Street Fighter IV PS3 Official Discussion Thread
Good games, Kenpachi! Lost quite a few rounds, but definitely learned from some of my mistakes. Still fun though and we had some pretty close matches. Cammy's definitely my best character it seems like.

I'll probably be on again tomorrow after midnight EST if you or anyone else wants to get some games in.
good games man. you have amazing timing with your cammy. thats all I could say every match we played. you inspired me to wanna play as cammy more.
multi day tournament brackets are up

sorry I gotta drop out of this one also. family stuff. if anyone wants to play later tonight after midnight hit me up then
Haha yeah, if you didn't like that trial with Chun Li's 3 air heels, you'll probably hate the one with Gen where you have to juggle his Gekiro in the air around 8 times in a row with perfect timing.

The trials are definitely a lot easier if you have a stick, don't think I would have been able to get through them all with a controller.
bah I just finished that one. The gekiro..took me like half an hour. Then in the next trial you have to do it again but as a part of a combo but it seemed easier doing it as EX gekiro. I got that one done like the second try.

Hey darkkenpachi I'm usually on really late EST like 11-midnight or later add me up :)

Update on the RetroUSB.com saturn adaptors: Shit don't work!

The buttons don't map right on the PS3 and doesn't work at all on the PS2 (as expected). Works alright for PC use.

The Saturn USB control, or the 3in1 Joybox seem like the best bet at this point.
I finally unlocked all characters last night.
I can see that. It takes a while to get them all. I honestly don't think Seth was worth it.

it's not like it was hard to romp through arcade with each character on easiest mode and 1 round per fight anyway :D

I still havent unlocked a couple people. I'm in no rush though because I still haven't even played as everyone it came with.
Don't know who I'd like to main yet but I win a lot with cammy.
I like to use blanka against ryu spammers and Rose against ken spammers though.
it's not like it was hard to romp through arcade with each character on easiest mode and 1 round per fight anyway :D
I beg to differ. :joystick: I've still yet to unlock a single extra character. Five times through the Arcade mode on easy and only once have I made it to Seth.

haha I didn't realize it at first, but there are two modes that are easier than Easy (Very Easy and Easiest)

Ditto. Even on the 'Easy' setting Seth, and others can be a real royal pain. Specially Seth 'the spammer', and cheating bastard.

^yeah the highest dificulty I've beaten seth on was medium
I didn't even know there was a very easy and easiest til a couple days ago.
I guess all I have left to unlock is gouken, akuma, and seth. maybe i'll do akuma tonight. throw it on easiest to make sure I get the perfects.
haha I didn't realize it at first, but there are two modes that are easier than Easy (Very Easy and Easiest)
Thought to fire up SFIV before checking into this thread and I, too, realized there was a Very Easy mode. Finally got through a character. Four times to beat Seth though. I still don't feel too good about my skills.

Since I'm having a heck of a time trying to find a damn Fightpad for the PS3, I'm planning on buying the USB PC/PS3 Sega Saturn Pad off of ebay.

Has anyone tried this out? Is it responsive as the fightpad?

A lot of people claim it's better than the FightPad, I bought one myself recently. The thing still hasn't arrived yet though.

Heh, glad that I'm not the only one that didn't realize there were easier modes than easy. :p

Yesterday afternoon was just bad news bears for me. Playing ranked, just wasn't feeling my mojo and was trying to take my Guile out on the road for the first time. Lost about 500+ BP against a bunch of scrub Kens/Ryus because I simply wasn't patient enough with them. Is it just me or does their jump in roundhouse have super high priority over everything if it's pretty deep (that's what she said)? I tried to stop it with flash kicks, by jumping at them and trying to air throw/kick, dashing backwards, nothing...just got taken to school.

I've been screwing around with El Fuerte with some friends. He's a lot of fun, but I don't think I'll ever do any good with him against characters that have projectiles.

Well I have neglected SF IV for a few days since Killzone 2 came out but I'll get back into it soon. I know MSUHitman sent me a PM asking to play last night and I was literally finishing up a match in KZ2 and then going to bed. :( Hey MSUHitman, we'll definitely hit up some SF IV tonight if you're down!

@jekki your ryu destroys mine. I gotta learn to be more consistent with my pokes and super moves. thanks for the good games. and I know I frustrate you with my e. honda. lol

@ohvermie ggs last night man. your guile is good and honestly your the only person who I have played who uses him in 4 so far.

playing you both last night made me realize how much I need to relearn my fighting style again.

Just wondering, were you letting someone else play sometimes because when you were using Akuma, some rounds were like completely different play styles. I know sometimes I just get into this offensive mindset and just fall victim to all sorts of crap, so maybe that's what it was. I wish I could develop like two sets of strategy where it feels like someone else is playing. THE MINDGAMES!!! :)

Spend about 2 hours finishing the Survival and Time Trials, the ones where you can't use a special move is funny in that it teaches you that you're useless without special moves .

Now onto the hard Survival and Time trials...

Only thing I've noticed so far is that EX Habanero Dash will go through them and its super fast for a counter but you need that 1 bar to do it. Can't always do it.

Is it just me or does everyone pick Akuma? I played for about an hour yesterday online and at least 75% of the people picked him.

I've been seeing a rash of Akuma's lately. The occasional Gouken, who once the super or ultra meter is maxed will lunge at you to try to grab you. But still mostly Ken.

It's a little different in player matches. I love playing me some C Viper even though I am absolutely horrendous with her.

Does the EX Dash go through fireballs? I keep on getting stopped by them during EX Dash. Maybe they were EX fireballs.

AHHH! I'm a total newb myself but I dont play Ken/Ryu/Ken whatever. I just had to drop out of game or two because a person picked Ken and I'm fed up (I'm only 12 online fights in!). The last guy must have thought he was all sneaky sitting on E Honda, then after I picked went to Ken (sorta thought he might) so I quit game.

My question - What happens to the player left in the game when the other drops? Either in Character selection or during the match (if there is a difference). I hope its not default win.

if the game disconnects it still counts towards your match count.

so let's say you play 10 games, you win 8 of them, lose 1, and get disconnected in 1,

then your win ratio is 8/10, but you did not lose/gain any BP from the disconnected match

I limit myself on using akuma because I tend to play very cheap with him. I become a combo monster. but I also get very sloppy with him.

I just beat the hard survival trials today and it unlocks a whole bunch of icons,5 titles, and of course the trophy. they all require at least 10 wins to progress but on the 5th level after fight 35 it does get kind of boring and you have no will to fight knowing that you already finished the challenge.

so as far as challenges go I got hard time challenge, normal moves, and hard moves to beat.

that makes 10 trophies left and I am determined to get every trophy in this one.

do you get any icons for beating the move specific portion of the game?

Shiet.... and I thought 25 fights in a row was grating....

For each character you complete move challenges with, you unlock 3 icons (along with the titles and artwork). One's a box version of their head, the other is a cartoony version I think, and I don't know what the last one is.

What I meant was that it'll absorb them. Only regular fireballs though since EX or Akuma's big fireball will hit multiple times.

Ok, this might be a super stupid question. How can you avoid getting destroyed by Akuma's normal fireballs, and then you block that they just jump away and fire an air fireball. I either block them infinitely or jump and get hit.

also I'd like to say, Akuma's fireballs do less damage on hit then regular fireballs do on block lol.

not really tho, but Akuma gots sum weak ass balls, except for the fire one.

Depending on the situation and character you're using. Usually jumping in can be punished if you're not careful. Other options include EX version of your own attacks that move you forward. It'll absorb one attack and might catch them off guard. And in the same vein you can focus attack and cancel into a dash after letting them hit you.
Can I take my save from this and use it on a friend's PS3?
You'll get a lot of "you did not earn a trophy" messages but it should work.
Can I take my save from this and use it on a friend's PS3?
You cannot, the save can't be copied.
You cannot, the save can't be copied.
Oh shits, I forgot about it saying Copying Prohibited.

*phew* Just finished both Hard Survival and Time Trials. Good luck to those who haven't yet played level 5 in the Hard Time Trial.

Now I gotta get back to online matches again.

I discovered yesterday that fei long is capable of taking down sagat spammers. I also did it rock lee style, more surprisingly.

That last survival mode normal challenge is beating my ass. Any tips on how to take down Cammy with Blanka? I always get up to her with 100% health and then just get whooped or if I beat her I have barely anything left. D: I wouldn't mind so much if I didn't have to go through 10 matches just to get my ass handed to me by her.
