Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info

I want the CE, but i dunno for what system yet. I would prefer to get it on PS3 just because of the controller would be better for it. But i dont even have a PS3 yet. I have to find a job soon. If i cant get a job soon i guess ill have to settle for the 360 version, and maybe buy one of those SFIV controllers for 40. It will be a last minute reservation, thats all i know. But the main reason i want the CE is for the DLC Alternate attire codes. I love me some alternate attires. :D I just wish we knew how many there are, and what they are exactly. It might not be worth the extra 20 dollars.
Viper figure, online, installing to HD (not sure if the PS3 can), I don't have a PS3 so there is no choice for me, but it'd be my choice regardless. There's plenty of Ryu figures out there. :)
PS3 has online and installing to HD as well. PS3 pioneered installing to a HD for consoles. The 360 will almost undoubtedly have better online, though. That's where the dealbreaker lies.

I am in the same situation, since I want the movie in blu ray but prefer Xbox 360 for live. I guess I will get CE on PS3 and maybe get Xbox version down the road. On the plus side my Saturn pad will be prefect for the game.

It's my understanding that the 360 version does come with an HD bonus game disc with the movie on it, so it won't be standard quality. That's just how it's been written in the product descriptions. I don't think that should be the deciding factor here. I actually just want both figures and I think it's a crap move to separate them.

They are both HD, but I would still prefer the Blu ray that I can watch on any player versus a game disc only for xbox 360

I want Ryu and Blu-ray. Like many here, I'm also tempted to get the CE for PS3 and get the 360 version to actually.

Currently, I have the TE stick and CE for 360 pre-ordered on Amazon.

I can live without the Ryu figure, but I want the movie on blu-ray... I wonder if they plan on selling it separately?

Might have to buy both and than hawk the 360 movie disc as well as the PS3 version of the game. Then keep the 360 version, Ryu/Viper figure and the movie on blu-ray.

They won't charge you until it ships. Meaning your chances of getting it at that price are 0% because they'll charge you what it's priced at last.

They won't charge you. That's illegal. They can't charge you more than what you agreed to pay. They'll either a) cancel your order or b) ask if you agree to the price change.
anyone heard anything about the gamepads i really wanna pick one up on day one.
Yeah i wish they would release more pics, or a video of how the dpad is. Thats the only thing that worries me.

lol exactly...

I was lucky to get this deal literally minutes before they switched it back to $149.99.

So basically the worst that they can do is cancel the order, no harm done though from what I've been hearing things are looking positive as to this actually going through.

It looks like they are just cancelling multiple orders of to the same household but allowing one per customer. We'll see how it goes though.

New video showing off the Street Fighter IV controllers, all 3 kinds that are coming out soon.

http://ces.gamespot.com/video.html?sid=6202965

This video shows off the joypads, which ive really wanted to see. The Dpad remind me of Sega Genesis controllers, which is a good thing. Looks like a good controller, even for those classic games.

Those pads look great. I think I'll just get a couple of those instead of one tournament stick. I know it's blasphemy but I'm a pad guy.

Yeah now i want to get one, for SFIV and that sonic genesis collection.

Actually in the ryu controller pic, it looks somewhat the same as the 360 dpad. I hope not.

My hype for this game is super high. I played it on the arcade last week at Chinatown Fair here in NYC. Like most people I am a casual fighting player. I've decided to change that. I bought HD Remix and am in the process of learning to play the game with Chun-Li as my main. I have the Hori stick and will be upgrading to the TE stick when it is released. If any good fighters want to help me learn SF2 HD Remix, add me!

Trust me, it is NOT like the 360 dpad lol.

As the most experienced authority on this subject. I'll have to say, if you want to experience SFIV on 360 the best (and are a pad player), this is the best way to go.

O cool, check it out more coverage...

Now all that i want to know is...

1. What will the DLC be that comes with the CE?

and

2. Will it be on the marketplace for download for those who dont buy the CE?

Seconded.

Last I heard, the rumored number of extra costumes matched the number of women in SFIV.

5?

Also, those character intros are pretty awesome. Gen looks great.

So, who is everyone thinking about maining? In the arcade version I was pretty good with Sagat, but I think I might switch over to Balrog when the console version comes out. Maybe Gen depending on how he plays.

I'll of course learn everyone though.

Yeah i heard there was 5.
1. Viper
2. Rose
3. Sakura
4. Cammy
5. Chun Li

Sounds like a good theory.

I just read this about the Fightpads.

"An integrated D-Pad switch allows gamers to alternate between D-Pad and Analog Sticks"

So that sounds promising. Being able to switch it to dpad.

Five is what GameStop had listed.

I'll be maining Cammy. She's been my main for well over ten years, so I see no reason to change now. Beyond
BEYOND!!!
her, I really don't know.

So how is the hori ex2 stick for the 360? That, the 150 dollar RAP, and the Te stick seem like the only 360 options. I dont really want to spend $150 on a stick so it may be my only option.

Wait a minute. On those joypads, the 2 buttons other than A, B, X, and Y on the face of the controller are... RB and RT. Leaving LB and LT as the shoulder buttons. Shouldnt it be LB and RB as the other two on the gamepad face? Leaving LT and RT as the shoulder buttons?

I guess i just hoped to use this pad for more than just SFIV, but with no analogs i dont see that really happening unless its retro games. Just seems odd.

I'm not that happy with it. I mean, it IS serviceable, but it just hasn't "clicked" with me. I usually play fighting games on the Nubytech Street Fighter 15th Anniversary stick, and going from that to the EX2 felt like a pretty big step backwards. I'd say you should put your cash towards one of the Mad Catz sticks instead.

Well, by default SF4 layout is exactly as you see it on the FightPad. It wouldn't make sense if it didn't work properly out of packaging.

Also, you CAN use it on other games... there is a switch that enables analog stick functionality... The dpad can act as the LS or RS in addition to dpad(obviously).

If you need two analog sticks at once though, you're stuck.

I was playing HD Remix with my fightpad earlier and it works great with that (just have to change two buttons within the game mapping).

I noticed that, I was hoping it would be RB/LB or RT/LT on the face for games that don't allow you to map the controls. Most notably UMK3.

Still torn between this and the cheaper Mad Catz stick, leaning towards the stick.

I think it's pretty good. IMO, it's leagues ahead of the Street Fighter 15th Anniversary Stick.

I use it for fighters all the time and really enjoy. I've actually bought 2 because I like it quite a bit. For $50, it's a great deal.

HHHHHIIIIISSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! Silence, heretic. You will spew no more vile lies.....

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

I'll be mess around with GGX2#Reload sometime today and will be using the EX2. I don't know why, but I've just never been able to connect with the EX2 in the same way I have with the SF15th stick.

I have the 15th Anniversary Stick and the EX2. The EX2 is much better. I had to open the Nuby stick just to reconnect a couple leads that had come loose on the way to the store. It also feels too bulky for it's weight. The EX2 just has a much better feel and the stick is way more responsive.
^ he helped design the fightpads and arcade sticks
Seriously? Well then i guess he could confirm if the dpad is good, or if its like the 360 dpad in which you end up getting the wrong directions when you are trying to pull off some moves.

But seriously, you did hit on some pretty legit beefs with the SF15th. The EX2's stick does feel more responsive and it is WAY less bulky than the SF15th, but the buttons are shit. Any arcade stick buttons you can press without knowing or intending(which is the case with the EX2 and not the SF15th) are automatically crap in my book. If you rest your finger too heavily on the EX2's buttons, they'll register a press without any "click" to let you know you pressed them.

The EX2 is okay for the price, but I'd definitely wait to see how the Mad Catz sticks turn out before making a purchase.

Button responsiveness is generally considered a good thing. I can all but guarantee you that the buttons in the Fightstick T.E. are going to be highly sensitive.
Which is a good thing.

I totally agree. I just like(and in the EX2's case, missed) the "click" feedback that lets you know when it detected that you pressed the button.

I didn't help with just the design.

I work for Mad Catz and am a Project Director/Manager there. I walked this product through from the ground up.

And the dpad? It is good, I've said it before already. ;)

Do these gamepads have rumble?

Why didnt you make a Guile pad? He was my favorite.

Can i have a job? :)

I have some I think...

No Guile, but hang in there...

No Rumble... SF4 doesn't support it.
