Bob Holly is a legit bad ass. I'm pretty sure he could kick 98% of the WWE locker rooms ass if he wanted too. I think the shoot will be good, he's been there for years.. so I'm sure he has some good stories

They said the same thing about Bradshaw before Styles kayo'd him. He has a badass image that was created by the company. His little Tough Enough incident shows he's an insecure prick and a bully. Insecure prick bullies are generally not nearly as tough as they'd like you to believe. He's also pretty stupid to try fucking with Brock in the middle of a match like he did  ...although I guess that got him his one career PPV main event.

He's obviously not someone to be trifled with if you're just Joe Average off the street, but I doubt some random midcard WWE employee like Shelton or RVD or whoever were constantly on their best behavior around him, thinking "HO SHIT, I BETTER NOT PISS OFF BOB!" Probably more like "Hey, there's Sparky Plugg! Wonder what's up his butt today. Let's go play video games."

Yeah, right.

I guess Holly forgets the fact he did nothing interesting in his 15 years with the company. I'm interested to see how Kennedy got him fired. I'm sure Holly sucking complete ass had nothing at all to do with his release.

I'd post that youtube clip of his awesome music but it seems too late in the conversation for it to still be relevant.

Anybody ever wonder why WWE uses WORLD Wrestling Entertainment when the vast majority of their wrestlers are and have always been American? That and they mainly tour in America. I can assume that this is because it is broadcast around the world, but still. I think it's because adding " world " to something makes it more cool. WORLD heavyweight title ( even though only won and defended in US by Americans ).

Same thing w/ MLB's World Series.

America is the center of the universe.

And WWE likes to use racial and ethnic stereotypes from all around the globe, so they show that they are, truly, a global corporation.

Razor Ramon, Frenchie Martin, Kamala and Kimchee, Virgil's entire gimmick, The Matador (wasn't Santana Mexican and not Spanish?), Ludvig Borga, Koslov, Santino (who was Russian at first, no?)

I'd pull Virgil - we're looking for international racism.

If I had the time and effort, I'd hunt down some Saba Simba matches on Youtube. Listening to Vince McMahon scream about how Tony Atlas was "going back to his roots" would be priceless.

Santino's American.

Kofi Kingston is from Ghana.

Buncha Canadians in there.

Mysterio is from the southwest, so I guess that makes him Mexican.

Umaga is ethnically Samoan, but probably from the Bay Area like most of the wrestling Samoan family historically. Definitely a US citizen, for what that's worth.
I still laugh at how inappropriate Heenan calling Santana's forearm the "flying burrito" was.
What's even better was *ahem* Governor Ventura constantly referencing Tito sellin' lettuce off the back of a truck in Tijuana.

It basically explains that in the item I posted. Holly was reportedly suspended and sent to rehab when he was caught stealing pain pills from another man's bag. He says Kennedy told him to take something out of Kennedy's bag.
I believe Santino is actually Canadian.
You are correct, sir.
Kamala and Kimchee
Kamala was a creation of Jerry Lawler and Jerry Jarrett. You can blame vince for continuing it, sure, but it wasn't his to begin with.

I saw myself on Superstars a few times. I'm pretty sure I'll be on SmackDown tonight too.

Look for a red shirt and a Lemon sign.

Makes you wonder why they didn't use the Gold Standard gimmick with Kofi instead of Shelton since Ghana is known as the "Gold Coast" rather then have him be from Jamacia.

Also, can't forget Iron Shiek, Mr. Fuji, Tiger Ali Singh, and many others.
Ghana evidently doesn't exist in the WWE Universe.
You would be correct. Its like I always say you can't use actual logic when it comes to Vince and crew because they will disappoint everytime. Actually, I guess they have a point with Shelton since he did go to the University of Minnesota which are known as the Golden Gophers.

Also, JJSP you are correct about Santino when he was starting in OVW they had him from Russia like a smaller version of Kozlov.

I remember this character very very well - so the transition to seeing him as the "comedy guy" in WWE was difficult, when I saw him in squash matches every week. His accent wasn't all that great - I could never figure out if his finisher (standing arm bar) was called the "wheel of steel" or the "riddle of steel."

I'm still waiting for Santino to "snap" on someone and choke the shit out of them. Have someone like Jericho start assaulting Santino for being a joke and then, bam, a million kicks to the face. Also, the Conan the Barbarian and/or Destroyer music in the clip puts it firmly into the epic column.

I'd like to see Santino using a wicked chicken wing submission or something, but I'm afraid he'd come off like a wannabe Taz. He can wrestle, but they're so content with him as a comedy worker we'll never see it unless he goes full blown heel. I know he's supposed to be a heel, but he gets enough cheers that it's almost impossible to hate the guy.

Have him snap and choke out Beth Phoenix or something.

They really ruined Santino.

He's still funny -- but the shit they write for him isn't.

And that unibrow has got to go.

Thanks for the plug myke :D

And like I've said, while I love the current Santino's shtick, I just can't help to wonder "what if?" everytime I see that video.

Kofi had dreads. WWE didn't want to pass up the opportunity.

It cleared my bowels.
What in tarnation did Ziggler do?

I spent the evening drinking beers and watching The Wire instead of Smackdown.
That was time well spent. That is one helluva show. I hate they called it quits. I actually enjoyed it more than The Sopranos.

/me waits to get slaughtered for that last comment.

Destroyed Khali.

Sounds like he said "no one can solve my riddle of steel".

So that was Santino huh? Looks like a smaller, better version of Vladimir Koslov.

Overall, tonight's Smackdown was good. Random musings:

How many poodles had to die to make Morrison's coat?

I like the World's Greatest Tag Team, but I hope they don't stick together. Every couple of years, they get put back together. Charlie Haas's career gets a boost, and Shelton moves down a notch.

I do not like the Punk/Umaga feud. Both guys need a decent winning streak, and whoever loses at the PPV will be hurt by it. Punk especially should not be jobbing in his hometown, but he probably will.

No Kane?

Thank God, they're finally doing Jericho/Mysterio after 7 years. But the Intercontinetal Championship should not be involved. Shelton should win it, but he won't, given the Haas and Morrison deals. The only other heel I could see winning it would be Dolph Ziggler, but I don't expect that to happen.

How crazy is it that the top 4 faces on Smackdown (with Undertaker out for a while)- Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, and John Morrison- are all cruiserweights?

So instead of having Cryme Time wrestle, I don't know, Carlito and Primo, we're treated to some Diva waste of time? :whistle2:s

Gail Kim has some pretty generic music for her entrance. She needs something more catchy. Nothing grandiose like Beth, but something that at least makes me think, "oh hey, Gail's up right now."

While I loved watching Ziggler demolish Khali, I hope that they go the right way with this, and don't turn it into a Ziggler/Khali fued. I've never been too fond of him, but I'd be interested in seeing how far they can run with this.

I missed the first part of Hardy/Edge, so why was Mysterio there?
