Street Fighter IV - Gen Discussion & Info

Alright so this may seem like a dumb question but is the fight stick really that much better for fighting games? Now I'm considering getting a stick but I'm still not very good at fighting games.

It's not going to make you a better player. Once you get accustomed to it, it'll make your execution better.

The only way it'll make you better is if you can honestly say that the only reason you aren't good at fighters now is because you can't consistently pull off moves.

I'm guessing the alternate costumes will come in packs with 5 costumes each. The CE will probably give you one of those packs.

And watch as the 'good' alts. are split up between each pack.

BETTER. NOT. HAPPEN. CAPCOM.

Uhg you may be right. That sounds a lot more plausible than buying each costume one by one. If they are sold in packs of 5, guessing that Seth has an alternate, then there would be 5 packs. Which means the CE people would get all of them free. Hmmm. Otherwise i could see them selling them in 4 packs, with each row of fighters representing a pack.

The only costume that I saw that I just had to have was the Balrog costume and I'm not even a regular Balrog player. That costume looked badass.

I play just about every fighter that comes out because I thoroughly enjoy them the reason I'm not that good is because I've never really tried to put in to much time to learn characters moves. I'm more or less of a button masher, anyways now with this coming out I actually want to try and get good at the game. Maybe I'll just stick with a fightpad.

I use a pad for all fighting games and it is fine 99% of the time.

Street Fighter has never been a button masher friendly game, as I'm sure you know. Practice with characters timing on their regular hits and special moves as well as developing strategies against other types of players is what makes it such a great game. I still find it funny to play against some of the Akuma scrubs that think just because they can hit Jab, Jab, Forward, Short, Roundhouse makes them invincible.
Because rumble is so vital to fighting games......

Glad they left that shit out.
Guess what? There are lots of 360 games that would benefit from this controller's d-pad, and the lack of vibration will have an impact on those games. Plus if the controller had rumble and you disliked it, you could just turn it off.

I'm fine with no rumble for fighting games. I don't even notice it not being there for most games. The only fighting game you see rumble in is in Smash Bros., and even that is just getting smashed really hard, usually resulting in you being KO'd.

stop giving capcom ideas LOL

My point was that this controller can be used for way more than just fighting games, and rumble could be useful in those other games.

They seem okay. They don't seem worth paying for, though. What I want to see though is ONE downloadable content character.

Here's my premise: On April 1st, for one day only, available for $1 (or 80ms points)...Sheng Long.

I'm also holding out on the costumes. I don't mind paying for extra characters or mulitplayer maps (I know it's not relevant to this particular convo) but I'll be damned if they expect me to shell out cash for the videogame equivalent of a Barbie dress.

Gouken is Sheng Long, dude.

If the costumes are reasonably priced, I definitely want Chun Li's, Zangief's, Guile's, Blanka's, and Balrog's. Ryu's is terrible though.

Exile, if you care about the quality of your control, you should at least mod the Hori with Sanwa parts. I can help if ya need it! :)

maybe I'll just stick with TE stick I ordered. I'm not that good at fighting games but I would really like to give it a try at learning everyones moves this time around.

Also I know I've been chiming in a lot about what controller I should be picking up and just wanted to thank everyone for all the help

Well they already confirmed there will be no DLC characters. Only stuff like costumes and stages.

I have the CE pre-ordered but now I'm probably just going to change it over to the regular edition. The only costumes I really want are for Balrog and Zangief.

There is a new SFIV Premium theme...the banner looks kind of retro. But no idea what it looks like. Thanks to nXe's great preview design flaw. If anyone knows what it looks like, please post it. I really want a SFIV theme but the 1st one sucks.

Also there is a new set of gamerpics with all 5 new characters, Able, Fuerto, Rufus, Viper, Seth for 100 points.

I haven't found any pics yet, but it already sounds better than the first one...

I believe the JLF stick and the OBSF/N 30mm buttons are what you want.

thanks!

does anyone know if the ball caps on the joysticks can be screwed off on the SE sticks?

They should be on the TE stick, not sure about the regular stick though.

Joysticks that will fit in either SF4 stick:

Sanwa JLF-TP-8T Ball Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Way Adjustable
Seimitsu LS-32-01 Ball Handle Joystick, 2, 4, & 8 Way

And possibly the Seimitsu LS-40-01 and Seimitsu LS-56-01, but I would stick with the LS-32-01.

Keep in mind that Sanwa and Seimitsu balltops are interchangeable, so if you like the Seimitsu colors better (they are prettier), you can stick one of their balltops on a Sanwa stick.

Buttons that will fit in either SF 4 stick:

Sanwa OBSF-30 Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch
Sanwa OBSN-30 Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch
Seimitsu PS-14-KN 30mm Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch
Seimitsu PS-14-GN 30mm Pushbutton with Vertical Microswitch (comes in 3 color varieties)

If you buy Sanwa buttons, I recommend the OBSF-30 as snap-ins are more secure than screw-ins unless you have a good wrench.

I wonder if eastx will be able to stop having vigorous sex with his new girlfriend long enough to play this game, since it often prevents him for answering his phone. ;)

thanks EastX!

I might make my own joystick, just for a fun project. I got all the tools and stuff its just a matter of arcade parts!

She's worth it, buddy! And don't forget that you didn't answer the last couple of times I called you.

Furashu, my pleasure. :D

So I haven't really been keeping up with any SF4 news as I'm probably not going to buy it (at least not at launch price), but for anyone who has already played it or the arcade version, how is it?

Which Street Fighter would you compare it to the most?

eastx: you should know about this, very important regarding screw in buttons...

As a heads up Sanwa screw in nuts will not fit in easily around the X (PS3) / A (360) button due to the stick bracket blocking the way. However a Seimitsu yellow screw in nut will fasten a screw in button just fine.

Just a heads up. This is due to the Vewlix panel not having a universal mounting plate to support an LS32. It is something we added on our own. We didn't want to sacrifice the spacing/layout of the stick/buttons.

I reccommend you use snap in buttons, but if you wanna screw, take note!

It's designed for anyone who hasn't played since SF2 to pickup and play. From impressions I've read it's as close to arcade perfect as it can get. Plus since it won't have an official arcade release outside Japan, it's probably your only way to play it.

Heads up on the CE according to Capcom: The CE is sold out and Capcom will not produce anymore, so it will be a ToV/ME value CE instead of something like Madden or GTA.

Um, thanks. I was looking more-so for impressions/comparisons to previous titles.
Why must people always use uncommon acronyms?
I second that thought as well.... IStTaW

what do ToV/ME stand for?
Tales of Vesperia and... Mass Effect?
