know some of you put me to shame in terms of DLC. Set aside an extra 10 minutes!

I'm at a hotel this week and naturally the internet stinks, so imagine my surprise and disappointment when I finally got my 350Mb download finished (after having to retry many times} only to be prompted to "download the soundtrack at no additional cost." Another 750MB. If I'm lucky I'll be playing this by dinner time.

Ya it took forever, was coming here to post about that.
Well, you gotta figure everybody is trying to download it right now too. Speed's are probably going to be a little slower than normal.
He said he was in a hotel and the speed sucks.

Oh well, can't wait to try it out, after work tonight. Almost more excited to play these in RB3 now that I think of it...

The person after him isn't at a hotel. :dunce:

I'm took it as he meant it took awhile due to the multiple large files. Oh well, not trying to pick things apart. All is well.

What sucks is that to get it on the Xbox I mainly want it on, I have to download it twice. Well, I want it on both of our Xboxes, but I mostly play on the other one. My kids mostly play on the main one. So I need to download it first to the main Xbox, then redownload on the 2nd one. 1st world problems.

OK, so...what controls are people using? Having a hard time deciding. Using the triggers for notes seem like response time is too high, and the a/b buttons imduce incredible hand fatigue, at least for me. The a/b way also makes two-note presses kind of awkward.

Fortunately, as I hoped, how to play the game becomes pretty easy to figure out after just two or three plays.

Game is kind of fun. It's still a track pack as far as I'm concerned, but it comes with a neat little game as a bonus. Wish they built the friends list challenge stuff into RB3.

I've been using the triggers to change tracks and the left/right sticks to play the notes. It feels awkward, but I think I'll eventually get used to it. I do keep screwing up though and getting the controls flipped around, pressing a trigger to play a note, and trying to switch tracks with the sticks. I think the concept is just new.

I been using LB/RB and the sticks. The game is actually more fun then I thought it would be.

And I meant loading your tracks in when it starts the first time takes awhile, the download speed wasn't that bad.

Gonna try to stick with "Freakish" (triggers for notes, d-pad to switch). Still worried about response time but it's the only way I'm currently able to play where I don't accidentally mix stuff up.

I went with the default. Use the d-pad and A as button presses.

So far not a fan of Blitz. I am not sure where I am going wrong. I can't get over 4 stars.

Oh... and Dragonforce's Through the Flames restored some faith in the game. It was fun.

Strategy is very much song dependent, it seems. For example, at the beginning of the song, do you try to take all tracks to 4x or do you try to take them to 2x? On some songs, you don't have time to take them all to 4x, at least as far as I can tell, so you go ahead and get that level cap as high as you can right off the bat.

There's strategy in choosing whether or not to bail on a track, when to get multipliers up, and when to deploy power ups. You really have to learn the song first, map out when to deploy a powerup, then "buy" your power up with those stupid coins. Or I could just have it all wrong at this point.

I like the game, but I do think it's missing something from not having three notes. Playing the actual notes is not as fun as planning out your strategy, but the strategy is enough to enjoy it at this price point. And I'll be playing some of the 25 songs in RB3 later.

I'm not feeling it so far. My brain needs to be completely rewired for this. Switching tracks is like trying to pat my head and rub my belly at the same time. It's not intuitive at all.

It's not horrible, but it doesn't feel inspired at all. At least there are some okay tracks for RB3.

Isn't it possible to hide tracks? So help me, if I even hear a sample of that "Shine" song...

It's been awhile since I had a game where the walls started crawling. I Think the weird problem I have with the game is that in my head I feel I'd have more fun playing these songs on Rock Band 3 then in this.

im having lots of fun with Blitz, it takes a while but you kinda get the hang of it and you just need to play all of the instruments equally and not concentrate on only 1 instrument. Wish it has online play in it though. It's still a fun way to play Rock Band if u don't want to spend the money on all of the instruments

Using "Freakish" (should've called it Freq-ish as it's similar to Frequency's setup). Much better than trying to rely on the crap dpad.

Not... really feeling it so far. It's alright, but seems way dumbed down/casual. Not to beat a dead horse but the two note highways are just stupid and boring. I've never been someone who went for score attack kind of modes, and that's pretty much all this game is. Also hate that power ups cost coins, and coins aren't that easy to get. Ah well it's a fun toy and I'm glad to have the songs in RB3.

This! There's just no feeling of skill/accomplishment in this (from what little I've played so far).

Sticking with Freakish...triggers as notes / dpad to switch I guess. Just can't seem to force myself to use the dpad as a note "button."

Starting to rewire my brain and understanding more. You really have to learn to let go of the gotta hit every note mentality. I've only managed to get 5 stars like one time so far. A lot has to do with maximizng use of your power ups.
Isn't it possible to hide tracks? So help me, if I even hear a sample of that "Shine" song...
Yeah. I also wouldn't mind having Moves Like Jagger erased from my personal existence. And everyone involved in creating it being murdered.

Borrow someone's RB1 disc and pay the $5 export fee. RB2 had unique codes that can only be used once to export, so you'd need an unused code.

Forced myself to stick with default controls until I get used to it. Seems to work well now that I'm not trying to figure out how to play at the same time.

Sent out a few Score Wars.

Really missing the RB3 songs. Not holding my breath for an export but I hope we get one someday.

Same, it does personally remind me how much I love the Rock Band 3 setlist when I look for it and forget about it all being on disc still.

Though I will admit, Rock Band Blitz has reminded me how goddamn awesome a song "Shout" is.

If anyone wants to group up for some of these RBW goals to get through them more quickly send me a friend request. If you're already on my friends list send me a XBL message so we can link on Facebook (I think? - I guess that's how it works?)

I stick with Freakish controls and it's like second nature for me now. Now I just gotta find some RB3 instruments -_- cause I re-bought RB3 and now I have no bass or guitar.

maybe its me but it seems really hard to 5 star songs that arent in Blitz orDLC songs earlier than rb 3. I get good scores on them but cant seem to get 5 stars

My thumb is numb after playing for 9 hours yesterday, I think I am getting old

I only have 7 Live friends so all the passing up your friends doesn't really help me much. I have the generic Mothership Q people and thats it. If you play and want to add me feel free on xbox Kezmer Gamertag

I'm hoping and assuming it'll just come after a few more days of play (figuring out how to get more stars). On day 1 I was getting 3 stars on almost everything, now I'm usually getting 4 1/4 to just barely below 5 stars on most things, with (very) few 5s here and there as well. Guess it's just a matter of figuring out what power ups work well together and learning the best way to maximize your score while not forfeiting multipliers on each track.

yeah that is what I am thinking also, I have noticed that songs with the full complement of 5 track including keyboard notes are a lot easier to 5 star. I have been getting a lot of 4 stars on older things and 5 stars on anything since RB3.

I 4 starred one song and ended up with the 4th highest score ever. Just seems weird to what I am used to from RB but i still love this game a lot!

I noticed that too. Thought it was just me.

Only a couple of friends picked this up so feel free to add me.

I got the 5-star everything achivement but holy crap is Shout bafflingly hard compared to everything else. Maybe I was just doing something wrong, but it took like 6 or 7 tries before I got it. Everything else I got in one or two tries.

The solution posted to TA for the 1,000 cred achievement says it should only take 7-8 songs. I've played about twice that many (just got the dozen song achievement, plus played a couple DLC), and I still only have about 900 cred. Am I missing something, or doing something wrong? Is there an easy way to get more cred per song? Also, it seems if I buy power-ups for all three slots, it'll cost me more coins than I earn for the song, even though I'm getting double coins for playing songs for the first time. Is that normal? Thanks.

Also, is there a way to manually pick what some and what opponent you issue a score war challenge to? The only place I see it is from the main "play" page, but it's always one predetermined song/opponent.

I'm getting 4 stars almost every song I play. I've completed about 40 songs now, and have exactly 3 songs with 5 stars, maybe two songs with only 3 stars, and everything else 4. Clearly, I haven't quite mastered this yet.

The Facebook app is annoying. You can't even make challenges that are cross-platform, which I'd have thought you could given the use of Facebook, but you can't. I see my PS3 playing friends, but can't make a score war with them. What's the point, then? Well, I guess the point is to advertise the game on Facebook. I.e. no benefit to the player. You also can't see your progress on goals from within the game. You have to go to Facebook to see that. I really wish I could see that stuff in-game.

But I love the game itself. It's great.

I might actually play it now... Seriously, the coin system is retarded. You should earn less coins, and they should be used to permanently purchase powerups (ie, unlock the ability to purchase with blitz cred or whatever it's called, then pick which ones you want with coins). Should also have had more "unlockables" to use coins toward.

...stupid casual bullshit grumble grumble... social gaming fucks grumble grumble... *shakes cane*

The coin system is kinda lame, but it shouldn't affect your enjoyment of the game unless you're only going after gold stars or something. High scores aren't everything. Also, the Facebook challenges are genuinely easy (play certain genres of songs, etc.) so they're worth signing up for if you really want more coins.
9/11 DLC:

Matchbox Twenty – Bent
Matchbox Twenty – How Far We’ve Come *
Matchbox Twenty – She’s So Mean

Pass that dutch. :p
One of my favorite bands, but they probably could have picked some better songs. I get why "She's So Mean" is in there...the new album just came out Tuesday. "Bent" is all right, but I'd rather have "Disease". "How Far We've Come" I never really liked. They should have gone way back with one of these and threw in "Push" or "Real World". I'll still get the pack...and I'm at least glad it's a band we haven't seen before. That's something we need more of.

@_@ Totally getting that DLC pack. I was hoping they would put "How Far We've Come" for ages now. Well, any Matchbox song honestly.

I fucking wish. So annoying.

I'm pretty sure you can pick who to send a score war challenge to and what song through the Rock Band World facebook app.
