Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

regarding the upcoming patch:

someone on another forum posted "if the patch allows you to sort either by star count or by songs you haven't played yet, that would rule."

A Harmonix employee responded "It does both of these - Sort by 1-Gold Stars, with 'Unplayed' as a category."

Nice!!

What thread was that under? I'm curious about what all is actually going to be included in this patch, aside from the stars and Lips mic patch.
I hate to burst your bubble but I don't it has been mentioned anywhere that it will be free. It will more than likely be like Death Magnetic. CD: $10; CD+DLC $25+
yeah, i assume this will be the case again here.

Yea there is supposed to be 2 versions. One with just the CD and the "Target Special Edition" that will have the codes to download the tracks. I'm hoping for a 9.99/19.99 price point at launch. :applause:

Oh yea, less than 3 weeks from release now... :bouncy:

Edit - Target.com has a link up listing the CD for $11.98, but it doesn't mention anything about which edition it is:

I'm late to this thread, but I didn't even notice they had Rancid for download. OMG I been waiting forever for some Rancid.
The Guitar Hero, Lips and Rock Band Logo are all on the package.

http://www.ebgames.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=75292

Games listed:

* Band Hero
* The Beatles
* Rock Band
* Disney’s Sing it!
* High School Musical 3: Senior Year
* Guitar Hero: Smash Hits
* Guitar Hero 5
* Guitar Hero: Metallica
* Konami Karaoke Revolution
* Lego Rock Band
* Lips
* Rock Band 2
* And all titles launched after September 2009.

So hopefully we can expect it around the 14th as you were saying.
Now end of August and the patch to make the Lips mics work with Rock Band 2 is still not out?

Wasn't this supposed to be out in "summer"? I guess they've got one more week, by traditional definition.

I didn't think this would be rocket science, but apparently so.

Getting a little nervous. I didn't invest $35 to play Lips.

While I agree it's later than expected, open a book. The last day of summer is September 21st. 95% of the world could care less that for school kids "summer" ends in a week (or is already over). How you figure that's "traditional definition", I'd like to know.

Besides, it's already been discussed that the Lips mic patch will be coming with the update for RBN and several other game updates as well. My condolences if your 11th grade Chemistry homework will prevent you from being able to enjoy the update.

Close your book, if you have any. Open a web browser. Google "summer labor day." (Google is a web search engine.) That's how.

Despite your inane quibbling, the fact remains that this patch was announced in December and April, isn't yet released, and you couldn't quote a release date. "Will be coming" isn't news.

It's not a huge deal, but it does have consequences. I've got a Lips bundle bought months ago that will be returned tomorrow (the deadline) because at this point a patch is still vaporware.

Since Rockband Beatles is a totally different beast and it won't integrate with RB/RB2 should we have a new thread for it?

Also, LEGO Rock Band would need one as well right? Or is there integration between RB/RB2 with it?

The thread title says "The Rock Band series thread."

Anyways, there's already a couple of Beatles threads. There's not a lot known about Lego RB right now either.

You're an idiot. Labor Day is not the end of summer. It might be some kind of figurative "ending" where kids are back in school and some beaches close, but none of that means anything, or makes Harmonix liars in any way. The seasons are there for a reason. Have you heard of the summer equinox? Guess when it takes place.

Regardless, the patch is not "vaporware" as you like to accuse it of being. They wouldn't put "compatible with Rock Band" on the repackaged mics if it wasn't definitely coming down the pipe. The announcement that you referred to said it was coming Summer 2009. Contrary to your moronic belief, that spans from mid June to mid September.

My guess is that rather than doing a few small updates, Harmonix is going to make a big deal out of this one and how they can rival GH5 without even releasing a new disc in the series. If you want to be a skeptic, be a skeptic. But I'll be laughing when the patch gets released 2 days after you return your Lips bundle.
I know what it says. Which is why I asked how everyone feels about it, now that 2 other games that don't integrate with RB/RB2 are coming out.
Two? :D

Rock Band News: Lego Songs Exportable, Deets on Queen, White Stripes

There's also a list of new DLC in the article, including "Kryptonite" and a Raconteurs three pack with "Steady As She Goes." "Under Pressure" will be DLC, and "We Will Rock You" and "We Are The Champions" will be in Lego Rock Band.

Great news! Being able to export the Lego Rock Band disc is just what I needed to hear. Also can't wait to get Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground.

Just fantastic news, I am pretty much guaranteed to get lego rock band now and that upcoming dlc news is fantastic. I am going to be quite broke this holiday season.

based on that Wired article this is what the known LEGO Rock Band tracklist looks like so far (newly revealed songs in bold):

The Automatic - "Monster"
Blink-182 - "Aliens Exist"
Blur - "Song 2"
Bon Jovi - "You Give Love A Bad Name"
Carl Douglas - "Kung Fu Fighting"
Counting Crows - "Accidentally In Love"
David Bowie - "Let's Dance"
Elton John - "Crocodile Rock"
Europe - "The Final Countdown"
Foo Fighters - "Breakout"
Good Charlotte - "Girls & Boys"
The Hives - "Tick Tick Boom"
Iggy Pop - "The Passenger"
The Jackson 5 - "I Want You Back"
Kaiser Chiefs - "Ruby"
Pink - "So What"
The Police - "Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic"
Queen - "We Are the Champions/We Will Rock You"
Ray Parker Jr. - "Ghostbusters"
Sum 41 - "In Too Deep"
Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - "Free Fallin'"
T.Rex - "Ride a White Swan"
Vampire Weekend - "A-Punk"

Lookin' good!!

The amount of novelty songs in Lego Rock Band makes me pleased as punch, and I can't wait to export them. This set list will be a surefire hit at future parties. I can imagine a crowd singing along with more than one of these songs.

Not only novelty, but a lot of pop and more "radio-friendly" music than either of the previous Rock Band games. Tom Petty, Sum 41, Counting Crows, hell, even the Pink song...depending on how the rest of the track list shakes out, this might be my favorite music game yet.

I didn't know that Ruby was confirmed. Nice to know I can play it in something other than Guitar Hero 3 now. :D

Plus $50 MSRP according to GS, Amazon and other sites. So song to song transfer, songs and price kinda has me sold. Though I still want to know the play modes in the game.

I'll eventually add the Lego game to the OP. Just waiting for more info on it.

Ok, just for the hell of it, here are the 10 I'd want for the Queen release:

Keep Yourself Alive
Hammer to Fall
Innuendo
Princes of the Universe
One Vision
Flash
Death on Two Legs
Killer Queen
Don't Stop Me Now
The Show Must Go On

*EDIT* - I just noticed that Under Pressure was actually announced, so if I have to pull one off the list above I guess it'll be Killer Queen.

That's a good list, I would probably remove two and replace them with I Want To Break Free and Fat Bottom Girls, just because those two strike me as particularly enjoyable Rock Band songs.

As for this week's DLC, I was quite disappointed to see that the Talking Heads selection didn't include This Must Be The Place (Naive Melody) as that is one of my all-time favorite songs.

cool.
Does anyone know whether there will be a one-time export code with Lego RB or can you rent it and export?
I would assume it's a one-time use code, since more people have to buy the game that way. From a business standpoint it would be dumb to set it up in a way that actually encourages renting/borrowing.

The Rock Band 1 export was a weird case because it was basically a lame-duck game at that point. I doubt they'd sacrifice a brand new game in the same way.

That's what I would think too. Unfortunately, if true it means I won't be picking up Lego RB - at least not at $60 - because all it will be for me is a DL track pack. I'd probably pay $30 for it though.

Having a one-time export code inserted with the game sounds like the most logical outcome, but the news reports make it sound otherwise. The Wired article read: "Our source says a small fee will likely be attached to this feature, as was the case when exporting the songs from the original Rock Band."

As legit as Wired is when it comes to news (and I believe the article 100%), keep in mind that we haven't got official confirmation yet. The "how" still needs to be clarified.

Man, Bat Country on guitar is fun as hell, but in no way does it feel like a red horns song, 4 or so if anything. Though I have some problems of all things with Once In a Lifetime during the chorus since it basically goes into the same fast single to double frets like the Rio saxophone solo part or that song Outside that was in Rock Band 1.

I dropped by gamestop today and there were a bunch of huge boxes around and the manager was unpacking Beatles Rock Band Bundles. Man I'm so excited. Unfortunately, my store didn't get enough preorders for a midnight release so far:[

Not really, the problem was there was no precedent for an export option so there were no codes pre-printed in RB1 manuals. There wasn't a conceivable way to make them one-time use. But yeah, at this point is safe to assume everything will be unique from here on out. No more mass renting/borrowing/exporting.

You are in luck, it's only $50! :)

So I've been jamming on my ion kit, and that thing is nice. I could tell immediately that the pads were infinitely better than the ones from the RB2 kit. Getting used to the pad spacing is going to take some time though.

The directions for putting it together were kind of shitty, but I managed.

So Lego RB is only 50, eh? Do we know how many songs are coming on the disk? I'm actually pretty pumped for this Lego crap. I had totally written it off and thought I was going to have to wait until 2010 to get a Rock Band game that was worth a damn (I am referring to what should be the true sequel to RB2, I don't really give two shits about the Pearl Jam "project" of theirs.).

Anyone know the URL for the site that matches you with gamers that have similar DLC to you?

I'm sick of joining games where no one has DLC, so I want to get some friends who share my taste.

This one?

I was curious and I checked - we don't have much DLC in common. Not that it'd matter, anyway, since my Gold runs out in a few days. :lol:

Next week's songs(probably):

3 Doors Down - Kryptonite
AFI - Miss Murder
Audioslave - Gasoline
Jackson 5 - ABC

Freezepop - Get Ready 2 Rokk
Freezepop - Less Talk More Rokk
Freezepop - Science Genius Girl
Jonathan Coulton - Re: Your Brains
MC Frontalot - Origin of Species
Paul and Storm - Opening Band

Only thing I'd want off there is AFI and Freezepop. Audioslave is a maybe.
