Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now
Thought about getting it at Walmart, but the 24 hr one here is pretty poor with game releases. I don't know if I'd be able to pick it up at midnight, even if I preordered with their ship-to-store program. So I just ordered it at Gamestop. My keyboard arrived from Newegg today, which makes the wait even harder.
Pshhh, I usually show up for the smaller releases and there is someone unpacking things in electronics. I go over there ask them about it and then wait for them to find it, lol.

We have 3 Walmart Supercenters (i.e. 24 hour stores) in my area so if one doesn't have it I'll just go to another. I ended up having to do that when I bought Resident Evil 5 because they couldn't find it at my usual store.

Thanks for keeping the list of songs and going so far back, KaneRobot. I was able to go through and find a bunch of songs I needed.

The only real reason I could see for creating a new thread is that KaneRobot is eventually going to run out of space in that OP (I can't specifically remember what the character/image limit is, but you will run out). Sure, he could just delete some stuff, but I think the way it's organized going so far back is really great. If he created a new thread, he could also claim the next few posts as placeholders for when the OP does fill up (an option he doesn't have with this thread). Just a thought.

I can also copy the OP into the second post of this thread if Kane wants to keep this thread going. It's up to him.

Sounds fine to me. I know someday two posts won't be enough either, but that's a long ways off. I'm going to be doing a couple of small updates (besides the banner I already tweaked) between now and next Tuesday.

Here's an unboxing vid I did of the new non-pro guitar. Ghetto production values, but honestly If I had known there would be pretty much nothing noteworthy about it, I wouldn't have bothered, ha.

If you don't feel like watching - summary: Looks like RB1 guitar, feels like RB2 guitar. No extras like stickers or anything. Includes the batteries and the strap w/ Rock Band logo on it.

Somebody may have mentioned this earlier in the thread, but I just realized that Fable 3 comes out on the 26th and that several stores will be open at midnight for this release. I know my Gamestop will be, so I can get my RB3 at midnight.

Pre-ordered the keyboard bundle from gamestop. I had $20 online credit and a $50 giftcard so it was a no brainer for me.

On our way to what, a 4th thread?

We better get that award at the end of the year for best nondeal forum. This thing is ALWAYS part of the more active threads.
If there a good consensus on the best wired guitar?

I'm even considering the MadCatz bass with two strum bars.
Just my own experience, but I've had no luck with the Mad Catz Bass, and I've tried two different ones, with months inbetween; first one was DOA, and the second one had a shit Green fret, and possibly Red as well. Needless to say I never picked up a third.

The GH2 Xplorers are really solid, but I'm too used to the RB Strat's strumbar to go back to that. Not sure if there are any other wired ones.

KaneRobot, does that new Strat have a mic port for the headset? I never figured out how to use a mic on the RB2 one (if there even is a way), so that would be my main reason to get a new one.

Yes, it has the port for the headset, but it does NOT come with any adapters or anything, which I believe at least the RB1 guitars did...probably the RB2 guitars as well but I can't remember for sure. I honestly never figured it out either, although I guess I never really tried. The port on the guitar takes a larger connector (think standard headphone size) than the XBox mic uses, and I don't have any adapters laying around.

EDIT - Ok, found an adapter, tried recording a voice message and it didn't record anything. However, since I'm in the beta my dashboard/party chat doesn't work normally, so that could be the reason.

Get "Mary Jane's Last Dance" by Tom Petty, it's practically the same song.

An adapter? I have to see if I still have the damn box for that thing. Maybe it's in there and I never saw it.

Edit: Apparently there is some port on the guitar I've never seen that the mic can plug right into (if you have the puckless version). If there really is a port on there for it, I'm going to feel like an idiot, lol.

Yeah, it's a mini headphone jack along the lower right edge of the guitar...it's a couple of inches to the lower right from the XBox/guide button.

My wired bass has been good to me. Though the wireless one, something went wrong in the assembly line for all of them because the left split strum, strum's the opposite direction. So upstrum counts as downstrum.

Besides that, minus the Fisher Price toy look for it and all, easily the X-Plorer is the one of the other more reliable ones for me.

I hope the $15 gift card at Best Buy applies to the bundle, but something tells me it won't next week. If you buy them separately, that barely counts as a deal.

Yeah, lame as hell. I hope someone steps up in the next 2 or 3 days. Otherwise I guess I'll just stick with my Amazon order.

Anyway, I discovered something last night while testing the new RB3 strat. At first I thought the button was not working properly, but now I'm just about positive this was intentional - if you tap the guide button, nothing happens. You have to hold it down for a second and release it to get the guide to pop up. This should prevent Pulling A Peter Moore in the middle of gameplay.

Alright, I pasted the info into the second post. Might want to look over it and make sure everything is good, but it should be.

Oh well. My Les Paul is still kicking, despite the occasional issue with the red button. But as soon as I get the Beatles LE bundle from that weird website I will have a 100% purebred Rock Band setup.

Oh, and I got the RB3 cymbal kit in the mail last night. How easy are those to take off a drumset once you've fastened them on? I wanna try them out but I've got a new drumset on the way. If it's too much of a hassle to take them off I'll just wait.

One week away! How have they not released concrete details about the export and what not? Hopefully we will have a ton of information coming out this week.

Quick question for everyone here, I already have my keyboard bundle on order and I'm probably going to wait on the pro-mode guitar for now, but what is the minimum option you need to play Pro Mode drums assuming you only have RB1/RB2/Beatles drums at the moment?

You can have anywhere from 1 to 3 cymbals for pro mode to be available. The triple cymbal kit for RB2 is on sale at Amazon right now, but IMO you're better off dropping an extra $12 for the RB3 cymbals (which still attach to the RB2/Beatles kits just fine).

If you just have 1 or 2 cymbals (or just don't feel like using all three for whatever reason) the game will accommodate for that nicely:

Thanks for the info, I'll consider picking up some cymbals for my Beatles kit. I have to say that if this $80 keyboard bundle comes though it will be that much easier to justify picking up cymbals or a pro mode guitar. ;)

The pro mode does have a separate difficulty setting correct? So you can play pro-mode on easy/medium/hard/expert.

Devin Townsend just confirmed the whole Ziltoid the Omniscient album is coming to RBN, work is going to be finished on it on Friday. And I just shit my fucking pants.

Until we get a Type O Negative album (not likely), this is my new favorite DLC.

I may have to check that album out. I really like Ki and Addicted!

Yeah, I'm curious what songs we might lose since we may not be able to export all the songs from RB2.

Could be hit or miss with you. Ki and Addicted are probably my favorite things he has done but Ziltoid isn't the same as either of them (then again, Ki and Addicted are not alike at all either). I still dig the hell out of it though and there are some really cool songs - plus the original version of Hyperdrive from Addicted is on Ziltoid, and I like the original more.

Wow, the Billy Joel "rumor" was true. 12 song megapack coming.

One more new project has Joel venturing into virtual competition. A dozen of his hits will be downloadable for the video game Rock Band 3, out Tuesday. "I've never allowed my music to be used in a game before," but an Entertainment Weekly review of NBC's The Office changed his mind.
Alluding to an episode in which characters mention a Rock Band featuring Billy Joel, "the critic wrote something like, 'God forbid that ever should happen.' So I called my people and said, 'Get me (on) that Rock Band game.' Then I wrote the critic, saying that every time I get a check, I'll give him a little nod."

Man, I was more then satisfied with getting just three songs. Though twelve seems overly awesome now, especially with keys. Hope it comes out next week though so I can use it on the 2400 points promotion.

I am going to take a guess and say the 12 songs are...

1. Piano Man
2. My Life
3. Big Shot
4. Only The Good Die Young
5. We Didn't Start The Fire
6. All About Soul
7. I Go To Extremes
8. It's Still Rock and Roll to Me
9. You May Be Right
10. Movin' Out
11. A Matter of Trust
12. Don't Ask Me Why

That's what I'm hoping for. I think there is a good chance because Billy Joel songs are based around piano so RB3 will want to show off the keyboard in DLC.

Don't forget Uptown Girl and Scenes from an Italian Restaurant. I think those have a better chance then some of the above.

Needs Pressure.

Geeze they are giving us some meaty material for early RB3 DLC!
Doors 9+3 Pack
Billy Joel 12-Pack
Bon Jovi greatest hits (12 songs I think?)

The first 3-pack we get is gonna feel like a slight letdown, haha.
Needs Pressure.
It's will be a huge miss to not have Prelude/Angry Young Man in it just for the piano intro.
Thanks Trakan.

For those curious, the version of Creep in this week's DLC is the album version, not the single/video version.
What's the difference? I just listened to them both and can't tell.

And according to the screenshots in the newest XBox Magazine (which scored the game at a 9.5) there is strong possibility we maybe getting some Metallica DLC since you can score a Metallica shirt for your character in the game. Either that or can get actual band related shirts for your character to wear. All of which I'm not opposed.

Nice! I don't see myself ever getting rid of GH:M, but if it's songs not included there I'm in.

The keyboard + game bundle is currently dropped to $122.22 on Amazon, which has pretty much killed any chances of me buying it at Best Buy.

Scenes from an Italian Restaurant better be one. That's probably my favorite Joel song. It's so freaking epic with all the style changes. Those unfamiliar probably wouldn't give it a chance because it starts so slow, but the piano solo before the "Brenda and Eddie" section is freaking ridiculous.
