I just grabbed the trade values for you.

20 - 112/140
40 - 88/110
60 - 128/160
80 (The model that is BC) - 136/170
80 - 112/140
160 - 136/170

Left side is cash value, right value is trade credit.
wow thats odd how come the bc 80gb is worth more than the 60gb. i would have figured since it had full bc itd be worth more in trade in.

So has it been confirmed what date will it be in stores?

Is it going to be the 24th, 25th, or 26th?

I mean, there's always selling on CL for $200-250 maybe, then grabbing a new system, but that's a snowball's chance in hell since that market is flooding with them now.
I listed mine on Wednesday for 250.00, received a ton of emails by the end of the day, and had 250.00 in my hands by Thursday.

GameStop told me the 25th.
The last PS3 FW update wasn't required.
Perhaps it'll be that way moving forward.
Which one was that? I stopped at 2.60. Honestly it's not about playing online, I just want a few PSN games and disc-based game patches.

Gamestop told me the same thing. When I was pre-ordering it the guy said their initial shipment will be small and he doesn't know when the second wave will come. I do not think the guy is lying about this because it was after i pre-ordered.
:lol::lol::lol: LOL Now everybody is joining in. I'd love to do that, go to GS and trade in the PS3 towards a newer one, if they gave a halfway decent amount.

I'm not trying to 'argue' with anyone, so don't take it as such, but the market is a lil outta whack when it comes to values.

I was just saying that if the hardware companies want people to remain loyal to their brand, they should definitely be doing more to try and maintain that customer base and a trade program would definitely help them.

Why? It would get the systems that're due to break down off the market and away from the used market, where they see NO money from, and it would get another unit sold.
There is no loyalty the way you are referring to it. Early adopters know full-well that they are paying a premium to have the product NOW.

Lotsa resellers around my way though and they expect to get something for $150. Believe me, I'm trying to sell mine to get one that is a bit less power consuming, but people round here expect to get anything for 5% of MSRP cost.

Thus far no bites, but I'm still hopeful.

for the most party the early adopters of the ps3 got the best version.. (60gb). I don't think I'll trade my PS3 in... but I wouldn't mind picking up a Slim and using the 60gb in the living room for blu ray and media purposes. I'm not using BC that much anyway
Which one was that? I stopped at 2.60. Honestly it's not about playing online, I just want a few PSN games and disc-based game patches.
The current 2.76 one.

Well which is it? There's got to be a way to get online for a few things without these utterly useless updates. I was kinda hoping Slim would be the end of them, but we'll see.

why dont you just use the background downloading for the updates at night, or when you're not home... the ps3 will even cut itself off when its done.

Or, rather, when you don't hear it. This was the one thing that Nick and I were most impressed with. This thing is quiet. Scary quiet. "WTF, is it even on?" quiet. Nick thinks the optical drive makes just a bit more noise than the original when inserting or ejecting a disc, but it didn't seem any louder to me. Either way, once your game or movie is in there, the thing is virtually silent.

Pre-ordered mine off Amazon, anyone have any games that I can pick up for like $10 on ebay? To get me started along with my Madden 10 purchase.

Pre-ordered the slim from my local GS yesterday and they said they would be open at midnight tonight to release it.

So are stores, like GS, getting them IN STORE tomorrow Aug. 25th or are stores' sites shipping them starting tomorrow? I plan to just wait until I can go in a store and pick one up so, when can I expect to have the ability to do this?

are there power lights on this thing, ive only seen the HDD and wi-fi indicator lights, if its as quiet as they say a power light would be helpful

Where are you from? I'm from Boston and I just called the one in the prudential center...they're still quoting "sometime this week" with no midnight launch tonight :(

I would imagine the power button has an LED in/under it...

you can download the latest ps3 firmware off playstation.com and install it through a usb drive, or an ipod, or anything with around 150mb of free space. This way it downloads faster and you don't have to leave your ps3 on waiting for it to download. Also I'm not sure if the slims come with the latest firmware so you could download it just incase so you don't have to wait for it to update as soon as you buy it

This was in Mesquite, TX at Kroger Plaza. The store manager told me I could come up there at midnight to pick it up. I dunno if he was blowing smoke up my ass to get me to pre-order or what. That's just what the guy said.

*EDIT*
Looks like a bunch of stores (including this one) are opening at midnight anyways for the Batman release. I will call them later to make sure they will have the PS3s before I go and I will update you guys.

The Gamestop website has now listed the PS3 120GB as "Usually Ships In 24 Hours". So possibly these will be shipping out asap.

I put in a preorder at GS today and canceled my amazon one. I didn't like that I put in my amazon preorder on the 18th, and they weren't going to ship till the 31st which was after other people that ordered later than I did. I was told by an employee that has been cool with me that they didn't get the systems in today (at least at my store) but I'm calling this evening to get more info.

Yeah...I'm pretty sure the east coast is getting them tomorrow. I've called multiple gamestop locations in the Boston area and they all have told me they don't have them and expect them tomorrow. No biggie, but I'll be anxious as hell to get out of work!

I just called 3 local GS (I'm on the east coast) and 1 said tomorrow, 1 said he thinks Wed or Thurs and 1 said maybe tomorrow maybe not...soooo.......lol sometime this week I guess

I called 2 Gamestops and 3 Gamecrazys. The first GS said tomorrow at around 3, the second said hopefully by tomorrow latest by Wednesday. The first GC told me 9/1 initially, but I told him what I heard from the GS around the area and he checked the computer and noticed that his inventory also said 8/25 as a street date but he had no knowledge of the Slims coming into his store tomorrow. The second GC told me the same thing, and the 3rd GC put me on hold to talk to the District Manager and he claimed that the DM told him that the 8/25 date is a computer error.

Dunno who to believe.

Beaverton/Portland area.

Tanasbourne and Washington Square GS

Evergreen Parkway GC
TV Highway GC
Beaverton Hillsdale GC

Called the Mesquite, TX store at Kroger Plaza, to confirm they would be available tonight at midnight as they told me yesterday, but he said they did not get them today and to check back tomorrow after 11am.

Can't wait to see all the Slim pics tomorrow!

EDIT: Hey, I've been to that Kroger Plaza store. Doesn't it still say Funcoland outside of it? :)

Checked on Gamestop Yuma, AZ. They told me that they would receive the PS3 slim by tomorrow, as soon as their shipment arrives. I was told I could pre-order it today and pick it up around noon tomorrow. Just to let you guys know.

Nope, that's the Town Crossing Gamestop. But I go to that one a lot too! The Kroger Plaza one is in old Mesquite at Galloway & Kearney.

why are all of you buying them from gamestop? that is the absolute worst place to buy hardware. if you need to return it for any reason its going to be a pain in the ass. why not get them at bestbuy or walmart?

Because some of us only turn the PS3 on to play a game and don't like leaving it running for longer than we're playing a game on it? I've left mine on recently while surfing CAG on the PC right next to it, but it's rare for me to do that.

Plus, as DP said, most of these updates have been utterly useless crap. I don't know why Sony doesn't give the option to either skip the update altogether if you feel you don't need it or save it for later and still allow you access to PSN in the meantime.

It's either you update right NOW or you're not allowed on the network. Total bullshit.

Maybe they all have cheap credit from flipping and want to use some of it up? As for me, if I had the $$$ for a slim right now, I'd probably just camp out at the local 24 hour Wal*Mart in electronics till midnight, like I did on release night for GTAIV.

Same thing happens on the 360, quit your bitching and move on. Did it ever occur to you that perhaps Sony releases new firmwares for 1. features, and 2. fix bug/problems with previous firmwares?

As I stated before, wasn't the last update, 2.76, optional?

Hopefully it's the trend going forward as to not inconvenience the lazy folk.

Once again, I politely responded to someone else's post and you HAVE to respond to mine like it's a personal affront to you. How dare I question Sony's firmware updates and making them mandatory before I can get on PSN. Seriously, what the fuck is your problem?

First off, lemme say that the 'features' they've added have been total shit to me. Moreover, if they have bugs/problems with prior FW updates, then maybe they shouldn't have released said updates in the first place, no?

It's not that I'm lazy, dallow, but just that I don't feel that I should HAVE to update if I don't want to. None of the recent updates added shit I found useful. I can cancel updates to programs on my computer, so why not on the PS3 as well, since isn't the PS3 essentially just an overglorified computer?

I'm NOT trying to argue with anyone here, but I'm not about to sit here and have someone tell me to shut the fuck up because they don't agree with me. Don't like my opinion, use CAG's IGNORE feature.

Just called GS back and he had no clue when they are gonna get them in. Here's hoping they will show up in tomorrow's shipment.

Some games are dependant on the bug fixes or added features of newer FW.
Which is why, aside from the last update, it's required that everyone be on compatible FW to play online.

I feel like I've said this before.

I called like 5 Gamestop's just now around Boynton Beach, FL and most of them said tomorrow afternoon. One said if its not in tomorrow, either Wednesday and if not that, first week of September. Hopefully these guys are right and not just relaying the rumors they heard online like we are :p

their you go, a pain free solution to your problem. Download the update on your pc, now can we all get along :D

Yeah Woot Miami love major cities.

- Port of Miami very busy port ships coming in
- Miami International Airport 3rd busiest in world

Best Buy manager said the shipments will be in by Wed. WOOT!! that they will hit the warehouse then come in maybe by tomorrow.

FYI, here in MIA alot of forgein tourist are and the British Pound GBP and the Euro are worth more than the U.S. dollar so a PS3 Slim is like half price here, than buying it in London, or Berlin.

anyways, some guy bought 140 PS2's the other day, I was shocked the store even had 140 PS2's on hand.

And that our local store will get 43 PS3's Slims.

Note: ALL of the FAT PS3's $299 sold in 2 days all 40 of them. And the 25 160 GB $399 Models 2 are left.

Thats how fast product is moving.

The PS3 Slim EASILY will get you $400 on Craigslist or ebay on DAY 1, 100% Sell out Nationwide.

So when Gamestop, SEARS, or Walmart or, Best Buy opens. DAY 1 it WILL Sell out with in hours.

Don't expect any on Day 2.

Update: I called 2 Gamestops around Miami. 100% they are getting the SLIM PS3 tomorrow around 12PM

Update #2. ALL Miami Gamestops PS3 Slim on Sale 8-25-09 (probably nationwide) only for Pre-orders each store might have 1 extra for walk in max.

BEST BUY --- Possibly now, Hold Stock On Purpose, even though there is NO STREET DATE, Best Buy most likely will hold stock reserved in back room to tie in With Weekly Ad this Weekend, (just like they have done with the Wii) its in the back but they won't sell it. So the Ad is accurate.

For the person who asked if Target will put the 80 GB on clearance - My store had a Temporary Price Cut sign for it, which means it probably won't go lower than that (hence not clearance). And no, we didn't get it in yet.

Maybe it's just me, but I would feel weird buying a new console from a store that is known for selling used items. I'll end it buying it at work so I can use my employee discount.

When people start receiving their PS3 slims, will there be a new thread for people to talk about their experiences?

The individual game updates I don't mind(save for Battlefield: Bad Company, which had a 200+ mb update, wtf)since they're done in like 5-10 minutes tops, but Sony puts out a FW update and it's the size of a smaller PC game and takes like 20 minutes or more(usually more)most times.

At least if they had a detailed page that came up and said what it might be 'fixing' or adding, I wouldn't mind since I don't keep an eye on the PS Blog that they always gush over the silly FW updates on. But instead it just says 'download this NOW or you can't get on PSN till you do'.

At least if there was an 'uninstall' option for the stuff I don't want on my PS3's XMB, I might not give a crap so much, but this 'you all have to be the same' nonsense is annoying.

Thanks for the option there, jrsmaster411, but I'd really rather if Sony allowed us to pick and choose what stuff we want on our PS3's, since I don't need half the shit on the XMB right now.
