I had to argue with GS employee today and threaten to call the DM, he opened the box of skylanders in front of me and the first one was a gold Chop Chop, I walked away happy!!! If he would have opened it in the back and put it on the side that's one thing but try and snipe it right in front me. >_<
He wanted to keep it for himself.
Lmao! That's crazy. I lucked out; like I said, my guy actually pointed it out to me as if to try to sell me on the idea of purchasing it!

Thanks for leaving a Cynder, and Double Trouble for the next guy.

Like it really matters to you. Sheesh people around here get so uptight about shit like this. Kind of getting borderline annoying if you ask me.

Unless you're trying to sell them, I see no reason to get those 'special' ones. I find their paint jobs rather ugly when compared to their normal counterparts.

Are the SKUs for the individual figures all the same on your receipt? On GS.com, you can't use the stock locator to find specific singles, so I'm wondering if they group them all under the same SKU like Best Buy does.

It does matter, because that's how they end up getting gouged on Ebay for $100+ while people that want to buy and use them or give them to their kids can't find any because they aren't able to get by a store in the middle of the day when El Hoardo is buying everything out of the box.

Seriously, we all like good deals, but dammit stop trying to turn a buck at the expense of your fellow gamer that would use it. I've spent a couple weeks of store hopping trying to find some figures and an adventure pack for my son's birthday that is coming up in a couple weeks. What is annoying is hearing a clerk tell you they are sold out because some guy bought a basket full of them a couple hours earlier when a shipment came in is annoying. I hope you gougers get scammed on Ebay.

I got these to help some fellow CAGs, I have a job that pays my bills. I've never even sold an item online but that really doesn't concern you or anybody at that matter. I can certainly tell you which CAG I won't be helping.

I don't want your help, I want you to leave the ones you won't personally use at the store so people can find and buy them for retail price. If you want to help, that's a good start. Because the store won't make a big deal about who they consider "worthy" to sell to out of the "kindness" of their heart. How is that different from the employee that wanted to buy the gold Chop Chop which you threatened his job for wanting to buy it himself? Can he not use his own money he earns from his job to buy it and sell to people he considers worthy? Or is that just ok for you?

I actually got lucky found the ones my son wanted for his birthday today. They had 4 Empire of Ice and several of the new characters at Wal-Mart that would be worth a ton, but I bought one because that's what I will use. You don't have to like me for the message, but remember when you pick up and arm load to sell to your "friends" online it's the parents that don't have time to scour stores or read CAG all the time that are going to miss out. Every time a store gets cleared out by people buying armloads, even if it is for helpful reasons, all it does is encourage those that are going to Ebay them that they are going to rake in a fortune because they are so hard to find. And maybe next time that Gamestop employee goes through the box in the back of the store instead of in front of you and clears out all the good ones you want.

And now this thread will be closed for going downhill and way off topic.......fast

Went by Best Buy tonight & they had restocked - one new triple pack (Whirlwind/Double Trouble/Drill Sergeant), 2 Cynders and quite a few of the individual Whirlwind/Double Trouble/Drill Seargent's.

This is so old. Just get over it and keep looking. I still havent been able to get a single damn one of the new figures aside from a set I ordered on Amazon. Where were you when Amazon had them? You have to try if you want them it's really that simple.

I dont feel a bit sorry for you mostly because you complain and feed bs like I should feel such sorrow for my "fellow gamers" but also because 99.999% of you hypocrites would do the exact same thing given the opportunity. What if you happened on a couple of extra and they were worth $250 each? $1000 each? The point is you almost certainly have a price where you'd be doing the exact same shit.

Also Zap, Hex, and Dino Rang triple pack is in stock at Amazon.

Stop being a socialist and learn to love a free economy. Not our fault you "parents" are too "busy" to get to the store before a hoarder. You just suck at shopping.

If, re-selling and hoarding were true free market activities there would be a risk of loss in the investment. There isn't, if the item doesn't sell at an increased price the hoarder simply returns the product to get his money back from where he purchased it. Free economy?!? Pfft.

I am not sure if this is serious or not, but I couldn't agree more with what is stated here. We live in a free, capitalist society, where those who have the means to buy a thing can do so. Whether that is time, money or shopping skills doesn't matter. Stores have no incentive not to let hoarders buy up as many of these things as possible, and hoarders have no incentive not to try to make some easy money. This is our system at its purest.
edit:and I am no hoarder. I just don't get the outrage at people who are. They beat you it and bought it, happens all the time with all kinds of products. No big deal.

This is one reason I wish stores would be like "look, you are not returning 20 copies of that shit here so don't even think about it."

The reason for outrage is people feel entitled. Heaven forbid other people buy the hot have to have item because someone else is unable and/or too lazy to search high and low.

If that entitled person earlier in the thread really wanted to get one for his son, then maybe trying harder would produce a better outcome. But instead he was bitching because someone else managed to snag a bunch. But since skiizim snagged more than one of 2 of the figures, he is automatically a hoarder.

Back on topic: Snagged the last 3 of the last 4 at my gamestop. Ordered 4 more from amazon but am still on the hunt to get a Cynder.

YES! I found and bought 1 single pack each of Drill Sargeant, Double Trouble and CYNDER!!! :D

For all the SF Bay Area CAGs,
Union City GS got a shipment of 7 today and only has a Flameslinger left.
Newpark Mall GS got a shipment in today and only has a Whirlwind left.
San Mateo TRU has restocked, but all the figures and 3 packs are the ones from the previous releases.

Ok, good luck everyone! May you find some Skylanders!

The problem with your whole rant is that you think shopping is something that's hard to do.

It's not.

thanks for the update. San Mateo Target is my local one so if you ever strike gold there feel free to post away. :)

I did stop by the San Mateo Target tonight. Nothing there. I think the best place to get the new Skylanders is GS. The major retailers don't seem to stock the new ones as regularly as GS.

Sams club is out already.

The part of hunting that pisses me off is that I've been to the same stores literally a dozen times. Day before yesterday I called the one and they didn't get any in. Walked in yesterday and some kid had cynder, drill, and whirlwind reserved. So when did the mysterious box come in? Not to screw the kid over but I seriously thought about bribing the GS guy or calling the DM because of a greater than 1 day hold.

Still not that big of a dick though. Lets hope for karmas sake O find'm again for myself.

Cool. I think you are the first person to mention finding Cynder somewhere other than Gamestop. Good to know.

It annoys me to no end to see hoarders scoopin' up all of your guys fun. At my job, we put up a ton of the new Empire of Ice 3-packs the night before yesterday and then yesterday morning a guy comes in and scoops up about ten of 'em along with an equal amount of perfectly sized cardboard boxes which leads me to believe them things are going straight onto Ebay.

Umm no, not entitled, just can't spend 24/7 going from store to store. It isn't "laziness" it's called having a job. BTW, it's not socialism to just expect that people not consume way more than they personally need - if you think it is then I would suggest an 8th grade social studies class and not Fox News. Having consideration for others is not a character flaw, and it is supposed to be what this site is all about. That's the problem here and in general, not the desire to find a good deal or track down a rare item, it's the greed and hoarding to not just track it down but also to grab as much as you can then thumb your nose at others for not being "good enough". When you grow up, you will discover this world doesn't exist solely for you and video gaming isn't just for those that can spend every waking hour tracking down teh deals - that's what I would call "entitled". And yes he is a hoarder because he bought more than he would personally use, not an extreme case, but yes it is.

As far as whether I would do that, no - like I said I found exactly what I was looking for, heaven forbid I comment on the general ridiculousness of this. I also bought one Empire of Ice and 1 Triple Pack, despite the opportunity to clean the shelves off for mad profits. So no, not a hypocrite. And no, not looking out only for my own selfish needs. And it isn't just Skylanders. Recently many threads (Best Buy Mega Deals, in particular) have turned from notification to fellow CAGs of good deals into let's see how I can twist store policy and come up with the best way to flip a few dollars into my pocket, multiply it times as many times as they will let me get away with, then brag about it. Greed ruins things for everyone. ToysRUs has already jacked up Skylanders prices due to all this, I wouldn't be surprised to see others follow.

As far as being topical, the stated deal in the title has been dead for two days. Stump Smash and Sonic Boom are both out of stock, so this thread turned into a discussion thread long ago. You are the one that turned this into an argument when you flatly stated that you were "annoyed" by a single, short comment on someone that clearly bought out an entire shipment, and threatened an employee's job for wanting to buy a rare one for himself. Instead of just letting it go you wanted to wade in and manage others and moderate opinion. You added the commentary.

BTW, you might have been able to find Cynder if people weren't buying them three+ at a time. I'm sure you would have appreciated it had you been to the store after me, since I left them for the next guy. Just sayin'.

I wish I had time to respond to all of this but I have a job too. Plus I want to hoard some Skylanders later. Anyways, you're wrong about the nature of this site. This site is about one thing: CheapyD making money. Don't pretend this is some non-profit forum where people just come to spread good vibes and stroke each other. You might want to reconsider your involvement here. Clearly you do not fit in.
By "here" I mean America.

Skiizim was nice enough to PM me asking if I wanted what I needed at cost + shipping. So him helping out a fellow CAG makes him a bad person folks. :shame:

Also the next time I see any Skylanders, I will be sure to "hoard" them when I think about your stupid argument that people should only buy what they are going to use. (I'm actually picking a few specific characters for one of my xbox buddies who has been looking everywhere for 2 characters but you know I am actually hoarding to resale).
Not really.

Can a mod please kill this thread already? All that's left are people just bitching now. They are hard to find, hoarders & scalpers will be a-holes. Let's move on.

It's not the thread that needs killing.

FYI, not that anyone cares but the Target in Bowie, MD just stocked what little they had. I grabbed one cynder and the ONLY 3 pack of Whirlwind they had.... they had 2 whirlwinds, 2 drill sgts, 2 double troubles, 2 flame slingers, 1 chop chop, 1 cynder in the box. The 3 pks were 1 whirlwind, 2 hex, 2 eruptor. They also had 1 Ice adventure, 2 pirate, 2 darklight.

I don't know if these numbers are the usual or not but they appear to be.

P.S. I could have been a dick and considered buying them but honestly after everything I've gone through to get these... I kinda feel like leaving them there for someone else gives me better karma.

There is all kinds of awesome in these two posts alone.

Move out of the country from a guy that clearly does not understand what socialism actually is, but thinks he can describe who does and does not "belong" in his country.

And, well the second just wants people dead for just discussing the whole "greed" subject.

I missed out on the newest shipment to my Target by minutes. I was walking in while a guy was walking out with three bags of singles. The store hadn't even put them out yet. All the new boxes that would have had Cynder/Double Trouble were empty by the register while the boxes of the Dino-Rangs/Wrecking Balls/etc. were left.

This isn't a cry for sympathy, just an observation that this Skylanders business isn't for the weak. This guy in his skin tight Earnhardt Jr. racing jacket looked intense and projected a sense of "don't even bother checking other stores, I was already there."

I'm kicking myself for not just ordering them when the Double Trouble triple pack and Cynder were available on Amazon. Hopefully in a month or two the newest ones will be common.

I'm also kind of mad at myself for feeling down for not getting a $8 toy/video game accessory.

Finally, I think there should be one Skylanders deal thread since there are tips popping into multiple threads.

Not to poke the bears or anything, but I'm just wondering how much of a profit can the hoarders be making on these on eBay? The triple pack is 20 on amazon. If you sell it for like 30 like most seem to be going for after the about 15% ebay fees and 3% paypal fee you are making like 5 bucks.

It just seems like a situation where it isn't worth it. I noticed people kept mentioning the Cynder one - that one does seem to command a higher price than the rest I guess.

I think it is funny that a pretty good game series from the PS1 has now morphed into like a Pokemon game.

You read me wrong. By killing I mean "virtually" and I'm anti-hoarding.

Finally found a wind character in-store but it was in a 3 pack and I already have wrecking ball and Sonic Boom is getting delivered monday from Amazon. LOL me
