I love this freaking game! Love music games, love FF music... This game will get expensive for me as I know I'll get all the DLC they release...

I too am shocked by the ommission (unless like you said it's unlockable). Two versions of the main theme (Suteki da ne) but no To Zanarkand? And where's my Other World...

Ah well, that's what DLC is for I guess :D
I'm not too fond of the item/skill system though. I actually have no idea what it does, since to get S/SS/SSS ranks you need stoic.

(And in most of the basic scores I kept getting SS with 1 or 2 greats. damnit.)

I guess that not having To Zanarkand means I need to get back to practicing it on the piano...

I assume for the darknotes. The items/skills make it more likely to find a moogle/treasure on the world map levels (and if you go far enough in them the 2nd and 3rd bosses will appear in the battle stages) and more likely to actually defeat the bosses when they appear, which means you are more likely to get any crystals they drop. I've yet to unlock any characters cuz I can't bring myself to grind darknotes for crystals, lol.
Just got into Tactics Ogre PSP post-game. Apparently the original version has a thing where if you auction off high level monsters in particular towns, you unlock fancy stuff in their shop. However, the official guidebook mentions neither this nor does it have the supposed items listed in the compendium in the back. Does anyone know definitively if they are in?
It was changed so all auctions are monster specific without regards to where you sell it.

the only source on that story is Kotaku with no Japanese news site reporting. SE will have to answer to shareholders so it will not quietly cancel.

There's a Final Fantasy event happening in Shibuya for the franchise's 25th anniversary from Aug. 31st to Sept. 2nd, so perhaps there will be more info around that time.

Won't be surprised if it really has been canned, but at the same time, I was kind of interested in it.

Guess I can finally cancel the Versus XIII pre-order I've had open since March 2010...

In related news, I just finished off XIII-2. I ended up getting the Platinum, so I guess I liked it a lot. The story was definitely pretty silly, but in every other way I thought it was a huge improvement over XIII.

I love how Devil surviovr 2 :ds; gives you the choice of watching the character cutscenes, or getting to the other characters in time to rescue them.

So far, I've let two die. But; if I rescued them in time, I could never learn their story!

Man that would piss me off. I'm really anal about needing to see everything a game has to offer. Like I even hate dialog trees that end so I can't go back and see what they would say in every situation...

You can probably see them all on a New Game + playthrough.
The game doesnt even give you any warning that you're too late until you see the cut-scene with the character's death.

By that point i've already viewed some other characters storylines (which run down time on the clock) and spent 30 mins of real-world time grinding in free battles and fuseing.
So, I really don't feel the need to go back to an earlier save....

I know it's not a Jrpg, but I have been playing the hell out of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, and loving every moment of it. I like killing people, but the game is a pure blast to play with just Tranq Darts and sneaking around, aka the Metal Gear Solid style of play.

Enjoying Witcher 2 much more on my second run through. That being said, it shouldn't taken an entire run through of a game before you start to enjoy it.

I had pretty much the same experience in DS1. It's pretty much impossible to make all the right choices in those games, I'm not even sure you could do it with a guide. I thought I played pretty wisely and I still ended up getting one of the worst endings. Still loved it though.

I managed to get a good ending in DS1. (at least I thought so) Gin's ending which
Destroys all Demons and returns Tokyo to it's original state.

Managed to keep everyone alive in DS2, but failed to recruit one guy. Because I never talked to him, heh. Though I think I chose the wrong ending path with one character, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either, just kinda, meh. (Though all of them seemed to be kinda meh from what I saw online).

There's supposedly a special ending that occurs if you have all the right conditions. That's what I'm trying to do now. It's so much easier since you can carry over your compendium over in NG+. Fighting the first boss with a lvl 63 Loki with Megidolaon and Holy Dance? L O L

Finally decided to start Tales of Graces f, and I am not disappointed in the least. I had forgotten how much I loved the Tales series, and this one is great.

Been playing almost non-stop as much as I can. I'm up to the Rockagong and the skits are starting to get funnier :D

I'm still about 8 hours in Graces. Haven't touched it in a week but I'll get around to it. Playing other stuff at the moment.

Future arc's skits are better than the Rockagong's =P

Hmmm, debating between Wild Arms 4, Baten Kaitos Origins, or Tales of Graces. Need a new JRPG fix. Skyrim is good, but not what I'm currently needing. Only thing making me hesitate is KH3D next week, but I usually count portables as seperate from console game time.

I've been playing Riviera on my PSPGo and I've been enjoying it. Somewhat simplistic, but that's good for a portable RPG. The lack of weapons for Lina is quickly working her way to irrelevancy. I've also learned that as soon as I find a new weapon that I should go to practice mode.

I plan on getting Crimson Gem Saga, Yggdara Union, Hexyz Force and possibly Class of Heroes before this Atlus PSP sale ends in July.
Yes or No?

I finished the main arc of Tales of Graces F a few days ago and am getting through the epilogue now. My wife liked watching me play so much she started her own game and she rarely plays jrpgs, the only other one she really got into was FFXII.

i was thinking the same. input anyone?
i was thinking the same. input anyone?
I recommend Hexyz Force and Crimson Gem Saga. Yggdara Union had a really steep difficulty curve and I got sick of repeating levels from the beginning whenever I messed up. I don't care for 1st person view so I skipped out on Class of Heroes.

The Hex system in WA4 is pretty fun, I never managed to overcome the deck changes between Baten Kaitos and Origins but the beginning was enjoyable.

RPG related. Thought it was funny

3000 trees!!!

but only 1 JEKKI!!!

and it is I!!!

I jus wanna say... I beat Ys Ark of Napishtim yesterday!!

it was great!!

I like it when Ys stories are told when there's a world revolving around a guy who doesnt say anything and jus lets everything happen.

not like that Ys 7 shyt where it's like the dialog constantly implies Adol saying things and having an opinion.

too bad Ys 7 is like the funnest game ever :bomb:

Love Napishtim but I do not like those 3D cutscenes. They made Olha and Isha look really weird.

According to HG101, these cutscenes aren't in the PC version, but were added for the PS2 port. Apparently the PSP version was based on the PC one.

I wish they would bring all the YS Games to Steam. Well all the PC ones anyway (don't know what is and what isn't PC). I bought YS: Origin and I am loving it. I should also crack open my YS: Seven I own for PSP someday as well . I mean literally crack it open as it is still shrink wrapped.

Yeah, they're extremely hideous looking. I remember there was a code you could input to replace the 3D cutscene with the normal anime one.

I've been playing Radiant Historia on my work commute since I finished up Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS recently, and I'm actually really liking the game a lot, but I love time travel so it probably isn't that surprising, haha. I do wish that there was a bit more of the time stream to explore than just two major paths, but I still like a lot of the time travel concepts they put in the game. It hasn't seemed too difficult either so far (about 8 hours in now) but that isn't that bad since I don't mind my commute being somewhat relaxing with a bunch of story reading.

I'm about 32 hours in, playing slowly. It's easy for a long time, and then there's a spot where there's a difficulty spike and I had to grind just a bit (less than an hour, probably). I do spend a lot of extra time warping around to various nodes trying to finish side quests; I'm trying not to use an FAQ for the most part.

Although once you get a lot of people in your party it's like many games with a similar conceit: you only choose 3 at a time, and inevitably there are 2 or 3 that I never use.

Pretty sure Falcom makes a vast majority (if not all) of their games primarily for the PC and then ports them to other platforms.

You know what other game has time travel?

FFXIII-2

Let's talk about that and how better it is than XIII just because it doesn't take 15 hours to start.
Does the PSP version of Napishtim have that really awkward 3D cutscene that was in the PS2 release? If your not sure what I mean skip to about 5:10.
yah I donno, I played PS2 version.

funny thing is, the CG opening explains a lot of how Adol got to the beginning of the game,

whereas the original japanese OP is just a typical Ys butt rock montage, so when you're playing the game and all these characters show up like "oh we were so worried about you" the player would be completely lost had they not seen the american opening.

also all the other in-game cutscenes do not have characters in them, yet they still made them into CG even tho they are exactly the same as the anime cutscenes!!

like when u see boats in the ocean n shyt... the japanese version is a cartoon while the american one is darn near frame by frame identical except it's in CG instead

o_O

Unfortunately, Ys Seven isn't one of those (it's PSP exclusive) :whistle2:(

listen asshole, XIII was just fine, so let's blow this thread open with an FF argument. i'm down.

XIII>XIII-2 says I.

It was better in every way. The exploration forced into XIII-2 adds nothing to the game for me. I guess it's an excuse for the environments to be bland and boring though.
