Slick's Wrestling Thread

So, both Triple H and Cena are taking some time off? Sounds good to me. Too bad I can't remember who's on what show anymore or I'd speculate about their next feuds.

The pre- and post-WM PPV's are generally throwaways. It sounds like tonight was different. Wasn't WM only 3 weeks ago? Regardless of how good this PPV was, I'd be willing to bet that the buyrates will be pretty low.

EDIT: Edge wins again? How original. Only the WWE could make live wrestling look like a rerun.

Is there any place online to watch the PPV? I gotta check it out.

Damn. I gave up on trying to find a stream, thinking the PPV would be lame, only to find out that Orton and Edge both won their matches. :'(

I like to think I willed that into existence by skipping WWE for the past three weeks

WTF was with the HHH/Orton match? Big time botch. There was no reason for Orton to lose at Mania. He should have won the belt there.

Keep up the good work? Pretty please?

I had to go to sleep for work but we all knew that HHH was going to lose based on the stipulations because they never let him lose cleanly. Cena on the other hand is a toss up because one minute he can't be stopped then he'll get his ass handed to him by someone.

Backlash is often a "this is what should have happened at Wrestlemania" PPV, so I guess I'm not too surprised at what happened. Two bad guys winning the main events was an interesting change of pace though.

Come on, if that had happened you would at least have to admit it was surprising. Plus it would be fun to hear Vince knock TNA for using baseball bats or whatever but then ignore the horse money shot.

They might as well just call him Test and further deny that Andrew Martin ever existed :D Sadly, not too many people would notice

im assuming its a work but WWE is reporting matt hardy broke a hand during his match last night, didnt see the ppv so who knows whats true

Lance Hoyt, whose biggest claim to fame in TNA was playing Guitar Hero acoustic, gets a WWE contract?

I hope he debuts as "Pop Quiz".

Lance Hoyt always kinda came off to me as a better version of Tomko. He's fairly agile for a big dude , too bad he's also pretty vanilla.

Stay away from drugs.

or maybe I shouldn't?:whistle2:k lol

for clarification though , were you disputing that Hoyt is better than Tomko , or that Hoyt was good at all?

Also , was the general consensus that the PPV last night was actually pretty good?
I just realized that if Triple H & Cena are taking time off, wouldn't that mean we would have to put up with a Orton/Roid-tista feud?:wall:
Most people are thanking the heavens that we get time with both Cena AND hhh off the screen at the same time. Just bad luck that we happened to get the return of Batista to coincide with their departures.

The latter. Tomko impressed me in his TNA run. If I were a promoter I don't think I'd ever put a title on him, but with a good manager he could be in a Kane/Scott Steiner "perpetual uppercard jobber" spot that was actually believable.

Backlash sounded like a helluva show. I saw some stills of Cena being thrown into a spotlight, and it just looks hella corny though. The fireworks and fire sound like the writing crew had some kind of Wile E Coyote/Road Runner fetish going on. They could have just dropped Cena off a cliff, or tied him to a big red rocket that went straight to the moon, and it would have been just as pausible.

That said, based on the matches on the show and how they went, I would have spent $25, but not $40. I would only pay that much for Wrestlemania, and that's only if it's really good.

I thought the spot looked great in motion, much more impact than these sorta spots usually have. Big Show's slam really went a long way. Much more forceful looking than Cena getting pushed into the Limo windshield by JBL, or any time Kane has gently nudged someone off the stage by their neck.

Wrestlemania 25 is being released on Blu-Ray 5/19

Sorry, I'm watching Raw tonight so I hope you enjoy a 20 minute HHH promo, Orton jobbing to Linda McMahon, Cena taking MitB from Punk and the show fading to black with Cena holding his title high for all of his CHAINGANGSOLDERSRAPADOOOOOOOOOO

The prospect of two young stars feuding for the WWE title..?

Am I watching the right channel?

May 19th = the day "See No Evil" was released which brought us that angle Kane had.

I still don't understand why they had Festus beat Kane at a PPV, and then they bury that whole angle the very next night on Raw after spending weeks on a slow build-up. #-o
