Nope, because omg that's totally me (however, I do use special items sometimes). Not sure what the fourth one is about, though.

Lol I end like every FF game without using a single Mega-elixir.

The fourth one applies more to older FPSes like Doom and Wolf3D for me, where secret areas are found that way. In RPGs, there are the rare ones that have hidden items like that. I think Tales of Phantasia did, but don't quote me. Pretty sure Lufia did too.
Is it odd that I find Kisara from Suikoden 5 hot?
yes.
very odd.

you know who i always thought was a slut?
maria from ff2.
Maria-Wounded.gif

look at that captivating pose

i bet she uses it to seduce people into going into THOSE STUPID ROOMS WITH NOTHING IN IT AND THEN WHEN YOU TRY TO LEAVE YOU GET ATTACKED BY MONSTERS

I HATE FF2

I do this, constantly.

I keep thinking, oh hay, I might need this for later... and then, I don't use it because I didn't need to. FFFFF

The fourth one applies to me in Doom, just replace X with space bar.

Those are all hilarious and so true btw. I do all of those except for the talking to NPCs, I find that every game I play I get less and less interested in what NPCs have to say.

My favorite is when you come to a fork in a dungeon, and you do a bit of reverse psychology to try and figure out which path you're supposed to take to make progress, and then make sure to stay away from that one until you've checked everything else.
Though I'm a Rinoa fan myself
I've always prefered Selphie. I mean, being that energetic must make... um... play time that much more wild.

Meanwhile, Rinoa just whined. Waaa, where's Seifer. Waaa, my dog randomly shows up and sticks it's butt in my face. Waa, I can't control my magic. Waaa, I want to be a SEED.

Yep, although I've gotten over looking for hidden rooms so I guess that's some progress...

Maybe one day I'll actually use my Yggdrasil dew on a non-post game boss.

I hate going down a path and then realizing that it's the right way to go, then double backing down the other path and getting fucked when it turns out that that's actually the right way.

I was doing that last night while playing Terranigma. Got to a fork in the dungeon and I chose the path that progresses through the dungeon. I was like "Fack, I need to go back, I might've missed some cool weapon." Go back only to find a messilly healing item which I couldn't carry since I had a full stock.

Guilty of all but especially this. I think Yahtzee put it best: Don't want to use the item on the giant enemy crab in case there's a gianter enemy crab immediately after. I end games with like 99 of every freaking item lol.

I like that Bastion made fun of me for this. You get grenades as a special attack (ie, never use until bosses cuz ya never know!) and the narrator said something to the effect of "Good thing your hording those grenades, you just might need em" because I hadn't used them in so long.

Oh, and talk to every NPC twice cuz sometimes they have two sets of pointless dialogue :D
oh yeah, ashe...

hmm, i will have to give this top list much thought. serious stuff
I know who I'd pick as the best female characters in the FF series (and it isn't based on looks
well I mean they are both beautiful, but I like them for other reasons
). I just got art prints of them at Otakon.

Yea, I was really close to buying a Terra figure at SDCC, but decided against it. That's one of the best looking Terra artworks I've ever seen though.
I just got done playing Quest 64, probably the best RPG I've ever played, ever!
pfft it's nowhere near as good as ff2

the problem i have with terra is that i really don't like her outfit. =(

That's the reason I didn't buy it, lol. She's the reason I put FF6 in the top three FFs, but that red and green outfit looks horrible in anything but 8-bit sprites. Rydia's outfit is almost as bad.

I love her outfit. It goes great with her green hair.
truly? her outfit is quite awesome IMO

That Dissidia artwork confuses me, her hair is clearly green in FFVI (I think it was only ever blonde in concept art).
giving fans the choice!
I'd be fine if the blonde hair was considered the extra color, but given that in all the videos and artwork for Dissidia she has blonde hair and not her real green hair color it just seems off.

Played Nier for a bit last night and I really like it so far. The combat system is not overly complicated but also doesn't get boring. Everything looks great and the dialog is hilarious! When I first saw the Shades, they kind of reminded me of the Gnosis from Xenosaga.

Well, I beat Final Fantasy VII for the first time ever yesterday on my PSP! I gave up during the 2nd disc way back in '97 on PlayStation, so it was interesting closure of sorts for me. Great game.

For all the complaints about FF13's linearity though, I wonder how many had sat down and played 7 recently - even though there is a world map, it is pretty much point-to-point all the way through, and the 'dungeons' aren't complicated in the least. Of course, there is a wealth of side-quest stuff too (a big difference) and a more interesting story.

One problem I had on my PSP though - every so often, the screen would freak out (random sprites and colors, static) coming out of a battle and I was forced to reload the save. Does this happen on other PSN games when playing on PSP to anyone's knowledge?

For me it was that sense of being extremely restricted. I don't mind linear RPGs, Grandia for example was very linear but it created a world that complements an adventure aspect that I think RPGs are required to have. When a FF game doesn't capture that sense of adventure then it has failed on something very important.

Most FFs are pretty linear if you think about, but XIII just was too linear for some people

Your forgetting that 7 is a older game.13 was just linear to the extreme with hallways after hallways

Good point - it sounds like the creators took that kind of feedback into account when making XIII-2, although I liked XIII just fine anyway. I need to get to Grandia sometime soon - Lunar: The Silver Star for Sega CD is one of my favorite games of all time, so I'm sure I'll like it too.

Grandia is good for one playthrough. I'm doing a second run right now and near the end but it's a little boring since I already know the story. If you like talking to people in towns this is the game for you. You have full on conversations with every NPC and most have 2 or three things to say. Also there's not a lot of side stuff in the game. Maybe 2 extra dungeons and that's about it. Like I said it's extremely linear but I don't think it hinders the game in the least.

There was three extra dungeons, but yeah the game isn't really worth a second playthrough.

Seems good enough for 10 dollars, I'll probably get it once I'm done with Xenogears

Defiantly worth the $10.

I'm very excited for BoF IV, heard it'll be dropping on the 16th. Hopefully I can finish up Terranigma before then. I remember playing through the first few hours and absolutely loving the battle animations and music, but I can't remember why I stopped playing. I'm guessing there was another game that hogged my attention and I just never picked it back up.

I picked Grandia up on PSN and didn't make it out of the first town. It just seemed painfully boring. I'll give it another try sometime.
