Well PC stands for Personal Computer, which Macs are. Operating system was not specified. So they are in the right. It is really all the marketing from Apple and such that tries to make it seem that Macs are not PCs. It is all about the operating system.
When you buy games, what does it mean when the box says "PC Compatible"? If it meant it worked for any personal computer, we wouldnt also have to look for the "Mac OS" face logo if we wanted Mac compatible software. So if I asked someone if they wanted to buy a game, said it was PC, gave them a Mac game, I'm pretty sure they would say "I thought you said this was a PC game." Right? Indeed PC doesnt include Macs, but in reality many people have a huge misconception as to what PC may mean, which again isnt aided by computer game boxes displaying "PC Compatible" and "Mac Compatible" on them.

Lesson here: they said "pc game" which implied that they would be shipping game software that was "PC Compatible", and not "Mac Compatible." I dont beleive they said anything about Mac software in the description either, did they?

See the problem?

I think people are being way too picky all things considered.

Consider the potential scenarios

A: Based on the wording it was entirely possible that people end up with the same game a bunch of times. It appears that people are getting unique games.

B: It was also possible that, as was mentioned people could end up getting those hundreds of games on one DVD thing. While people have ended up with those, it counted as a single game.

The best case scenario seemed to be that people got unique games from the list of the 30 game deal Stootsi had+the games listed on Ebay+games people got from the last random game deal+what ever else Stootsi had laying around that we didn't know about.

Well, this seems to be exactly what is happening. Yes, there are some games for the Mac. Guess what? Anyone that looked into what Stootsi had would already be aware of that possiblity. What more can you ask? They are shipping them at what has to be close to a loss, they also seem to have people packing the boxes in such a manner that people are not getting duplicates. I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if they had just literally tossed random games in a box and if you got dupes you got dupes.

I don't see how people find room to complain. These games are games that, even at a good deal tend to cost 3-5 bucks. If you're lucky you might find them for a dollar. Stop complaining... Complain if it's been a month and you have nothing. Complain if you get the same game 80 times. But you're buying brand new games by the pound. Try to have a little perspective. I just bought 5 console games for about 15 bucks. I thought I got a pretty good deal. I bought 75 PC games for a little over 20 bucks... that's a crazy deal and nothing I have seen so far would make me anything less than happy with my purchase.

The status for the platinum box got updated today. Scheduled for an August 20th delivery. :applause:

My gamer box on the other hand, is still just billing information received.
UPS Sucks. My Gamer Box is still stuck at Billing Info Recieved and my PC games won't be here until Monday.
Not UPS' fault, Stootsi is really dragging on this one getting these out. I think they got a lot more orders than they expected.

Well I have had the UPS tracking numbers since Monday so UPS has had my packages.
Well I have had the UPS tracking numbers since Monday so UPS has had my packages.
not necessarily. It's like if you shipped a package through USPS, and you paid for the shipping label online. You instantly get a tracking number but it doesn't mean USPS has the package in their hands. Just in this case, you switch you with Stootsi and USPS with UPS.
Stuff
I will admit that PC has become the term people use when they describe a Windows machine but I will argue against you point that a box will say on it PC compatible. Or even Mac compatible. More often then not a box will not have either, usually they will specify an operating system. For instance, many Blizzard game support both Windows and Mac OSes.

Would you hold it against them to send you games for DOS? Windows 3.1? 95? What if the game only worked in it's native OS? Technically, even by your definition those are "PC" games. But it is not guaranteed that they will work in XP or Vista.
Interesting thread. The laptop report is probably bullshit.
Not so much because it is a good item, but more because it is way too early.
A: Based on the wording it was entirely possible that people end up with the same game a bunch of times. It appears that people are getting unique games.
The "wording" said each game would be different. Anything other than that would have been blatant lying on stootsi's part and they would have been raked over the coals for it, deservedly.

B: It was also possible that, as was mentioned people could end up getting those hundreds of games on one DVD thing. While people have ended up with those, it counted as a single game.

I don't think it would hold up well for them legally if they were to charge multiple times for games on one disc. Also, they would have had a BUNCH of unhappy customers, so I didn't consider this much of a possibility at all.

Yes, there are some games for the Mac. Guess what? Anyone that looked into what Stootsi had would already be aware of that possiblity.

Aware of the possibility maybe, yes. But they advertised "PC games" and in the realm of computer software, that is taken to mean Windows compatible software. If that's not what customers are getting, they have a right to make a complaint and be compensated.

They are shipping them at what has to be close to a loss

So what? Not my problem. This shouldn't affect whether people get what they pay for or not.

I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if they had just literally tossed random games in a box and if you got dupes you got dupes.

I honestly don't give a shit what you think is a good deal or not. It's completely irrelevant.

It's up to stootsi to deliver what they advertised for the price they advertised, PERIOD. Anything else is unacceptable, whether they charged a penny, 25 cents, or full retail price. Because someone is getting a "good deal" doesn't mean they should be satisfied to get anything other than what was advertised.

Stootsi just sent out an e-mail saying Gamer boxes will be out by monday.

Fellow Stootsiers-

Just want to keep everyone in the loop as to what's happening over here at the Stootsi compound this week.

By the end of today (Friday), nearly all platinum boxes as well as a large portion of PC Game boxes will have left the building.

Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Gamer boxes should all be completed and out of the building by Monday evening. Stootsi rocks and Disappointing Envelopes will also be completed by Monday.

Again we thank you for your patience - it's been a hectic week!

Keep truckin'

Stootsi.com

So I guess they had a crapload of orders during the smorgasboard and having a hard time catching up. So some patience is needed and understanding as well.

They are suppose to be new. I had one obviously used game, as it had been opened and had a return sticker on it. Most of the games I had no interest in, like the sports and shooter games. I'm an rpg gamer, thats about it.

I'm sure there will be some variation in the gamer boxes. That is what they advertised afterall, and they didn't lie about the games they sent.
Damn, I never knew I was going to have to wait so long to see why everyone got. I am glad I didn't bite though.
Then when the products arrive, after 1 month later of your ordering. Your going to have to sort through out all the 1000 game titles to see if they gave you any duplicate. :applause::applause::applause:

Thanks for the update.

This is BS... I'm pissed I ever did this. And by the sounds of it, it'll be a shitty game. Sucks too because they were decent in the past.

i better not get any psp stuff.....my psp is modded and i got the core pack from launch.....all i need is here already

Finally someone who gets it. :)
For those curious about the contents of the Plat Box, here is my post over at SlickDeals from a comment I found on Stootsi's blog/comments

http://forums.slickdeals.net/showpost.php?p=12532425&postcount=44
Another person on Stootsi posted and received the same thing. If this is "one of the best things" Stootsi has sold, then I don't see myself doing business with them again.

I could probably resell the stuff on Ebay but I don't want to waste the time.

Hrrrm, I'd have to see some of the stuff, but it doesn't sound promising. I wonder how much it REALLY weighs to ship back?

My concern is they're so late shipping that it looks to be arriving right when I'll be out of town for a long weekend (which was a concern when I ordered but I had no idea they'd be almost a week later shipping these than they said). They told me it's 3 calendar days for emailing you want to return, I wonder if I can pre-emptively say I am sad (which I am becoming more and more sad, the more I read. ;) ). If I end up getting something spectacular I can just tell them I am no longer sad. ;) I just hope no one steals the box if it doesn't arrive before I go, as that'd be the worst of all worlds.

I had really started to like Stootsi but honestly, the way this has all been handled has been a big step backwards about them in my head. Seems like they're trying too hard to be Woot but they got in way over their heads on this one. It seems like $50 got us a "better than average" bag of crap (honestly, I have gotten neater/more useful stuff from Woot for $8 than this package, if it's the same, at $55), but nothing truly spectacular like they strongly hinted.

so...

a) w00t/stootsi style deals ship for so cheap (or free) because they use Shipper Saver or other cheap plans through shipping companies to allow this.

b) Therefore, once it IS in the hands of Fedex/UPS/USPS, expect it to take some time.

c) If it is in "Billing Info Received", that just means that Stootsi has made the shipper aware that the item will be shipped with a certain tracking number. Nothing more has been done with the package (I get this with mystery boxes from ThingFling a lot) and can last several days or weeks.

d) How are people complaining about the games they get for $0.25? Did you expect to get GTA and Mass Effect and Fable and other Tier 1 games? Really?

e) Yes, PC means Personal Computer. Macs are not PCs, Macs are Macs. Why do you think Apple pays good money for Mac vs. PC commercials? *boggle*

So far average shipping time has been two weeks its not UPS it is Stootsi they are real slow in giving the actual package to UPS

It's not just the PC games that are taking forever to ship. I was supposed to get my Xbox Network Adapter today, but it still says "billing info received."

wouldnt have a problem with that.. problem would be storeing 1000 pc games. I was going to buy 100 games but then though where the hell am i going to put 100 pc games

personally after today i will never ship anything UPS... i had to return a TRU game and the worker standing there goes dropping off.... and told me just put the game on the cart and then the worker walks back into the back room.

anyone could just walk in and take these packages off the cart and noone would ever know

Dude its not UPS stootsi actually hasnt given the product to UPS yet.

since it seems as if everybody is getting the same thing(2 identical plat boxes on woot blog, many identical games), I really hope the game boxes are something good
Because their target demographic is dumb as a bag of rocks. A Mac is a PC.
While technically a mac is a personal computer (lower case) it is not a Personal Computer (uppercase). PC has been used a term to denote DOS and then Windows-based IBM-compatible systems (as opposed to Macs, and Amigas before them and Apple II's before them and Commodore PETs before them) for decades. Go to a computer shop, even a REAL computer shop (aka, not a "Big Box" store) and ask about a PC... I would almost assure you they would not show you a Mac. I've been in the IT industry for many a year, and the two terms are used seperately by everybody I've ever conversed with when the topic came up.

Sounds like a lot of you haven't ordered from a deal of the day sites, I've ordered from stootsi and woot before and if anything stootsi is better. I've ordered twice from woot and both times it took over a month to get the item, I don't care if it's because of smart post, that's to long. So long as I get it by the end of next week, which won't even be two weeks from when they said it would ship, I'm not going to be mad.

I'm not surprised its taking so long...They did take the week off after all. I'm sure there aren't thousands of people working for stootsi to accommodate the 10's of thousands of orders that occurred during there week off.
I like muffins:applause:
Nicely done. :applause:

I am wondering, where did the August 11th date come from? I was looking at Stootsi's website, during these deals, and never saw this date.
