To Denver, good game, but I can't help feeling that Denver didn't beat them, the Patriots beat themselves. The Pats stopped the run, the secondary played well, and Brady was moving up the field at will, at times. But 5 turnovers, 24 points on turnovers. Faulk fumbles on 2nd and 2. Hobbs fumbles on a kick return. Brown fumbles on a punt return. Denver did pressure Brady into some bad throws, and they should get credit. But if they have 5 turnovers against the Saints, they'll lose. The Patriots gave this game away.
It takes a good team to take advantage of their opponents' mistakes, which Denver did extremely well. They do better defensively as the other team pushes them back into their territory. Plummer did well to try to make good decisions and not make bad passes. Neither team did well on the running game, but Denver managed to do it well in the goal line. What do the Saints have to do with anything?
One thing im worried about with the patriots is their aging LB Core.
Most of the ancient guys retired last year, Ted Johnson and Roman Phifer. Those were both unexpected. Bruschi, Vrabel, Colvin, McGinest are the core. McGinest is the oldest at 34, but he's playing the best football of his life, and he only really needs to be a part time player since Vrabel and Colvin are also outside linebackers. Bruschi is 32, Vrabel is 30, Colvin is 28. The Pats could use an inside linebacker and may address this in the draft, though Vrabel moved inside this year and reportedly liked it, once he got used to it.

There are question marks in the secondary, starting with Rodney Harrison, he is expected to make a 'full recovery', but we'll see. Ty Law might be back, the Jets will cut him. If not, they'll get a corner, they need one.

Running back is an issue, Dillon is a question mark for next year, he wasn't the same guy this year. Maybe he heals up and turns it around next year, maybe not, we'll see, but they absolutely won't be drafting a running back in the first 3 rounds.

The Offensive line wasnt the same either, so maybe its not fair to pin it all on dillion.
HEY DAFOOMIE....

Nah Nah Nah Nah....HEY HEY HEY....Goooooodbye!

I don't even need the Colts to win a Superbowl now, as long as the Pats are sitting at home crying.
If it's one thing about the Patriot's, they won't be home crying. If anything they'll be using this as motivation for next year. I'm still proud of what this team did these past 4 years and nothing can ever take that away from them. Oh and in order to win a superbowl you need to at least make it there.

Not much to take advantage of when you fumble twice on kick returns in your own territory. The interception in the end zone was caused by pressure on Brady, credit Denver, they pressured him all night. The 3 fumbles were completely unforced, Troy Brown just dropped it untouched, Hobbs and Faulk just weren't careful with the ball.

This isn't about taking credit away from Denver, all that matters is the score at the end, not how you got there. But the Patriots did exactly what they set out to do, they shut down the run, and Brady marched up and down the field. 3 stupid mistakes cost them the game. It seems like every time the Pats had momentum and were driving down the field, they turned the ball over. Denver scored 3 points that weren't the direct result of turnovers.

The offensive line played fine, even with the injuries. Dillon was hurt most of the year and wasn't the same. If he heals and returns to form, great. If not, thats a hole to fill. But, the offensive line for next year is pretty much set, maybe they could use a veteran guard for depth, but they're fine.

Givens is a free agent this offseason, and he'll be missed if he leaves. Him and Dillon are the questionmarks on offense.

32 days until pitchers and catchers.
It's just really fucking annoying to hear these fair-weather bitches all the time. I lived in Seattle in 99' when Kitna was their QB. Did the games sell out? No, fuck even when they got the new stadium people didn't come. Just really annoying, besides wtf is a Seahawk?
Ahhh well that I can understand, but most team fans are like that. How many SF fans do you see now days?

Mainly it's nice to turn on the news Sunday night and not hear about the latest Seahawk slaughter and see all the dissapointed real fans come monday morning.
Colts fans are the most arrogant pieces of shit that have never won anything, that I've ever seen. Come talk to me when you win something..
A shit load, their games have been selling out since the late 80's :booty:.

And to your other question, I hate them becuase they are in the same division as the 49ers. But its not the kind of hate like I have for the Packers, Raiders, or Cowboys, they haven't earned it.
Congrats to the Denver faithful, and to hell with the poor sportsmanship some are showing in this thread.

Great run, Pats. Even after the writing was on the wall, with three minutes left in the game, there was still the feeling (even spoken by the commentators) that it still wasn't over as long as Brady and the Pats had a say in it. That speaks to the respect everyone has for the team, even in defeat.

Looking forward to tomorrow's action, if it's anything like tonight's.

P.S. Go Bears. There, I had to squeeze it in somewhere.
Indeed this has been one shitty year for me as far as my two teams are concerned (Vikes and Pats). Well... at least the Pats made the playoffs so I shouldn't bitch too much but man......... the less I can say about the Vikes perhaps the better, right?

Anyone seen that commercial from NFL Network. "Five Months Ago"

"Without Randy Moss, Vikes going all the way"

"I love my Bears, but their gonna do horrible"

"Chad Johnson? Who's that?"

"Drew Rosenhaus is a great agent... he sure knows how to manage money!"

To elaborate on the Vikings one a little... they may have edited it....

"Without Randy Moss, Vikes are going all the way... it will be smooth sailing from here on out."

In reference to the sex boat!

They took advantage of the good field position and scored each time that they got the turnover, that's what good teams do. I wasn't surprised at all at seeing Brady being pressured the whole game, as that's what happened last time when Brady said it was the worst beating he had ever taken in his career, it just got to him at the worst moments. So when Sauerbrun tackled the returner and knocked the ball loose, that wasn't forced? If he didn't get a game ball for his excellent play kicking and defending, then Shanahan didn't pay attention. Lynch, Bailey, Wilson, Rod Smith, Jake Plummer, and Mike Anderson all should've gotten game balls as well for their great play.

The key to the game was the run game, Denver's came through when it needed to (in the red zone) and New England's didn't. No matter how many passes Brady made, he had no run to shake things up. Denver had the better RZ defense, and that's what won them the game. They wouldn't let NE walk all over them within that last 20 yards, but the NE defense couldn't say the same thing. It's all about opportunities and Denver took their chances and the Pats missed damn near everyone one of them. This is not nearly 100% NE's loss like you're playing it out to be, as I'd say 50% their loss and 50% Denver's win.

This is a hurdle Denver had to get over, but it's definitely not the last. Now people can take Shanahan seriously in the playoffs again and he should take the opportunity to make sure to not spoil it this year. Next week's game will be a great game regardless of who Denver has to face. I'd like to see them face Indy and show them how much they've improved from their last two visits and bring home the AFC title. :applause:

steelers over colts??? no way in hell carolina is not going to chicago in january outside and winning. Bad news for colts Nick harper is questionable now after his wife stabbed him in the knee requiring stitches can not aford to lose starters at this point in the game

Too bad it wasn't Jason David instead. What a piece of shit that guy is.

Ok PAD and any other Steelers fans. The Colts are getting their azzes kiked. The games in alittle more than an hour. I think the key to win is for the D to pressure Manning, get him rattled and stuff. It'd be cool to see some more great trick plays aswell. ROCK AND ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Too bad it wasn't Jason David instead. What a piece of shit that guy is.
Haha...I swear that guy gets beaten badly at least once a game. I feel like celebrating everytime he makes a play, it's such a surprise.

Wasn't Rhodes also involved in a domestic dispute with his wife at some point? I think he was assaulted by her at one point as well. Happened to another Colt as well, I think.

After having watched the Denver game, my now favorite Patriot player is Ben Watson. Damn that guy ran the length of the field and had max effort. From a TE. That was really impressive.

We weren't watching the same game.

When a punter hits you and knocks the ball loose, its YOUR fault for not holding on to the ball. A punter should not be knocking the ball away from anyone.

Lets go through this, step by step. The first Denver touchdown was off the unforced Faulk fumble at the NE 40. Then Denver got that phantom pass interference call, and got the ball at the 1. Every team should be able to run it in from the 1 in 4 tries.

The kickoff after the score, Hobbs fumbles at the NE 39. 3 and out by Denver, they get a FG.

3rd quarter, Brady gets intercepted in the end zone due to Denver getting pressure on him, returned 99 yards to the NE 1. I thought he fumbled through the end zone, but the video was inconclusive and letting the ruling stand was the right call. But, again, 1st and goal from the 1, TD Denver.

4th quarter, Troy Brown muffs the punt at the NE 15 with nobody within 10 feet of him. 3 plays later, TD Denver.

So, 2 Denver TD's were freebies from the 1 yard line after the offense did nothing to get there. 1 TD was when they got the ball at the 15. 1 FG was after a Denver 3 and out when they got the ball in field goal range. Thats 24 points that Denver's offense did nothing to get. The only drive that Denver actually went down the field and scored on, was a FG with 3:24 left in the game. The only time that Denver's offense actually drove and got into the red zone, the Pats stopped them on 4th and 1 at the NE 3. I don't see how you can give credit to the Denver offense for scoring twice from the 1, and once from the 15, any team should if that field position is giftwrapped for them.

The key to the game was the unforced fumbles by NE. If one of the fumbles doesn't happen, or that horrible pass interference call doesn't happen, its a completely different game.

But like I'm trying to tell you, the only thing that actually matters is the score at the end. Nobody can take credit away from Denver for winning, but don't even try and tell me that their offense had anything to do with this.

game is over!!!!!! I am a colts fan all the way but they look like some grade school team on offense. There have been severall bull shit calls against us so far Hell ward had his hand in the mask for 3-4 yards and call was against us, they jump and call against us. Game is over

colts had better figure out how to score second half defense need to elimante all the wide open receivers as well. on another note neither team as they played first half are gonna be able to beat the bronco's
Big Ben playing like a pimp. Peyton Manning..proving why he's a choker.
not hard to play catch when defense leaves your receivers wide open. bet ben is licking his wounds as he took some healthy hits.

Wow, this is a nice surprise from the Steelers, I was worried Indy would run all over them. I guess it's nice to see that my prediction of another Manning choke-off was correct.
Man, Peyton had some balls to overrule Dungy on that 4th down play. Gotta give him credit on converting it.
HUGE balls

bigball7sw.jpg

It takes balls like that to be a champion.

And I'm referring to the two 4th down conversions.

And then Cowher shows no balls by playing it safe and running the ball, and not trying to get the 1st down. Could have put the game away. Thank god Pittsburgh isn't at home, or they'd have blown the game already. Not having home field is probably the best thing that ever happened to them.
Cut that meat! Cut that meat!

Thats a clear interception, though it'll probably be challenged here. Same old Peyton.
Can't blame Peyton for that one. It was a nice pass, but Troy came out of nowhere like Speedy Gonzales. He's impressed the hell out of me today.

The defense they ran was designed to do that. And yeah, he's been great today.

Who is Peyton on the phone with? Is he calling the league to get this call overturned?

I'm the first one to admit - that was an interception. Colts are probably going to lose and its all Peytons fault.
