Rock Band series - Rock Band 4 out now

so I fired up Rock Band yesterday after being gone for 3 and a half months and holy crap have my skills deteriorated. I was sucking hard.

There were a TON of great songs though for me to DL. It was a pretty decent haul over the 3.5 months.

Really? We finally get some Green Day music have they have to release songs off of their worst album to date? :[

I still might get 21 Guns and Know Your Enemy though,

If you're using the RB2 drums on carpet, should you be wearing sneakers or no? I know with the old bass pedal it was bad to be barefoot and on carpet.

What? I've never known it to be good to wear shoes with these flimsy pedals. Any added weight/force would just be asking for trouble. Why would you even chance it?

N8rock, when I snapped my RB1 pedal, the rep I talked to said to wear shoes. The reason was that the ball of your foot places uneven pressure on the pedal, especially when it's already on an uneven surface like carpet.

That sounds like a crap excuse to blame you for breaking the pedal rather than their own shoddy workmanship. My thought would be if you're playing properly (ie. resting your foot flat across the pedal, keeping it pressed down, and only lightly raising your foot to hit notes), there's no way not wearing shoes would apply MORE pressure.

And my own personal reason for not wearing shoes is because some of the fast tempo songs really get your leg pumping, and I'd hate to get carried away stomping on the thing with the added weight/hardness of a shoe. Maybe I'm wrong though, haha. Wouldn't be the first time :)
Oh man, that Mayhem pack is mine. So fucking mine...
Same. My head and my anus exploded at the same time when I saw the tracks.

Man, I had that problem once except it was only for like two weeks. Hadn't played guitar on the game for two weeks and go back and first song I play when I got back to it was "Last Resort" with my friend and my fingers cramped up bad during the opening riff.

I just done playing Hammer Smashed Face and Black Magic, hard on both guitar and drums. Both are lots of fun with different parts of difficulty. The guitar on Hammer Smashed Face is fucking awesome but Black Magic's strumming is a pain in the ass. I can't alt-strum it for some reason but have to down strum the hell out of it. Black Magic's drums aren't bad and I really like Hammer Smashed Face except for one part that's a noticable difficulty spike. It'll just take some time to get use to the timing change. I'll probably get the Behemoth track later today.

I'm downloading the Mayhem pack now while I listen to What a Horrible Night to Have a Curse; fuck I'm psyched.

I haven't been playing very seriously for awhile now; my fingers are going to hurrrrrrrt

55% complete, I'm ready to GOOOOO :bouncy:

EDIT: Haha, I just failed the above song at 40%. Should've started with an easier warm-up

If those Green Day tracks were from their pre-Warning days, they might have been the first DLC tracks I purchase. I would have bought some Kerplunk or Slappy Hours tracks for the cool factor alone.

Goddamn, the Mayhem pack (excluding Manson) is murder on the hands. I Can barely pass majority of the songs on guitar without ending in the red, but still oddly fun. Hammer Smashed Face on bass I have to say is one of my favorite ones to come to mind from the pack off hand.
Goddamn, the Mayhem pack (excluding Manson) is murder on the hands.
Confirmed.

I'm fairly sure I can beat the Black Dahlia and Cannibal Corpse, but I couldn't make it through on my sightreads. Slayer wore out my strumbar, and it wasn't too bad until the solo came; then I failed. Whitechapel's song is bad ass, but I couldn't keep a streak to save my life, haha. I beat the Behemoth and God Forbid tracks; the latter has an awesome chart, but I wasn't too big a fan of the song itself.

Job for Cowboy I just played. What an awesome chart, and the song wasn't bad either.

God, I forgot how awesome this game is. I went from Cannibal Corpse and Behemoth to No Doubt's Hella Good, one of the songs I picked up from the Pepsi promotion. It almost feels wrong

That solo at the end in Slayer felt like another guitar solo seizure. Though yeah the constant alternate strumming in that one got pretty damn tiring.

And weird you mention that transition to Hella Good, was doing some vocals on Maiden and decided to play Moving to Seattle on guitar immediately afterwards.

Weird you mention Maiden, as I just finished playing "2 Minutes to Midnight".

And I dunno if the solo I failed out at was the ending one or not. It was the first one that pops up in the song :whistle2:#

That was the first one. I Had to overdrive to get out of that one and the second one. The second solo is more erratic as in it's everywhere and there's really no rhythm to it, it's kinda similar to the last solo in Raining Blood, but no where as long.
Mayhem pack is awesome. Have everything at least 5 starred on expert guitar, only golded a couple.
Well, at least you guitarists are enjoying it...

I'm passing on the pack for now. I still don't enjoy playing Visions or Prequel to the Sequel, so I know they'll just be annoying the hell out of me whenever I see them. The guitar charts seem like they could go either way for me; fun and challenging like Megadeth or just frustrating, like Aesthetics of Hate is for me.

Yea I could definitely see drummers just passing this. A friend of mine plays drums and says that Empire of the Gun is a lot of fun though, which is also my favorite song to play on guitar for the week too.

guh, downloaded the new tracks today and my drum set crapped out.

has anyone heard of a problem with the rock band 2 drum set where it wouldn't turn on?

i've never dropped/damaged the set before and it was working fine a few weeks ago. i tried putting a fresh set of batteries in but when i hold in the start or guide button, it never turns on. bought the set in january so i can't get it replaced.

any ideas on what to do? was thinking about trying to open it up and see if any solder joints got loose, but i want that to be my last option.

All but 3 of the Rock Band 1 songs (Enter Sandman, Paranoid,
Pass!
Seconded. Probably good for the bottom line that it's been a while since anything interested me.

So I've recently been listening to a lot of offspring (their entire discography). Talk about a band that needs their own game. Rock band Offspring edition would kick so much ass.

fuck the beatles, give me the offspring!

 How dare you?
 How dare you?
Yeah I know. I get a lot of shit for it, but I just don't care for the Beatles and couldn't care less about the upcoming game. The whole idea is awesome though; following a band around through their entire career. That's pretty sweet. Hopefully this won't be the last time Harmonix does this.

Haha, holy fuck. I just saw Judas Priest in concert, and I was disappointed because they didn't really play any songs I liked (I knew they were going to play all of British Steel, but once that was done, no fucking You've Got Another Thing Coming? Seriously?)

Me and my dad were busting on that Nostradamus song so much though, and now it's coming to Rock Band; haha that song is so gay. Well we'll see how the charts look and how the live versions sound.

Fits them then.

Sorry, I had to say it. No homophobe here.

I'll buy any and all Offspring offered but the Beatles is going to be amazing.

The amount of awesome that would come from an all Offspring Rock Band, beauty.

Haha, it's alright. Even a lot of their older songs have some corny lyrics, but I just thought this was especially bad. I don't think of Nostradamus and go "Wow, badass."

I'm really considering that Big Dipper pack. It doesn't look hard, judging from the YouTube videos, but it looks fun and I really like the way they sound.

The Offspring probably have more DLC tracks available than any group that hasn't had a full album release.

Okay, GH5 is officially getting You Give Love a Bad Name by Bon Jovi and Du Hast by Rammstein. I'm a little jealous.

Seeing how many songs that were on both GH4 and RB2 (counting DLC), it wouldn't be too far off to think of these songs being put on RB3 or just RB DLC. These songs may seem to be too big to just use as DLC, but we've thought that before with DLC.

Let's hope.

Is there a good website that gives "formulas" for created characters? I've seen similar things for wrestling games, and I'd love to make some quick novelty characters (I recall seeing a Conan O'brien and a Hulk Hogan in various YouTube vids and stuff).

btw, how many characters are you allowed to make in RB2?
