Street Fighter IV PS3 Official Discussion Thread

Played some ranked matches online tonight, finally starting to see some different characters used. I fought some Akumas, Zangiefs, Goukens and Rose players. It was an interesting night. Anyone working on a CAG night yet?

I've had a few good online matches, but finding someone with a good connection has been an utter nightmare.

I'd say a good 95% of people that come up in the search lists for me have a 3 or worse network rating. I'm yet to come across someone with a 5 rating too, over all it has been pretty disappointing finding a good solid match.

I've only seen 1v1 lobbies too.

Yeah, I've had trouble joining matches when searching for them. It seems to work better if you turn challenges on and go into arcade mode, and just let people challenge you. Haven't noticed any lag from the few games I've played online so far.

To whoever I just battled for like an hour straight (forgot your PSN name lol) great battles. Was nice playing against someone my own skill level and tradings wins off and on :D

It was some good fun BCF. The sheer variety of characters we were playing was super entertaining. My thumb is worn out.

I just turned off my PS3, I'm clamoring to play some SFIV.
Weird that I haven't run into any quitters yet during ranked games.
Reply when you have it and I'll update the list. Wanting to keep confirmed people with game in hand on the list.

List updated through blinkandprep.
What's this list? Add me to it :D

Also, anyone wanting to play I'm getting on right now as soon as I take off the shrink-wrap and unbox my stick :bouncy:
Anybody have the SFIV Tournament edition fightstick or the regular fightstick? How is it?
i have the standard stick and its pretty great. the buttons are very responsive, none have gotten stuck. my joystick did briefly have some sticking problems, but its prefectly fine now. ive had it for nearly 1.5 weeks and have played 10+ hours on it and 10+ hrs on SFHDR and have zero problems, i can excecute all of blanka's moves pretty well

I'll be on for another hour or two if anyone wants to play. I'm not great but I'm learning!

I have the TE stick and I've been enjoying it. Joystick is pretty smooth and I have an easier time pulling off combos with the stick than on a controller. Only problem I had was a button getting stuck, but the buttons are all perfect now, probably was from the stick still being cold.

:bomb: I just got finished playing games with an E. Honda who trapped my in the corner while spamming the 100 Hand Slap and an El Fuerte who only did the Habanero Dash into a Body Splash over and over.

I've had a blast with this game. I've had trouble finding games with 3+ connect bars, but once I do, its all good. My best guy is Gouken. I've been winning more regularly lately. I still always get my ass beat by Cammy and Blanka. I don't know why.

I don't think we should do a CAG night yet until they add the tournament dlc. it is only 1on1 fighting right now.

anyone unlock all the colors yet? or know how to? I only have 5 colors unlocked so far.

far as the seth thing goes. I was starting to beat it with everyone on easy then I realized that there is a trophy for medium so I am going back and finishing it that way. 18 more people to go.

man I got my butt handed to me vs a friend yesterday haha
Though I just got it yesterday and he's had it for a few days. I need to learn how and when to use focus, cancel and ex moves...

Still had a blast though. Haven't played a street fighter game in years. My thumb got rubbed raw on the dpad from practicing with Guile!

That happened a lot when playing DS ranked online games, but I don't envision this being a large problem given how long it takes to get back online once you turn off the system.

Man- is it just me, or is the music playing after the trial challenge too similar to the theme from Rainbow Road on Mario Kart?

I'm sure if you guys haven't noticed, you'll hear it now. Sorry...

Sorry I missed you last night Gen, by the time I got around to beating Seth and sent you an invite I think you had stopped playing SFIV

I'm having a terribly hard time doing cancels with special moves. I'm using a dualshock 3 controller. Are these moves cake to perform with a joystick or one of those fightpads? I'm seriously thinking of investing in a stick if it makes these moves possible.

We need to have three CAG tournaments when we're able to actually have tournaments in the game: a bragging rights tourney, a just or fun tourney, and a random character selection tourney.

I didn't think Capcom could be as retarded as to somehow make Seth harder on Easy. I'm trying to go through the game to get all the characters wheres on Normal I was able to take Seth in about an hour but i'm now on hour three of not being able to kill this fuck on EASY. WTF?

Are downloaded game saves compatible with this game?

Who are you trying to beat him with?

No.

No problem woodcan, Seth can be a pain haha. I was about to get to bed but saw your invite a few minutes after you sent it, wasn't able to get in. Definitely feel free to send me an invite if you see me on next time!

Also, I'll probably be on in half an hour if anyone wants to play some matches.

Sorry to Kenpachi, couldn't accept your fight request cause I was in the middle of fighting Seth with Balrog.
Took my about 8 continues but I finally defeated him. (and I don't know how to send invites to people)

Seth is a push over... if you put the max rounds on 1 and the time limit on 30 seconds and go for a "time out" victory.

In the 1 round matches he gradually gets more difficult, but only as his life depletes from what i can tell. Otherwise the idiot just sits and chunks sonic booms.

(strictly for unlocking of course)

He's grapple happy too.

Im trying to get the trophy for 10 win achievement, but sometime people just leave when im kicking their ass. Does that count as a loss against me?

to send invites to ppl, go to 'create match' in either 'ranked match' or 'player match'. From there, choose your match settings and when you get to the lobby, choose 'send game invite'.

I suck hard at this game. Its hit or miss when it comes to pulling off special moves, which I don't understand because I do the same thing every time...this game is really cool though...

I thought Seth was easy compared to what I've been hearing. On the Easiest setting he is nothing to beat. Even on Medium I thought he was somewhat hard, but not as hard as some people talk about him. I would hate to see him on the hardest setting though.
Is he hard or just cheap?
He's the cheapest boss (aside from the SNK games of course) I've seen from Capcom. That said, I want to note that 'Easy' is not the lowest setting...there's 'Very Easy' and 'Easiest' or something like that. He will still be cheap with those settings, but it's a little less cheap.

In one occassion he went from a leg/body slide (along the ground) directly into a super dragon punch...'nuff said.

We should organize a little tourney or game night kind of thing for next weekend. I'm out of town now or I'd have been trying to get some games in more this weekend.

It also goes to note that unlike every character in the game, Seth is not frame locked, so he can go from one move into another unlike the other characters who have to wait for their animations to finish. It's bs.

Lol yeah they really do suck online. I'm 25-2 lol. Although, knock on wood, no ones dc-ed out yet so atleast the PSN crowd is more mature to losing. Ryu and Ken are extremely useless against Blanka in SF4 though. Blanka easily ducks Ryu's Ultra/Super and both of theirs fireballs haha. This one guy who was playing Ryu threw off his Ultra expecting it to win the match because I was wide open but instead I just ducked under it. he stood still for like five seconds, couldn't believe it.
Good games, Furashu! Sorry about the last match, got a lost connection error for some reason.
yeah good game, my friend was using the abel haha.

lotta close matches!

playing esper now

Lost connection. Damn... GGs to Furashu. Nice blanka and abel! :) I need to work on C.Viper and Cammy. If you want to play again, shoot me a FR.

Just played Wotcher for ~1 hour. Really epic matches making for an extremely good time. :)

Getting to play my Abel, Sakura, Bison, and Rose against people besides Ken and Ryu was definitely a welcome change of pace. I no longer have second thoughts about purchasing this game.

So I wonder if I should just stick to friendly matches or keep on practicing with the expectation of facing dozens of Kens and Ruys in ranked matches.

fuck! Ok so I finally had time to really sit down and play this game tonight. I finally beat it on the easiest setting to get a feel for it with the new fightpad. Good stuff there. So I decide to try it on medium for the trophy. I kind of want to commit suicide right now. I got all the way up to Bison, barely squeezing out victories from the other opponents. Every damn time I was close to beating him, he would pull a Seth and demolish me! Ugh!!!!

I still love the game, but right now it's more of a love hate relationship, and we're not talking to each other at the moment...

It's best to give yourself some time before you say something to the game you may regret. ;)
