Rumor: Black Friday PS3 Superslim bundle w/ 2 games $200 (Confirmed!)

My local GameStop Manager informed me that (like last year) Sony will have a 2 game superslim PS3 bundle for $200 for Black Friday. He got this information from the Sony rep. No details on what the games are, or how big the hard drive is inside the PS3.

I was thinking that the PS3 Superslim in this bundle may very well be the 16GB Flash version, that was already cleared by the FCC...

UPDATE 10/26:
Just saw this today at my local Fry's store:

A new Sony produced 250GB PS3 superslim bundle containing 4 games (2 collections of 2 games):

The Infamous Collection (Infamous 1 & 2 and all DLC)
Uncharted 1 & 2 dual pack

The bundle (like the superslim Uncharted 3 bundle) sells for $270.

However, I believe this may very well be the Black Friday bundle, since Sony hasn't made an previous announcement about this bundle like they did for the superslim Uncharted 3 & Assassin's Creed 3 bundle. It fits the profile for a Black Friday bundle containing at least 2 games. Also Fry's tends to get the new Sony hardware SKUs much earlier than any other store...

Here is what it looks like:

According to the link below the price for this bundle is $223.99, close to $50 less than its original price.

If you can give us an exact date, exact price, and list what additional items it will come with, yes. If you can't, then you're just blowing smoke out of your ass.
I can do all of that by making stuff up...

All I know is that the 2nd version of the Windows Tablet will release either February or March 2013. The Microsoft rep told me this at the Virginia Tech career fair several weeks ago. He blatantly told me to hold off until the 2nd version was released since he actually worked with both versions.

There... let the internets run on fire with the above...

No. You know that Sony is in business to make a profit, right?

i really don't understand what is so valuable about the launch model of the ps3, other than the backward compatibility of playing ps 2 games. is the resale value of a used launch model of ps3 worth alot of $, or something?

It also has a media dock (for sd cards and such) and 4x usb ports. All minor stuff to many people, but I rather have them than not.

I might pick this up if it comes with Playstation All-Stars and some other $60 biggun I can flip for most of my money back. That'd make it essentially an $80 PS3 :D
Where at? GS?
ya. I bought my ps3 used about 3 years ago, its a fat 80g model that I recently upgraded to 500gb. I have $110 credit at GS at the moment, I feel it makes sense to trade in what I have, borrow my buddy's ps3 for a month, and then get whatever $200 bundle they throw at me on BF.

This is a great deal. I'm gonna go to the store tomorrow, buy my 2 games & ps3 for $200 plus tax and be on my way!!!!

Thanks OP!

They had Uncharted bundle last BF with some other game I can't recall
and Infamous/Batman/Batman BR the year before that.

I really want to say Playstation All-Star is a good bet cause typically the playstation bundle had one exclusive PS hit title (Infamous [09], Uncharted[10]. LBP2 [11]). I'm really hoping they do two games and a blu-ray this year. Now I just imagined an Avenger's game/BR bundle now..

You need to wait until Friday is black.

last black Friday it was a LBP2, R&C All 4 One and 160 GB PS3 slim for 199.99. there was a uncharted bundle but it wasn't a BF deal. might of had its price knocked down a bit but I hardly think it was a deal at all. Unlike the 199.99 bundle.

Huh? Don't get it. I prefer console gaming. I don't want to sit at my computer monitor, I'd prefer to be in my living room with my family. I know you're going to say something about hooking your PC to your TV. Sorry, I won't be doing that. Most people don't want their computers hooked to their TV. If there's ever the (vaporware) steambox then that's the closest I'll have to it.
really? Dishonored has a 5gb install, Sleeping dogs has over a 4gb, RE6 and DOA5 both have a 3 gig (though DOA is 'optional'.. though not really. Fighting games optional is pretty much manditory unless you want to wait a minute between rounds). Those are just from checking the latest releases. That adds up really fast. Throw in actual save game files and patches and you can basically have 3 or 4 games on your HD at a time unless you do like gordojones88 If you think thats a good value knock yourself out. It sounds horrible to me.

^_^x KD
You are still quoting extreme examples. Many PS3 games are not that bad at all.

Here are some other examples:

God of War 3: 5MB
Soul Calibur 5: 13MB
Uncharted 3: 1GB
Resistance 3: 1.5GB
Final Fantasy XIII-2: 30.7MB

Obviously how many games you can put on the flash drive is going to depend on the individual, but you can't just label it with a low-ball amount like you have. And like I said before, the flash drive version is ment for casual consumers, not gamers like you and me; or people that want to upgrade the HDD right away.

EDIT: I checked RE6, and it has a 8MB install, not 3GB . I checked practically all of the current PS3 releases, and if you averaged the required install sizes, it would be well under 1GB per game

My bad I meant to say the BF before last...I should know too since I bought the last BF bundle as well.

Thus the whole " (Infamous [09], Uncharted[10]. LBP2 [11])" recap.

Apparently in 2010 there was a Uncharted 2 GOTY with a blu-ray and I think a downloadable game BF bundle? I personally skipped black friday that year so I can't remember.
See thats the thing. Everything im reading MOVES the content. I wanted to copy it and still keep a copy on the original PS3. It still plays DLC games and stuff like that, just not discs. Im guessing there really isn't any way to do that other than doing a straight transfer and maybe re-d.loading the games to the old system? Honestly the PS3 seems very clunky. I dont get why you cant copy games and demos and stuff like that. Seems the only way is to re-d.load them, or, like you said do a transfer and lose the old file.

btw do you have to mess with DRM crap like you have to with the 360? I heard they knocked down how many PS3s you can have your data on.
The backup utility only copies. The transfer utility moves, but unless you can't get online with your old system anymore, there's not really any reason not to just use the transfer utility. Just transfer it off, and then either restore from a backup onto the old PS3 or go straight online and download from it. It's actually a fine system compared to how most consoles do it.

And you can just have both PS3s activated at the same time and download anything you own to them. Any older content will work on up to 5 PS3s, but more recent stuff will only work on 2 consoles at a time. If you don't have more than 2 PS3 systems though, then it doesn't matter since everything will always be able to work on both.

You raise a good point, but the games that he cited were all released within the last few (or upcoming months). Granted, all of them are pretty large installs, but I think he was trying to show that any gamer keeping up with the latest releases could get squeezed relatively quickly with 16GB. Looking at the games you picked for your example, GoW 3 and Resistance 3 have been out for a while, so they'd probably have been uninstalled/rotated out of play by now anyway, making their install size incidental albeit tiny.

Anyway, I wanted to try to clarify his intended meaning a bit (Yes, he chose fat installs as his example, but they were all high-profile releases) but I think you made a really good point about casual consumers. For all we know, 40% of us buy a PS3 bundle and never get around to buying a game after that.

Also, thanks for keeping the discussion about SSD/Flash and 12/16GB civil, guys. I've actually learned a lot from this thread and not once has there been some idiotic "NO I'M SURE ONLY EURO GOT THE 13GB AND IT HAS TRIM SUPPORT WE'RE NOT GETTING IT SO SHUT UP" comment. This is helping me plan out my BF purchases.

Lastly, all of the asstards who are furious that a thread clearly labeled Rumors is discussing a deal on Black Friday, what exactly is causing you to get bent out of shape? If you don't want to read about this then don't. It's ONE thread on CAG, and there are sure as hell a half dozen more out there right now that aren't worth any damn compared to this (and these bundles ARE doing to happen, it's a fact of life). Even if your parents were killed by Black Friday speculating bargain hunters, you're best off just ignoring this thread rather than trying to take a dump on us for it.

Seriously, just find some porn. Or kitty cats. Or kitty porn. Screw off, is what I'm sayin'.

I think it is important that Sony at least attempt to compete with Microsoft's $200 version of the X360. Even though the entry level X360 only comes with 4GB of flash storage, it is plenty for game save storage, especially since there are few mandatory installs.

A person buying a 16GB PS3, isn't likely to be playing more than a couple games at a time anyway, so 16GB is more than adequate. This system certainly would not be appropriate with a PS+ subscription, since that would fill up the space very quickly.

Dude, don't beef your ecoli with me. I'll do whatever the teletubby I feel like doing. If i want my $200 PS3 tomorrow, I'll get it tomorrow.

I'm still trying to decide. My PS3 has had it's issues, and now it's gotten to the point where it freezes and the screen just goes black. So I know I'll need to replace at this point it, since I've tried everything possible to fix the issue. Just not sure if I should get another or just go for the super slim.

Yes, exactly. It seems like some people get some identity validation by commenting on a thread on a video game deal site. Just picture the people sitting in front of their screen, seeing the perceived non-deal in the "Deals" section and then saying "Unbelievable" with their palm to their head. Very serious matters concern these fellows...

I doubt anyone threw in a $50 GC with the $200 BF consoles, the ones with giftcards were $250 at least, and had different games.

Amazon and BB just had the $200 BF deal (which sold out pretty fast) no GC included. Tax @ amazon this year is going to ruin alot of deals.

How soon do the ad leaks usually come? End of Oct or early Nov? I wish I knew what to expect before i buy the ACIII bundle on Oct 30

I'm also troubled by this. I sold my 120gb at gamestop while the double credit is on, but waiting till black friday is harsh. I'm probably going to spring for the ACIII bundle. People please try to talk me out of it.

Here's my reasoning:
Last year, there was no big deals I can remember on the 320gb models.
You can sell ACIII while it is still a new release for more cash towards the investment.
At 500gb, you'll probably never have to upgrade again.
It's smaller and lighter, making it easier for me to move which will happen next year.
I have $110 credit on PSN and looking to take advantage of the 20 bucks back promo.
New DS3 controller as mine was getting a bit worn lol.

There's plenty of crappy threads already, no need to add to the pot.

Yes, these bundles are almost definitely happening, but it just seems pointless to muddy up the pages with rumormongering and speculation.

You can say what you will about people being upset in front of their computer monitors, or whatever kind of veiled insult you want to blanket the users here with, but the fact of the matter is that we're all part of the same community. Don't look down on the rest of the people here because you want to pass yourself off as being above the guidelines everyone else here follows.

Have you tried using the PS3's safe mode menu to see if doing one of the options listed there might help with the freezing?

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2009/10/14/keep-your-ps3-safe-with-this-guide/

Try doing either option 3 or 4 from the list on the safe mode screen. See if that helps before just going out to buy a new PS3.

^ Thanks for the link. I'll back up everything first and then give a shot, and hopefully it works since I definitely want to keep my PS3 and not have to resort to that.

You're welcome. I'd suggest that anyone else having freezing issues with their PS3 to try the info at that above link before just buying a new one. I know I made the mistake of not knowing about the PS3's safe mode and turned in my 40gb PS3 for one of the first slims.

I tried the safe mode thing you're talking about and my ps3 was still freezing. That's to be expected though, I bought it used....in 2009

I also upgraded to a 500gb but I did it recently so I still had my HDD. I feel your pain man, it was hard to let her go. She had served me well for many years and many hours :(

If it wasn't for black friday I honestly would not of traded it in to GS, 100% promo or not. Hopefully this deal pulls through. Just have some extra cash to spare+gift card to Gamestop and I need another ps3 to go with the Playstation 3D Display I got on the Best Buy deal.

Damn and the UC3 bundle comes out in a few days. Im not sure if I can hold out another month. Im thinknig with just going for that bc I think it will be of better value to me. I already own UC and Infamous games and already plan on getting ACIII. Plus 250gb wont be enough for me so Id have to buy a new HDD anyway. Still $200 is quite attractive

Yes people can hook up PC's to their TV's if they wish, yes you can use ps3 or 360 controls to play skyrim and most other games wired or wirelessly and yes PC gaming is cheaper in the long run.

Also really your family wants to be around you while you play a single player game called Skyrim, please. Right...
